I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Wohoo, congratulations Shoop!! I'm having a boy too. :) They might be born on the same say! ;-) Glad you had a nicer scan this time around.

bugista · 10/11/2015 17:29

Same day not say - sorry! x

LucindaE · 10/11/2015 17:34

shoop Great news about scan.
amysmum I'm glad they weren't too worried, and all luck for scan tomorrow.
Ican't Can you see the drs? It's really hard that the steroids haven't worked; can they try more than one type, as I know nothing about them?
Really feel for you, all I can do is offer gentle cyber pats.
spandau You are still funny, anyway. Sorry to hear about Bile Run. As others say, they are awful.
Reebok How are things today? Thank goodness for understanding deputy head.
Barmee You deserve a medal for commuting in with nausea, and the size of a house too. I hope it starts easing off asap.
Bugista I've typed a message for you, and can't read my awful handwriting.
eallison Thanks for lovely encouraging message, despite sabotage from phone.
Iam Glad those meds seem to be helping.
Sorry that people are suffering from nasty viruses (and their LO's have them too) as well as the pleasures of Hypemesis.
Charlie I believe it is supposed to be hormonal (lots of people with it get memstrual migraine and cystitis, too (even when not dehydrated). I don't think they know why. It seems to strike across all ages and weights.

Cefalexin is a spin off of a penicillin and very safe in pregnancy xx

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 10/11/2015 18:14

Fab news shoop
:)
Lucinda Only have on GP that I find understanding and can't get an appt for over 2 weeks even though I said it needs to be ASAP. Rang Gynae as meant to see consultant Friday as they've only given me enough until then and they decide weather to lower or increase dose and can't get an apt until next Thursday even though it's dangerous to abruptly stop.
All my energy has just gone :(
How did it go today reebok?
spandau after this one I'm having no more and they've even agreed to sterilise me even though I'm only 23, nearly 14 weeks and don't think I could even do this bit again so just going to have to suck it up a bit :(

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 10/11/2015 18:14

Sorry for the negative post , I'll be back all cheery tomorrow :)

amysmummy12345 · 10/11/2015 18:17

You've got every right to feel down icant we'll be able to look back this time next year and laugh about it not!! My greatest fear is having the baby and the sickness still being there Confused

bugista · 10/11/2015 18:19

Amys I know exactly what you mean, I remember, when I was at my worst with HG, feeling so hopeless as I felt like I would never, ever feel better. That's the hardest thing mentally with HG I think...it's so awful that you can't remember what normal feels like so you think it's HG forever! Mine has definitely improved though and all of you guys will do, just hang in there. Flowers

spandau1980 · 10/11/2015 18:45

icant it was just when u said it got worse for you last time made me think .. crikey

ULL have to attend hospital then.. crazy they ve not sorted this out ??

Your gonna have to do what ever it takes to make sure u are well and that baby has a fighting chance xx

HG is the most crazy response our bodies could give to a job it should be able to do without trying to kill us off grrrr...
Trying to hold onto my eve tea ... xx

Reebok · 10/11/2015 18:57

Hi all, really struggling again with the nausea. I'm so exhausted from working that I am tempted to get signed off again after this week. It doesn't help that when dd gets home from nursery she's mental and crying over everything. She just won't settle and is driving me mad so I snap. I haven't been able to eat any dinner because of her and now I feel too sick to eat. Also feel like I have a cold so throat and ear are killing me on top of hg. I don't know if I can do this anymore. In tears as I type.

I've had that antibiotic but didn't react well to it...resulted in me vomiting and suffering from nausea.

Shoop congrats on the scan. Sorry I thought you had one yesterday. I'm not with it.

Sorry not to comment on everyone else. I just feel too drained. Hugs to you all.

LucindaE · 10/11/2015 19:14

Ican't You poor thing.
amy Don't worry, the chances of it continuing after birth are probably one in hundreds, and even then, it won't last. I have only ever known four people on these threads have Hyperemesis after the birth - and this thread has been going for five years, so that's four out of hundreds. I was one, Meerka Kalidasa and Slippers. I do think I should have warned them that it might just happen and would go.
I think in my case it had to do with having an infection, blood loss, and iron tablets. The violent symptoms went in two weeks, but I did get nausea with breastfeeding, as did Meerka and Kalidasa. But none of us was violently ill with breasfeeding as with Hyperemesis. Don't worry. Almost everyone gets a lot better somewhere between weeks 14-21.

Oh Reebok sorry it is all so difficult for you at the moment. I really hope tomorrow will be an easier day for you.

Hope you're managing to keep your dinner down spandau!

amy I worry that the hg won't end when the baby comes too - althought I am not yet quite 11 weeks so it all feels sooo far away at the moment anyway it is almost a moot point! I can't imagine ever just sitting down and enjoying a meal every again for example.

Icant sorry your suffering is so appallingly bad. I really hope for some relief for you soon.

shoop a boy! How lovely. Smile I hope it gave you a bit of a boost.

Hope you feel better soon Charlie - a virus on top of hg is most unfair.

iam do go back to the gp and ask for something stronger if you are struggling to cope - I am on ondansetron now and it is the only thing which has touched it.

Hope your cold clears up soon bugista.

