I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

shoop You poor thing, it's too bad to be admitted at 19 weeks.
And you even managed to laugh off that appalling piece of ignorance about Hyperemesis. Honestly, that sort of thing does make one lose quite a bit of faith in doctors. And FIVE hours wait; i knew the cuts to the NHS were having a bad effect, but this is worrying. And so sweet of you to try and puke quietly...How come some people can? Oh dear, is it like singing? Does one open one's throat wide? Trying to make you laugh, but it's no joke, this...
I hope it's a temporary relapse.
Barmee Oh dear, remind me. Were you the sufferer who gave birth in the bathroom? I'll hope for a quick but not startlingly so birth for you, then. Really sorry about spd.
Thinking of you all.

Thanks for all your good wishes Reebok, Shoop, Bugista and everyone. This thread is the best, really makes you feel so supported!
Well, I'm on the train back after what amounted to a quiet half day. Managed to get through (so far!) with no voms, but did struggle with nausea before lunch. Got it under control with potato. Smile Work feels like a good distraction and colleagues were lovely, but I am tired now and suspect I'll crash on the sofa when I get in.
Don't worry Shoop, Ginger Hit Squad on its way to deal with that stupid doctor. Hope you're feeling better now?
Did you make it to your mum's Reebok? If so I hope it went well.
Bugista, I totally relate about smells. I've not used any perfume since HG started, and DP is forced to put on his deodorant in a different room. What about a Clinique moisturiser? I like their products as they're fragrance-free.
Hope everyone else enduring.

bugista · 05/11/2015 14:47

Thanks MOP, will have a nose at Clinique. Glad to hear your first half day went okay - make sure you get home and onto the sofa for a well deserved rest! x

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 05/11/2015 15:03

shoop thought this would make you laugh - a kind Dr has brought me so biscuits to make me feel better!

MotherofPearl · 05/11/2015 15:18

Ha! Icant, that's very funny! Especially alongside the canula! Like, you're in hospital with multiple illnesses, on loads of meds, a million IV lines... But wait! Could it be that the answer all along was ginger biscuits?! Why didn't we all think of this sooner?!

BarmeeMarmee · 05/11/2015 15:38

Hahaha, oh Shoop not funny really I know but that has made me chuckle! If only it was that simple!

Lucinda yes that was me-you do have a good memory!! Hoping not to have a repeat of that this time, or the PPH that came too!

MoP well done on surviving! Gentle hugs to everyone else.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 05/11/2015 16:12

Mop I know haha! He thought it may help as it did his wife! Bless him. Got 4 different IV lines now so finding it hard to use my hands Blush

waves hi to everyone

spandau1980 · 05/11/2015 16:38

I got the gingerbiscuit comments when I went in...
Got revolting migraine
Chat tomoz x

bugista · 05/11/2015 16:39

Oh poor you icant, what a funny/silly doctor - you kinda want to hug him for his ignorance and smack him over the head at the same time! I hope he noticed all your IV lines and felt a bit silly. Flowers

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 05/11/2015 16:59

Oh no spandau nothing worse :(
I know mop he was the one that added the blue thumb one in! Maybe he thought the biscuits make up for stabbing me multiple times ;)

LucindaE · 05/11/2015 17:06

Ican't Oh dear. Sweet of him, but...really admire the way you can
get a laugh out of it.
Oh dear; lots of peop is in a bad way. I hope shoop is feeling a lot better, and glad things weren't too bad for MotherofPearl. Poor spandau with a migraine. I hope OH's are more or less being considerate. Waves to lovely
Meerka and eallison and everyone. eallisonwhat do the midwives say ab out the projectile vomiting?
BarmeeMarmee I would be unlikely to forget the incongruous drama of that...

OP posts:
shoopshoopsong · 05/11/2015 22:18

Thanks for all the ginger giggles. I Gotta say I laughed at the ridiculousness at the time but cried later when being messed around with conflicting advice on meds! I have been discharged now so was only a brief stay. Apparently I have a UTI so maybe that caused me to have the blip and will be on the up when that's cleared.
icant you brave soul, are you finding things besides doctors being silly to keep you occupied? Are you feeling any improvement with all those IVs? I hope so

eallison88 · 05/11/2015 23:03

I was discharged by midwife soml me weeks ago. Health visitor was useless and doctor said too going to diagnose anything yet . Unhelpful. It's not as bad as it was though. Just gotta plough on, I suppose.

icant both blessings and curses on that doctor. Glad you're able to see the humour in everything. You're veru strong; well done!

spandau hope the migraine eases soon, you don't need that on top of everything else.

bugista hoping no bathroom birth this time!

mop glad work was okay, and hope you weren't too whacked after.

shoop I hope it is just a blip - fingers crossed

Reebok · 06/11/2015 07:50

Hi all, I'm exhausted. Up all night with dd who has conjunctivitis and screamed several times because her eyes were glued together. No nursery which means she's with me today. Really just wanted a day of rest. Going to mums exhausted me yesterday.

Sorry to hear things are still bad icant but glad to hear you are out shoop. Hope the admission helped you. The dreaded G word comments made me laugh! How terrible! Doctors must seriously be educated in Hg.

Well done Mop on getting through work.

I am going back next week for mornings. Pay is going to start dropping so not much I can do. Hoping I will survive as I did it with dd. 15 weeks today!!

