I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Grr, typed a long detailed reply to lots of ppl earlier but it wouldn't let me post it. My phone just restarted itself and now the reply has gone. Baby mow asleep so gonna sleep while I cam - will go back and retype in tge morning. Just wanted to say now that you've all nearly done another day (hurrah!) And wishing you a restful night. Keep going ladies, you're winning this fight, even if it really doesn't feel like it.

meer is good to have you back.

CharlieHamer1985 · 09/11/2015 22:04

Spandau - That was me with indegestion and stomach pain. Its bad enough when you finally feel ready to eat something, but then i end up with indegestion and unsettled tummy. I also find it then makes me want to gag. Got to collect another prescription of zofran as due to run out. Its actually making me panicky thing about going without them. Whilst its not a complete fix, it makes it slightly better. Im trying to keep positive and tell my self that this will properly be better by the time im 20weeks (thats wen it stopped on 1st pregnancy). By which time i will have 20 week scan to look forward too.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 10/11/2015 08:27

The vomiting is back in full swing, feel so deflated, don't know how long I can keep this up Sad

amysmummy12345 · 10/11/2015 09:07

Hope everyone is ok today, bugista I'm about 10 weeks ish, got scan on Thurs to determine.... I was sick on the drive last night, couldn't make it into the house in time... Tried to be as quiet as I could but I'm the loudest vomiter in history, I bet the curtains were twitching... When I wiped this morning after going to the toilet I had some mucus discharge with streaks of brown. Sad had some uncomfortable pains in my side too last night.. Got docs today so will mention it to them... X

spandau1980 · 10/11/2015 09:30

Amymummy -probably old blood from stress of vomiting. Try not to worry x easier said than done.
icant I'm going to be putting myself out there and may get some flack for saying this .. But if you cannot go on with the pregnancy because you are slowly killing yourself then I for one will not judge you.
You need to think about you ur son and your OH ect.
I really was hoping the steroids would help :(
Pls don't hate me for saying that btw I m trying to be practical and supportive No Matter what happens. ...

Started my day of with bile run... not done for ages but up with dd in night and so tired think brought it on.
Still feeling pretty miserable with no end in sight ..

shoopshoopsong · 10/11/2015 09:34

meerka your gingering doctor remark made me laugh loads Thankyou!

amysmummy12345 · 10/11/2015 09:39

spandau bile is the worst Sad makes me shudder thinking about it xxx

eallison88 · 10/11/2015 10:18

reebok in delighted you're deputy head is prioritising your health. Interestingly, my head was useless and it was the assistant head that stepped up and put my health first. Please take things slowly still and talk to the deputy if you're finding things too difficult.

eallison88 · 10/11/2015 10:20

amys brown discharge tends not to be too worrying, it's fresh blood that's the trigger to see someone immediately.

amysmummy12345 · 10/11/2015 11:35

Thanks eallison been to docs, they given me antibiotics for a suspected urine infection as it showed up mixed growth and have given me Promethazine teoclate (brand name avomine)? For nausea... Hope it helps but I'm dreading mixing antibiotics and sckness pills Confused they've moved my scan forward to tomorrow, hope everyone's having an ok day xx

BarmeeMarmee · 10/11/2015 11:51

MoP I'm ok. Thanks for asking! I'm not having a great day -think the weekend is still taking its toll-and could really do without the commute now. Am already the size of a house and just not sure how I'm going to make it through till mat leave. Ah well, in the words of Mother Hen this too shall pass.

Hope everyone else is feeling less grumpy than me, lol.

bugista · 10/11/2015 12:15

Barmee, how much longer do you have? Please feel free to be as grumpy as you like, you're totes allowed!

Amys don't worry too much about mixing pills, the docs err so far on the side of caution that I doubt very much you'd be given anything remotely concerning. Good about your scan moving forward. Also I really really want to meet someone who can vom quietly - that's some serious skill! ;-)

Bleh indigestion must be absolutely awful - sorry to Charlie and Spandau - I can't wait for the day when you guys and shoop, reebok and icant start to improve - you sooo deserve it now.

Waving to meerka, MOP, Ealli, Lucinda. I'm doing ok - am working 11-5 a few days a week and that seems to be fine although today I woke up with a stinking cold. Still nauseous and still feeling vommy in the mornings but am 20+4 so ever hopeful this will start to fade?! Also baby has started to move around loads which really helps me mentally to keep going!

amysmummy12345 · 10/11/2015 12:44

Well done Bugista hopefully over half way now!

