I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Congrats on the scan Mop! That's fantastic news.

Icant hope ss can help you in some way.

Spandau I know what you mean...just want to fast forward through this pregnancy already.

Ealli how long did it take for the omprezole to work? It's my first day today so I'm assuming it will take a few days. Having a burning in my throat as I have not taken ranitidine today. In awful pain.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 28/10/2015 12:49

Took a couple of days maybe a week for me reebok

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 28/10/2015 12:57

Quick question ladies, GP rang me (my new one seems v good checks in every day) and I said I've had a lot of Kidney cramps and especially tummy pain with ondanstatron, he's prescribed peppermint oil capsules to take 3x a day - just wondered if any of you had any experience of them?
please tell me they work!

bugista · 28/10/2015 14:46

Haha eali I def want whatever drugs they gave that lady in the show you're watching! ;-)

Sorry to hear people are suffering. Icant I've not heard of peppermind oil capsules but hopefully someone on here will have. Reebok I don't know how long omeprazole takes to work but I know a couple of people who take it and swear by it - apparently it stops the stomach from producing so much acid so that sounds like it could help you, fingers crossed!

I'm back in the office for the very first time today! I felt a bit vommy this morning but was okay and made it in around 11:30. It's actually really nice to see everyone and get back into the old routine a bit. Will try and do this maybe twice a week for the next couple of weeks. I'm 18 weeks now so really hoping the constant nausea is going to go sometime soon.

MOP lovely to hear the scan went well and you have your due date etc, yay!

Hi to everyone else xx

spandau1980 · 28/10/2015 14:49

Meant to be good for indigestion I can't.
I had to stop ondanstron it was awful stuff ...
Still on cyclizine but tbh don't think it's working
Had a complete crying fit at lunch
The acid sick had made me feel rotten and now feel really ill.
So tired and can't do another second of this..
But I HAVE no choice
Everyone seems to be getting on with life ect and I'm sat here stinking of sick ..worrying I'll be sick... what food will not hurt to sick ...
I'm not feeling very strong today ...

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 28/10/2015 15:05

Ooh sounds like good progress bugista :) pleased for you!
spandau wish there was a magic wand :( have you tried omperazole/lanzaprazole? X

shoopshoopsong · 28/10/2015 15:28

Congrats on the scan MoP! & always lovely when they put your dates forward a bit. I'm hoping somehow I've lost count and am 28 weeks instead of 18.....could happen, right? RIGHT?! Grin

Fingers crossed the peppermint works icant I've no experience but worth a go, ay?

bugista well done for making it into work hope they're being kind to you so you don't over do it

So both icant and spandau have scans on Friday if I've remembered what I've read correctly? That will be a good day.

I'm feeling fed up today. Sick and tired of being sick and tired. I am grateful I'm not as pukey as I was a few weeks ago but can't help feeling at 18 weeks and hardly puking that I'm so frustrated I still can barely do anything and just feel sick and exhausted. I was working in my studio just now and excited to be working but had sick-like cramping in my belly I've just had to come upstairs and curl into a ball.

shoopshoopsong · 28/10/2015 15:30

spandau I know ondansetron didn't work out for you but I really feel Cyclizine isn't enough for you is your doctor going to try you on anything else?

spandau1980 · 28/10/2015 15:54

Tried buccastem too ..and metoclopramide sounded scary
Just had a guts full tbh
Other ppl worse than me and I feel selfish for complaining
Just struggling today ...
Sorry for being miserable

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 28/10/2015 16:10

What about stemil spandau? Or see if GP can give you an injection so it gets into your system whilst your so poorly? Don't apologise for being miserable! This is the place where we all understand :)
shoop hope the cramps ease off soon :(

LucindaE · 28/10/2015 17:05

spandau Who wouldn't complain when suffering from this? Besides, that is what this thread is for. Nobody on here is going to be self righteous about a good moan.
Great news about MotherofPearl's scan. That is a boost. 7 May. I'll try and remember that.
shoop I hope those awful cramps go soon.
eallison Sounds a fine idea.[waves]

Lucinda E your.so lovely.

Getting scared about fri but excited .. wow it drags til.first scan
I think they should give woman with this condition more scans in first trimester. Help us through it. Lol
X

Reebok · 28/10/2015 18:17

I feel completely out of it. My sister came over with the kids today. Was lovely as dd got company and my sister looked after me. But it's completely taken it out of me. I feel awful now and so sick. Literally zero energy just because I actually had a conversation with someone today. Is crazy what this sickness does to us. Something so simple can make us feel unwell.

DD was super tired from all the playing and is thankfully knocked out. Loving these early nights but means she's up by 5.50/6am!

