I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 03/11/2015 18:45

A quick check in, sorry I feel so bad not sending personal messages but I forgot who I'm replying to what and can't see much on my phone! :(
Still in hospital, jaundice back and bad kidney infection. Also have pulmonary embolism so something new to add! Still vomiting, have a subcut line in now as well as 2 canulas as have so many different iv things running so have the anti sickness straight into the subcut which helps. Had a couple
Cups of tea which come back up but feeling very hungry tonight :/ craving McDonald's!
How is everyone?

amysmummy12345 · 03/11/2015 19:12

MotherofPearl · 03/11/2015 19:29

Oh Icant, you poor thing! It all sounds dreadful, and yet you manage to sound so cheerful. You really have a lot to complain about, but remain heroically stoical. Hang in there. X

spandau1980 · 03/11/2015 19:29

I can't very very worried for you and your health... does the HG ease off at 16 ish weeks for you ?? Xxx

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 03/11/2015 20:37

icant really hoping for a turnaround. Sending you all strength

TwoDrifters · 03/11/2015 20:56

Ems10000 that's fantastic! I'm so happy for you!! Hopefully you can enjoy your first few meals with your little one snuggled up to you Smile

So sorry to all the rest who are still suffering. I'm now at 31 weeks, still having bad moments (yesterday I was so sick I gave myself a nose bleed which was a new low!) but it was partly my fault as I didn't realise how few cyclizine I had left & could only get a repeat prescription today through turning up in person & begging my GP receptionist.

Oh well. Onwards & upwards to us all! Flowers

spandau1980 · 03/11/2015 21:42

icant you are very brave to have another pregnancy. Very worried this will really really hurt you. I do hope they can do something to make this preg more comfortable and safe for you.

Everyone else another day done. Even though tbh today has been wayyyyy better than last few for me.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 03/11/2015 21:44

It really wasn't planned :( been offered a medical termination several times but I've wanted 2 so won't after this one. Thank you xx

I'm glad it's been a bit better fx it is for you tomorrow x

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 04/11/2015 08:17

how are you doing today icant?

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 04/11/2015 08:45

Morning Once had an awful night, coughing and being sick with the pain. On treatment for the clot and got a scan later on with dye. My sputum came back positive for pneumonia so on antibiotics for that. If I was a dog id be put down!
Physically the IVs are helping me so that's good :)
How are you? And everyone?

Ems10000 · 04/11/2015 09:24

Good morning everyone! Yesterday was a bit of a blur but I have woken up today with no sickness and no longer feel like I'm on a boat! It is amazing how HG has left instantly. To anyone worried about meds I tried the lot, eventually getting ondansetron at 11weeks and taking it until birth. Liam was two weeks early, weighs 8lb 7oz and is fit and healthy. I've had a lot of constipation pain due to meds and it took a while to convince myself that I was having mild contractions and didn't just need the toilet!!! I got to the hospital at 7pm and he was born at 11pm, contractions were coming with no let up but it took a while for the midwife to believe me! I had a water birth which never appealed to me but I was in so much pain I didn't take much convincing to get in! Keep going ladies, it is all worth it in the end although I know that it's easy to lose sight of that when you're having awful days.

LucindaE · 04/11/2015 10:02

Welcome back to Onceameerkcat whom of course, everyone will recognise as our own invaluable Meerka.
EMS So happy you at last feel better. A water birth is what a lot of people recommend. Thanks so much for coming back with your cheerful mesage. Eight pounds seven ounces is a big baby, and exactly the same weight as my DD on birth.
Ican''t You poor thing. You are very stoic. I hope they get it all under control soon, goodness.
Clarabell Glad they gave you Ondansetron. Did you report in with high ketones and get IV?
GingerLadyFor reassurance, a good idea to ask the doctor to phone you and advise.
MotherofPearl and all those suffering from sink vomits, they are dismal, especially for tidy pukers who normally manage to keep it back. I was NOT one of the iof the Tidy Pukers. More one of the in the street and on the floor variety.
spandau amy Reebok and others, I hope coping today. Bugista glad that things are a little better.