Has anyone had any experience of this Avomine anti nausea pill? Been told to take just one a day before bed time...

BarmeeMarmee · 10/11/2015 13:55

Bugista I'm currently 22+5 so still a way to go unfortunately. Just having a bit of a pity party I think!!

bugista · 10/11/2015 14:26

Oh cool, we're pretty similar Barmee, I'm 21+2 according to NHS. A pity party every so often keeps us all sane! Have you thought about when to start mat leave yet? I've got a meeting with work tomorrow to discuss and I'm really not sure what the norm is (if there is!).

iamdivergent · 10/11/2015 14:57

I didn't get signed off I am just self certifying. Told work I won't be in this week, am just so weak. Tablets seem OK so far, only been sick once which was about 11 this morning after I dared to eat an apple Hmm seems I can have a meal but not snack with these tablets Confused I'm taking them about 15mins prior to eating.

Hope everyone else is coping OK xx

CharlieHamer1985 · 10/11/2015 15:28

Amysmummy - I tried Promethazine but didnt work for me so put me on Zofran. Ive had a urine infection twice so far in this pregnancy and think i have another so seeing gp thursday for antibiotics (i only have one kidney so have to keep on top of it and try to keep hydrated). I wouldnt worry about antibiotics doing harm. They are quite common for urine infection.

My 8mth old has been ill since friday with a viral infection and is finally better, but now i apppear to have it. Swollen glands, sore throat, itchy eyes and headache. Luckily my OH parents have taken him.for the day so i can sleep. I would love to know why us unlucky few get HG and others dont. The best part of my last pregnancy was labour. I look at my son now and think how much i love him and that he was worth every minute of HG. But in this pregnancy i dont feel excited yet and i dont feel pregnant just sick.

I am thankful this time on maternity, really dont think i cud have faced work. My employers are not very compassionate when your ill. Last time wen i was 4.5month pregnant with hg they made me travel from hertfordshire to newcastle on a train to a business meeting on my own and i had to come back same day. They refused to put me up in a budget hotel or send someone else.

I go back to work on 4th Jan so hoping by then to be feeling better. I wrote to them end of last week to advise im pregnant again. Dreading hearing from them, i know they wont be impressed.

amysmummy12345 · 10/11/2015 15:48

Blimey charlie they sound like awful employers Angry in a way I'm glad I'm supply, although being on a long term placement it feels like I actually work at the school, been there over a year now! I was more concerned about the antibiotics not agreeing with my dodgy stomach and making the sickness worse SadBlush x

CharlieHamer1985 · 10/11/2015 16:00

Amysmummy - didnt find they made me sick. But i was finding i couldnt get all of them down espically if a tablet was due and i was having a gagging or vomiting episode. I made ice lollies out of cranberry juice as cant drink it. Cranberry is good for urine infections.

Employers are rubbish but at least ive only got to work jan to march. Im gonna start maternity in April. Im due 3rd of may. Ive been there just over 10yrs.

spandau1980 · 10/11/2015 16:08

When your so dehydrated it's inevitable uti which pregnant women are prone to raise their ugly heads.
I can't take penicillin which is the safest in preg so iv refused any antibiotics based on wee sample dip test ONLY lab results..
After constant battle in last preg about this mythical uti I had and them forcing a stay with iv antibiotics I now longer trust their judgement ... I knew I didn't have one grrr

Ref them not giving dangerous antibiotics I beg to differ
2 times I was given awful antibiotics that were not safe

I research and did t take them

Iv had really awful.nhs experiences in 2010-13 so am now very very very careful what I decide to take ect

Thank god for Google lol xx

amysmummy12345 · 10/11/2015 16:17

They've given me cefalexin? (sp?) told work I wouldn't be in tomorrow due to scan and getting bloods done and they've asked I I could squeeze half a day in... Told them appt is 10:30am, then got to wait to get bloods done along with half of the west midlands... There's no way I'd be back for the afternoon!

shoopshoopsong · 10/11/2015 16:57

Hi all just checking in briefly to say scan went great (my last 2 scans were distressing with horrid sonographer - this time got a nice one) found out I'm having another boy Smile feels more real but it's definitely tired me out so will read thread later x

amysmummy12345 · 10/11/2015 17:00

Congrats shoop xxxx

CharlieHamer1985 · 10/11/2015 17:09