Heavenscent86 · 28/10/2015 20:16

Hi everyone. My potassium levels have crept back up so I'm allowed to stay on the ondansetron!! Yay. After a bit of a battle I've managed to get my prescription sorted so go to pick up more at the weekend. My lovely GP has given me emergency ones to tide me over which apparently he shouldn't have done. Unfortunately I have had a very rough two days with the sickness. Praying it goes away soon.
Lucinda I do hope your eye is better now?
I haven't read the thread properly since I was last on but I'm sorry to see so many people are still suffering so badly. I hope tomorrow is a better day for everyone.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 28/10/2015 23:06

Good news heaven :)
Oh no reebok hope you get a good night.
Any of you ladies managed to have an anti sickness injection from GP? Struggling today and really don't want to be admitted x

Reebok · 29/10/2015 08:06

Thanks icant. Unfortunately I can't sleep these days...dd cries, sciatic pain, peeing so I think it affects my nausea. My gp doesn't do injections. I really think they need to start...it would probably keep a lot more women out of the hospital and logically cut down costs!

Heaven glad meds have been sorted.

How's everyone feeling today? 14 weeks tomorrow...come on reebok! Get better now!!!

MotherofPearl · 29/10/2015 08:18

Morning All. Icant, I'm afraid I've only had anti-sickness injections in hospital. How did the visit from social services go?
Bugista, good to hear about your return to work. I'm going back for a half day next Thursday to start my phased return and feeling very nervous. But I'm hoping that I'll also enjoy seeing everyone (I have lovely colleagues), and that it will make the time pass quicker.
Ealli, that fast-forwarding pregnancy idea sounds just the ticket!
Reebok, glad you enjoyed a visit from your sister, but sorry it left you exhausted. I still get tired out very easily, and tiredness always means more sickness.
Heaven, so pleased that you've managed to keep on with Ondansetron, although pity it had to be such a struggle.
Spandau, I'm really hoping for some better days for you, you really deserve it after your suffering. Would you be willing to go back on the Ondansetron at a reduced dose? Maybe if you just took one a day instead of three, you'd still feel the benefit and avoid constipation? I'm pretty sure that the only reason my vomiting is more or less under control is Ondansetron.
Gosh what a marathon post! Thanks for everyone's good wishes about my scan. Icant and Spandau up tomorrow. Smile

Reebok · 29/10/2015 08:31

Thanks Mop. Trying to rest and recover so I can't go to the party on Sunday...a little mad? Yes! But I'm going mad at home. Good luck with the return to work! Hope it goes well. I'm trying to see if I can attempt my return the following week when I will be 15+3! Fx.

Spandau I agree with Mop's advice and also feel my vomiting has been more controlled because of ondansetron. When I have tried to reduce it I feel sick again and have a bad relapse so think I will wait until Xmas holidays to reduce again. It is worth having just one a day of 4mg. Might help you. Fx for better days for you and us all! Xx

Reebok · 29/10/2015 08:32

That was meant to be so I can go to the party!

eallison88 · 29/10/2015 08:55

spandau I agree with the others suggestions of others to try a reduced dose of ondansetron. I know the side effects can be incredibly unpleasant, but trying to find a balance might be a good thing.

reebok I can't remember how long the omeprazole took to take effect, I'm afraid. But I think medication generally takes a few days to get in the system, I'd give it til tomorrow. Fingers crossed it works as well for you as me and others I know.

LucindaE · 29/10/2015 10:47

Reebok I think the isolation, the fact that you can't even talk to people properly, puts the top hat on the suffering. It was brave of you to go for it and try.
Bugista Glad to hear you are feeling well enough to try a staged return - or whatever they call it. I'm happy to hear it hasn't been too bad so far.
I'm keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for much better days soon for Reebok MotherofPearl spandau shoop and everyone. I can't add anything t excellent advice given on here.
Thanks for query about my tiresome conjuntivitis; one always eeems to get it in bothy eyes as it is so infectious. Hopefully on the wane now.

spandau1980 · 29/10/2015 13:39

Hi all I was one one a day plus the cyclizine
It helped.u til the constipation and then was sicker ...
13 weeks today !
Having a rotten nauseau time ...
So tired I could sleep upright
Any one else spend the day belching for England ...
I feel sooooooooo attractive atm
NOT

shoopshoopsong · 29/10/2015 13:39

Lucinda you're right (as usual of course) even at my worst it was the isolation that hurt me the most. sometimes I'll take the knock back for some human interaction!

Reebok · 29/10/2015 14:32

Fx it works by tomorrow ealli. Still feeling acid in my throat.

Thanks Lucinda. The isolationis really getting to me. Sick of the only people I see being the gp,oh and dd. Plus oh and I aren't getting on. He annoys me every time he opens his mouth.

I have the belching problem spandau...often burping up acid too which kills. Hoping the omprezole will kick in soon.

The metal mouth taste is really getting to me today. Tastes extra bad and making me feel sicker. Sucking sweets only work for a few minutes. Arghhhhh. Going to attempt to pick up dd at 4. Oh finishes work later so means I have to do pick up. Dreading it. I feel so shattered and just want to lay in bed and stare at the ceiling.