BarmeeMarmee · 04/11/2015 10:59

Morning all. Congratulations Ems that's lovely news! Icant I'm glad you're in the best place and being looked after. Reebok, Spandau, everyone how are you today?

MadrigalElectromotive · 04/11/2015 11:08

Icant I keep thinking of you and hoping you are ok. Hope they manage to get on top of the pneumonia.

Ems lovely to hear your story about little Liam.

Hellos to everyone else.

I was discharged last night but I have a referral to renal because my kidneys aren't coping very well. Annoying, but I am feeling so much better. I am on ondansetron and stemetil and they seem to be working well together. Managed half a piece of toast this morning, and so far have had over a pint of lime juice cordial (for some reason, I am finding this to be really palatable at the moment). Feel a lot more human today so I hope this could be the beginning of getting on top of it all a bit. Fingers crossed.

Reebok · 04/11/2015 11:18

Hi everyone sorry I havent posted...yesterday was a tough day spent in bed. Sorry to hear so many are suffering.

Madrigal you poor thing. Glad the medication is helping.

Icant so sorry you are suffering so badly. Really hope the hospital can help to make you better quickly.

Hope everyone else is ok today.

Feeling weak and nauseous. Got to take dd for her two year check at 2.30...Here's hoping I can make it through. Hopefully everyone has a better day today.

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 04/11/2015 13:02

icant good god, HG plus pneumonia? I hope they are treating you with a great deal of care and attention!

reebok I'd been wondering how you were. YOu are getting some good days now, I hope?? how anyone copes with HG and a lively 2 year old I don't know. Gran and Granpa and childcare took over what, at that point, was a difficult job.

Hoping everyone is surviving ... barmee you must be half way through now?

Mother Hen Im happy with Meerka, didn't want to change really, just had a privacy issue.

am away from tomorrow again til sunday (it's non-stop atm!)

BarmeeMarmee · 04/11/2015 15:31

Meer I'll be 22 weeks tomorrow. Still have good days and bad days but with hindsight better than I was. Now the spd is really kicking in though so have been feeling thoroughly miserable lately. Lurking a lot on here though even though I haven't been posting.

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 04/11/2015 16:06

From HG to SPD :( not good. Are you allowed to take paracetamol at least?

Corabell · 04/11/2015 16:43

I'm wonder if anyone knows what the maximum dose of ondesentron ( spelling !) is?

Reebok · 04/11/2015 16:44

Meer lovely to have you back. How are you getting on? Yes it's really hard with 2 year old...especially an active one! DD was really playing up this morning and I didn't feel well so just burst into tears. Wish my parents could help but they're not well enough to handle dd. ThanK God for full time childcare! Having some good days which are usually followed by awful ones. 15 weeks this Friday. Here's hoping 16 weeks means it will subside like last time!

Barmee glad you're having slightly better dAys.

MotherofPearl · 04/11/2015 16:56

Have had a very nauseous day, and lost my lunch too, so lying in bed feeling sorry for myself. Tomorrow is the start of my phased return to work, so trying to get my strength up. It's only 4 hours I'm going in for, but I commute quite far by train, so quite apprehensive about that. I've made it clear that if I relapse I'm going to get signed off again.
Icant, how horrendous that you now have pneumonia on top of everything else. Have you managed to sort out childcare problems that were a worry before?
Nice to have you back Meerka! You've been missed.
Was it Corabell asking about max dose of Ondansetron? I think it's 3 x 8mg daily, but best check with your doctor. The side effects need to be balanced up against the benefits: I think those of us on 3 x 4mg a day can attest to the horrific constipation, so goodness knows what happens on the max dose.
Big waves to Reebok, Spandau and everyone else.