Barmee I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

I have been having a tougher few days - not much vomiting, but I am feeling pretty nauseous and also a bit depressed. It is so isolating and boring feeling like this all of the time, and everyone keeps telling me that I will feel better in a week now, when I hit 12 weeks. I will believe it if/when it happens! Hmm

amysmummy12345 · 10/11/2015 19:33

Well hubby informed me that at 12 weeks I'll miraculously feel alright! (he's obviously forgotten I was terrible until week 17 with dd) Confused he's obviously been googling morning sickness... If he mentions ginger nuts I'll shove a packet up his arse Grin

Thanks mother hen, knowing my luck I would be the one in a million lolol

Reebok I would definitely get signed off again if you can... X

MotherofPearl · 10/11/2015 20:02

Shoop, lovely to hear about your scan! So glad you had a good experience. And it's a boy! Smile
Sorry to hear how everyone is struggling today. I totally second what Madrigal says about pushing for Ondanestron. While it does not take away the relentless nausea, in my experience it's made a huge difference with the sickness. Still tired and queasy all the time, but much more functional now at 14 weeks than I ever was in my previous HG pregnancy when I soldiered on with cyclizine.
Sorry to hear things are not settling down with the return to work Reebok. Perhaps it's best to go back to being signed off? You poor thing. x
Icant, I really can't believe that they're being so rubbish in getting you treated, given how seriously ill you've been. Shocking really.
Barmee, no need to apologise for grumpiness here; surely it goes with the territory!
Big waves to Bugista, Spandau, Meer, Ealli, Amys, Iam and anyone else I've stupidly left out. Keep on keeping on everyone.

MotherofPearl · 10/11/2015 20:03

And Lucinda of course! Blush

spandau1980 · 10/11/2015 21:21

Nice to hear of positive scans guys... Makes me feel happier knowing things are going right amongst the puke fest ...

I'm of to sleep.
Reebok get signed.off.

Too much travel and a toddler who desperately needs her mummy is gonna be harder than when it was the first HG PREG
.. hope u feel bit better by morning x

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 10/11/2015 22:07

shoop shoop so glad to hear it went well and you know it's a cute little boy, congrats!

about promethazine - it's a powerful anti-histamine, stronger than cyclizine. It sometimes makes people sleepy. If you respond to it at all, it can be good.

reebok wishing you a gentle night. It doesn't sound like you are ready for work :(

icant I was arranging sterilization with the gyne at week 12 ... kept to it too! god, it's a relief to know it can't happen again (specially as the first mischief was conceived despite protection).

Wishing everyone strength to get through another night and day.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 10/11/2015 22:57

meer it's good to know that someone else has had it - both pregnancys I've been on the pill and still conceived - and I took it like clockwork as I do with all my meds so was a shock!
I hope I won't regret it but can't put myself through this again!

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 11/11/2015 07:54

ican't with the events of this pregnancy + the track record of HG, I imagine another preg might not be a good idea anyway :/

I do get the longing for another one sometimes but I think that's something that just happens now and then however complete your family is. I suspect that's why grannies coo so much over grandchildren ... a lovely little new baby all over again :) My (wonderful) MIL once tried to take our older son out of my arms when he was crying to comfort him, then stopped herself and apologised - I could see the whole thought process going on ... Baby crying, Comfort him, Oops not my baby, oh bugger, I nearly tried to take him from his Mama, oh shit!

Hope everyone is surviving this morning

amysmummy12345 · 11/11/2015 09:21

Morning all, anti sickness meds 0, morning sickness 1 Sad feel as rough as a badgers proverbial this morning... Been on the bile run already... Got scan today so fingers crossed all is well... And toes crossed that there's only one lil nugget in there!!! Hope you all have a good day x

iamdivergent · 11/11/2015 09:46

amysmummy good luck with the scan

Yesterday was the pits, brought up lunch and dinner, gave up and went to bed at 8. Touch wood I'm okay this morning, I've kept a dry bowl of cereal down since 7.

MadrigalElectromotive · 11/11/2015 09:58

Having a very difficult day today - was up several times in the night bringing up bile and now I'm struggling to keep the antiemetics down. Sad Yuck!

Sorry that amy and iam are also suffering.

amysmummy12345 · 11/11/2015 10:02

Well done iam I've managed a piece of jam on toast... Oh madrigal Sad sounds like you had a bad day yesterday... Hope today picks up for you xx

eallison88 · 11/11/2015 10:43

madrigal hoping the antiemetics have stayed down. Bile run sucks ladies.

iam hoping the cereal has stayed down too.

I've just put my not so little 6 week old in 3-6 month clothes... anyone worried about the size of their babies, my chumba is a good indication that though we suffer horrendously, baby grows really well. I'm breastfeeding and was worried that I just wouldn't have the supplies to feed him,but clearly something is working!

LucindaE · 11/11/2015 11:23

Magrigal Sorry to her that. A horrible doggerel verse sounded in my mad head: 'Bile run no Fun, Bile is Vile...' Sorry, that isn't even funny. amy but that 'Badger's Proverbial' is...Sorry so many are suffering horribly. Onceameer and Ican't I always regretted not going for it twice, so I fully understand regretting not going for it three or four times. It's amazing the way some babies are conceived against massive odds. Was that the mini pill (I think I had several very early miscarriages on that, but didn't realise at that time, stupid me) or the combined one?
I hope that everyone isn't suffering terribly this morning. Waves to everyone. This last half hour i've been looking for my updated Due Dates list. i have only fond one, and I know I updated it after this, but the PC has eaten it. Been halfway through the thread, too.