Have a better day everyone x

spandau1980 · 06/11/2015 08:43

reebok can I ask if you have stomach ache pain of an eve mine builds up from about 4/5pm and if I eat I wanna be sick if I don't it hurts so ooo bad.
Iv had it weeks now and not easing off.
I'm 14+1 so 6 days behind you . Are you feeling a bit better ? As your reflux ect seemed similar to.mine.. give me light at the end of the tunnel.:)

Head pain only there when I move today no constant bombardment like yest.

Hope everyone's. Day has a positive...
X

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 06/11/2015 10:19

Oh reebok that's terrible :(

Bit gutted night 6 in hotel hospital tonight, had a good consultant on rounds who said they are starting me on steriods for the rest of pregnancy which should help the lupus and make the sickness go - but comes at an increased risk of cleft palate for baby (which runs in the family) but it's needed.
Weighed again and I've lost a lot of weight (but I'm overweight anyway so doesn't bother me!) and said they won't be happy until I gain a bit. (Eugh!)

Catch up with you all soon

LucindaE · 06/11/2015 10:29

Reebok Chloromprenicol is the thing for conjuntivitis - mine was a long standng infection and when the optician recommended it, it cleared it up in three days. I bought it over the counter. Your poor little DD.
It is really painful. You must be exhausted.
shoop and Ican't Dare I ask how you are this morning?
spandau has the dreadful migraine gone?
eallison Sorry they are not being helpful. I hope it'll clear up gradually; my DD had awful 'three months' colic'.
MotherofPearl Don't overdo it says Mother Hen bossily.
amy'smum How are you doing? Everybody?

OP posts:
bugista · 06/11/2015 11:10

Reebok so sorry you had such a rough night, hope your little DD is feeling a bit better. Conjunctivitis is a nightmare (poor you also Lucinda - glad yours has cleared up!).

Icant I'm glad you've got a dr who is taking these things seriously. I know it's scary taking things in pregnancy but it's so important to remember that, as well as the baby, YOU are also very important! You're not just a vessel for your bub. Really hope the steroids help with the lupus and sickness.

Ealli that's rubbish the HCPs couldn't be of more help...hope it continues to improve with bub (no thanks to them!)

Shoop really hope it's just a blip and because of the UTI (rubbish). I know we're quite close in weeks - when is your 20 week scan?

I had a total nightmare morning which was funnily enough not HG related (makes a change!!). I put a sock on and discovered a spider in it...not good for someone with a severe spider phobia - pathetic I know! Thankfully my OH was on hand to calm me down, I'm such a dope. I've got my 20 week scan today so fingers crossed that all goes well! Does anyone else have scans coming up?

Hope everyone else is doing ok xx

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 06/11/2015 11:46

Thank you bugista :)

MotherofPearl · 06/11/2015 17:41

Reebok, you poor thing and your poor DD. Hope you've survived the day. You must be exhausted. Hope you manage to have an early night and good sleep.
How's your day been Spandau? Hope all traces of migraine are gone? That evening stomach pain sounds bad, too.
Icant, sorry to hear that you're still in hospital, and also about the potentially worrying effects of steroids. Hope that they at least eradicate the sickness.
Bugista, hope you've recovered from the horror of Spider-Gate! Awful! I once left a pair of trainers outside. When I went to next put them on, my toe prodded something soft and squishy... A FROG!!!! Horrific, I was traumatised!
I've had a queasy day, but so far vom free. Hope everyone hanging in there.

LucindaE · 06/11/2015 18:47

Lol, everybody, about spiders. How did the scan go, MotherofPearl?
Bugista I hope the bile run is a thing of the past with you, did you say you sitll had it on and off?
I do hope Reebok and DD aren't doing too badly, and that shoop Ican't and spandau are a lot better. Madrigal How are things?
Everyone?

OP posts:
MotherofPearl · 06/11/2015 19:08

Bugista with a scan today, not me Lucinda Wink Wish it was my scan today but only 13 + 5 today. Well done on getting to 15 weeks btw, Reebok. The worst is now surely behind you.

bugista · 06/11/2015 19:30

Thanks MOP I've managed to get over Spider-Gate...just! Haha. Scan went really well, we got a cute pic of bub even though he was being very uncooperative and kept curling up into a ball! Thankfully the sonographer got all the measurements she needed so we don't need to go back.

Lucinda I'm not having an issue with bile anymore - I'm still vomming every couple of days but only in the mornings. Nausea through the day but I'm hoping that'll start to fade as I'm 20 weeks tomorrow!

How is everyone else doing? xx

Reebok · 06/11/2015 19:32

Hi all, today has been very difficult. DD is very demanding in general...worse when she's sick. I've been suffering from a horrible migraine all day which has resulted in vomiting and nausea. Feel like crying. She's asleep right now next to me and I can feel the vomit building up in my throat.

How was the scan bugista?

Spandau I get that pain from the constipation and indigestion. The indigestion usually results in throwing up. That's the only point I feel slightly better apart from the burn. The omprAzole is helping to reduce the acid though. If you're not already on it, it's worth trying.

Icant, shoop, mop hope you're all well. Sorry not to address everyone else's posts individually. Writing this post has taken a while As in between I have vomited. Better day tomorrow hopefully for us all. X

shoopshoopsong · 06/11/2015 20:22

bugista glad your scan went well - mines on Tuesday am looking forward to it.

reebok it's hard enough looking after little one while you're ill let alone when they are too, poor thing? Is OH around this weekend? If so, I hope he is helpful.

I felt OK today but tried to do too much which resulted in me suddenly feeling faint in town with DS and had to call MIL to come and pick us up. When will I learn to take my own advice and not overdo it? My bruised cannula hand should have been a reminder to take it easy.

Frog and spidersgate have both given me a good chuckle thanks Grin
