I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

reebok very best of luck tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you. I really hope they are sensible with what they ask from you. Remind me, are you going in armed with a reduced hours/duties sick note? That journey sounds hellish to me in the peak of physical fitness.

icant I'm glad you're gone and hope the steroids make the difference for you.

amys well done on shopping! Long standing board members will have read me tell of my time sitting on the floor in tesco for 10/15 mins smelling mens roll on deodorant trying to find one that my hubby could wear and not make me want to puke. I hated supermarkets when in the throes; all the food and smells. Well done you!

MadrigalElectromotive · 08/11/2015 18:36

Reebok good luck tomorrow. I hope that it goes as well as it possibly can.

Iam I think we are on the June thread together - sorry you're here too but it is very supportive indeed. Welcome to becky as well.

Icant glad you're home. Take it easy!

amys hope you are feeling better after your supermarket exertions.

I went to B&Q with DH yesterday. It was a huge mistake. I thought I was feeling a lot better until we got inside and I realised how weak and ill I still feel. Went all pale and clammy and was really worried I was going to faint! Managed to get through it and then had to sleep all afternoon because it completely wiped me out. I was pretty shocked to be honest - I was starting to think about returning to work etc but I'm having a rethink. Shock

Hello and gentle hugs to everyone else.

LucindaE · 08/11/2015 18:54

Reebok Best of luck tommorow, like eallison I'd like to know if you've got a sick note specifying light duties, special hours, etc. That school must be a long way from where you live.
Madrigal Very sensible not to rush back. This illness really takes it out of you.
Ican't That is a big weight loss in such a short time, though. Hope you keep felling better even when that cyclizine wears off.

eallison I remember that episode well. Grin
Waves to all.

Thanks everyone. Don't worry Lucinda and ealli...I am fully armed with a sick note stating my hours must be reduced so only going in for mornings this week. Means I can sleep it off at lunch time. Also have my Union up to date with situation and they're willing to step in as they know how awful my boss was to me last time. Yes it's very far! Been staring at myself in the mirror and realized how gross I look. My hair, face, body! Eurgh! I'm going to give everyone a heart attack tomorrow when they see what I've become.

Thanks everyone...fx I make it through. Madrigal please don't return to work yet...you definitely don't sound ready yet and it will only result in a bad relapse. If I could have I would have waited until next week to return but nursery costs money and we can't afford a pay cut. I cannot wait for maternity leave. Already counting how many weeks I have to make it through...I'm aiming to leave earlier this time and won't be coming back either!! CAN NOT WAIT!!!!

Hope you're all having an ok evening. X

Good luck Reebok

squeezed · 08/11/2015 20:09

Hello, reebok suggested I come and join you. I'm 13 weeks and have been struggling with the sickness from 6 weeks. Was vomiting 15 times a day but down to 5 now with the Stemetil. I'm waking up each day feeling like I've run a marathon. Been off work for a month but went back for a few days only to get worse again, the 60 mile round trip is a killer on public transport because I can't drive feeling like this. I'm going to go back to the doctors tomorrow but just worry that I'm being a bit pathetic about it.

spandau1980 · 08/11/2015 20:25

Hello squeezed
With my 1st HG preg I too thought I'm being a wuss with this morning sickness.. I lost over a stone and was carrying twins unbeknown to me til 12 week scan lol
I was under weight any way so couldn't afford to lose a stone ! It was horrific.
With 2nd preg (yes mad enuff to do it again) I was so ill til 16 weeks again losing weight ect ..
My 3rd pregnancy hahaha evil evil evil HG struck again it tore through me til 20 weeks.

Now on HG pregnancy watch again at 14 weeks
YOU are not being lame .. this condition can KILL it is not NORMAL to throw up repetitively .. to lose weight ... or to have your daily activities hindered...
I BATTLED each preg without help ... mainly as docs were a lot worse than they are now at offering help !!
My twins are 14 now ...

Get on something else 5 come a day is not good ...
I'm down to 2 a day and that makes me feel dreadful . At 10 weeks I had to have iv fluids. Most ladies on here have unfortunately.
But it does.help and gets u the recognition you deserve. After the kate Middleton hype hypermeresis is no longer so sneered at ...
But u still get the ginger warriors and it's all in your head brigade

ICANT cross u said you hadn't been sick when you had to get home .. naughty naughty naughty
Hope the steroids kick in and at least make it bearable for you !!! Your OH and son must be very worried .
Iv lost half a stone this time lol I'm pleased as felt fat after 4 th child hehe

HG the new slimming tool
Hehe xxx

squeezed · 08/11/2015 20:47

I was really hoping it would stop at 12 weeks, certainly what other people kept saying ( along with "have you tried ginger?"). Fortunately I'm managing to keep some fluids and food down, it seems to be about timing it at safer times. I can't believe how insensitive some people can be about it, it's not a bit of morning sickness.

iamdivergent · 08/11/2015 21:07

Thanks all for the welcome. Been Been a terrible day, probably the worst. Been sick 20+ times, went back to bed at 2 and only up at 8 again. Have managed to keep down a glass of water and taken my last cyclazine of the day but haven't eaten since lunchtime - I have no appetite whatsoever. Think I am going to try dr again tomorrow but I suppose I am lucky as I'm not dehydrated. I don't see me going into work, I can't handle work and this sickness, feel it makes it so much worse. I am at the my best in the few minutes after I wake up but then just go downhill from there.

I am keeping a meal down for approx 30 mins but then it's pretty much continued sickness until my next tablet Sad it's just so miserable isn't it? Forcing myself to eat and drink to try and stop the need for hospitalisation but I really feel that I am fighting a losing battle.

iamdivergent · 08/11/2015 21:10

madrigal yes we are on the June thread together. June seems a very long time away!

MotherofPearl · 08/11/2015 21:53

Hello All,
Just dashing on very quickly to wish Reebok very good luck for tomorrow. I'll be keeping fx all goes as well as poss. x
Welcome to all the new joiners who are suffering so badly. HG really is the absolute pits, especially in those early weeks.
Sorry not to write a proper post and reply to everyone. Have had a rough evening (painful vom session about 6pm when lunch I'd eaten hours earlier reappeared totally undigested - yuk), so am in bed and going to try to draw a line under this horrible day. One more day down ladies. Will have a proper catch up tomorrow.

Ems10000 · 08/11/2015 23:46

reebok good luck tomorrow, I will be thinking of you. Sorry to see so many new people but you've come to the right place! a friend has visited today who couldn't believe the change in me and at first questioned if I'm doing too much post birth (I'm not, my mum has stayed and run round after me, dh and dd since last week). I explained to her that although I'm exhausted and sore I actually feel like I am 'with it' for the first time in 9 months! This isn't meant as a bragging post, i truly understand the horrors of HG and have felt like I've lived in a fog since February. HG has made me snap at my dd and dh daily, isolate myself and question my sanity! Now I'm out of it I feel like I am a nice person again and I am enjoying things rather than just getting through the day until bed time. My point is that however you are feeling you are not going mad/depressed/developing an eating disorder- you are fighting the daily battle to get one step closer to meeting your beautiful baby. It is a long, hard slog that very few people understand but you will get there - and as you eat your first piece of toast and drink your tea after the birth you will look back and know it was all worth it. Hugs to everyone x

iamdivergent · 09/11/2015 08:13

Waiting to phone drs at 8:30 to try and get an appt. I can barely walk today, high heartrate and just feel exhausted despite 11 hrs sleep plus the nearly 6 after lunch yesterday.

Need to phone in to work too, but would rather dr signed me off as work don't make it easy for you when you're ill.

lemonslemonslemons · 09/11/2015 08:19

Good luck for starting back at work Reebok.

How are you all today?

iamdivergent I hope you get signed off. Sounds like you need it. I know what you mean about the sleep thing. I wasn't this tired with DC1 and had hyperemisis then too.

I had a fairly crap weekend. Got put on antibiotics (penicillin) for a mild UTI and I think they made the sickness worse :( I need to call the Dr, but I am loathe to go on any more (I didn't even realise I had a UTI).

I am 9 weeks now and have lost a stone already. And I feel crap.

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 09/11/2015 08:29

back from Germany, will catch up when I get a spare minute

iamdivergent · 09/11/2015 09:14

Thanks lemons got appt at 10:40. Took my tablet at 7 and only now been able to stomach breakfast, had a slice and half of cold toast with peanut butter and am sipping from and glass of water - fingers crossed it will stay down as I am just so exhausted and the lack for food can't be helping with that feeling.

spandau1980 · 09/11/2015 09:27

I am divergent. .. you r dehydrated so u need stronger tablets.
Possibly hospital.
Keep us posted.
Reebok ---- best of British luck today girl xxx

iamdivergent · 09/11/2015 09:49

Toast back up, have a urine sample for drs which is a dark mustardy colour - who knows what that means. Completely wiped out.

Will keep you posted.

amysmummy12345 · 09/11/2015 11:18

Sounds like you're severely dehydrated Iam, hope the docs can put you right xx

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 09/11/2015 11:31

Iam sounds like dehydration and may need hospital/better meds hope Drs goes ok!

Ems looking forward to the end of the journey (many weeks away!)

spandau how's things?

lucinda how's the eye now?

reebok thinking of you today I hope it goes okay!

iamdivergent · 09/11/2015 12:00

I'm mildly dehydrated dr has told me to stop taking the cyclizine and moved me onto metoclopramide - he said he would expect a noticeable difference within 24hrs. I'm not going to go into work till Wednesday provided I actually do start to feel better. X

CharlieHamer1985 · 09/11/2015 12:10

Hi All, im 15 weeks pregnant with my second ( I have a 8 month old son). Sickness started at 3 weeks for me. For many weeks could not keep food down and really struggled with fluids and rapid weight loss. Dr put me on several types of anti sickness but they didnt work. Then a month ago started on Zofran which has improved me as is helping keep stuff down. Before this it was a real struggle to find energy to do anything. I still have nausea quite bad. But on top of this wen i do manage to eat i get really bad indegestion and my stomach constantly feels like a washing machine. Im taking rennies (as gaviscon makes me sick). Anyone else had this and got any tips

amysmummy12345 · 09/11/2015 12:16

Welcome Charlie! Hats off to you coping with 8 month old and feeling so sick, haven't got any tips but sending hugs xxx

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 09/11/2015 12:20

Welcome Charlie , you'll find lots of helpful advice on this thread, I don't have many tips but have you spoken to gp about starting rinitidine or omemprazole? I find both of them work quite well in regards to acid/indigestion :)
