I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Good luck reebok.
I'm so tired I could cry.
Having cramps and lower tummy going rock hard.
Worried.
But I'm sure this is normal around 13 weeks??? Anyone x

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 29/10/2015 16:21

Sorry only on here quickly and don't have time to reply to everyone - spadau it's exactly the same to me - to the point I'm in agony and debating hospital (which everyone knows I keep away from!) GP prescribed me the peppermint things and they are helping already. Or speaking from experience uti - please get checked out x x

I'll check back in later and read through all the posts x

MotherofPearl · 29/10/2015 18:11

How was picking up DD from nursery Reebok? I fetched DS yesterday for the first time since HG started! The staff were all so nice to me, gave me a lift.
On belching: I don't belch all the time but when I'm sick the vom session usually begins with some horrific belches! Blush
I've had a reasonable day. Managed a short walk to the shops and even bought a few food things. Now feeling very tired.
Thinking of Icant and Spandau for their scans tomorrow.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 29/10/2015 18:13

Glad you got out MoP :), hopefully you get a good nights rest.
Thank you, nervous but excited. Can't see how I'd be able to drink a litre of fluid before hand without being sick :(

Reebok · 29/10/2015 18:18

It was hard but the staff were also wonderful. They asked why they hadn't seen me in so long...oh has just said my wife is unwell when they ask so I told them and they were really kind and considerate...offering me use of loos if I needed a wee or to throw up! Haha! DD was super excited and was bouncing up and down screaming mummy come! Absolutely shattered now...it's taken it out of me but luckily dd is knocked out. She's not been sleeping well at nursery so is tired by 6pm. Glad you have managed a walk to the shops...nice to try and feel normal sometimes isn't it.

Spandau get it checked out. Could be constipation or a uti.

Icant what are these peppermint things for?

Good luck with the scans tomorrow ladies! I'm sure it will go well for you both. Xx

Reebok · 29/10/2015 18:19

By the way icant I barely drank anything before mine. They were told by my midwife that I have hyperemesis so they were understanding and said to try sip what I could. So don't worry too much.

spandau1980 · 29/10/2015 18:22

MOP glad ur days been a good one in HG terms.
I can't I hope ur tummy.settles.. wonder if the peppermint might have caused ur pain ?
My stomach every evening from about 5 30 starts to ache and grumble and builds up and up til it's a relief to throw

I have nt a clue what to try n eat any more
Everything is revolting or causes stomach nauseau feeling after for hrs

I'm so low and can't seem to see woods for trees.

OH keeps saying how dd is being affecting and it's all this pregnancies fault and how I shouldn't have kept on with it.

This is not helping me fight this evil HG ... I WILL get better why does he have to be an absolute arse whilst I get thru it ...

Hope to god all goes.ok tomorrow withmy scan ... worried sick it'll be missing a limb or have downs or not be ok

Be so glad when all this sickness.is a distant memory. I remember with.dd I thought if I MC I couldn't do it again so didn't really enjoy preg as wanted her sooooooooo badly and knew I couldn't do HG again... yet here I am AGAIN

My dad said today come on you ve done it before you know ULL be ok .. try to forget about it ...
Grrr each time is worse not easier .. just because I've trod this rd before don't make the path any easier to follow ... in fact KNOWING I won't feel better yet makes it worse !!!!!!

Rant over

spandau1980 · 29/10/2015 18:27

I've never had any fluid in me for scans and iv always been ok. The pint of water comment makes me laugh (hysterically) every time.. I'm always the one sat in the waiting room looking like death ... clutching a hospital cardboard bowl .. while others sit there looking fab giving me sympathetic smiles...
Can't wait for tomorrow .. now I'll be the old fart looking like shit clutching my bowl ... haha oh I'm sooooooooo cheerful atm

Ems10000 · 29/10/2015 20:53

Hi ladies, I didn't drink before any of my scans either and it was fine. Hope everyone has a better day tomorrow, sorry for short post - I'm just exhausted! Sad

eallison88 · 30/10/2015 02:54

So I've eaten something that doesn't agree with me. Awake for the last 3 hours trying to soothe the baby around vomiting myself. Horrid flashbacks! I hope you ladies are all having better nights! If I can him to sleep, and get an hour sleep I'll feel better... where's the ondansetron?!

Reebok · 30/10/2015 10:34

Sorry to hear you're being sick ealli. Get some rest ems! Not long now!

Good luck to spandau and Icant with scans today.

I'm so proud of myself! I dropped dd off to nursery today. Feel shattered so will rest until pick up at 4. Think omeprazole is working slightly better this morning. No acid in throat so far! 14 weeks today.

bugista · 30/10/2015 10:43

Oh my ealli that's terrible luck! Hope your stomach settles really quickly, you def don't need that!

Ems hope you're ok! When is EDD?

Exciting, scans today!! Good luck spandau and icant let us know how you get on. Really hope this gives you both a boost as you've been through the wars!

Well done reebok and all fingers and toes crossed that the omeprazole is helping you!

I'm on the train into work, leaving late to up my chances of getting a seat and got one today! My first day in went well, I was so nervous but it was soo lovely to see colleagues and actually feel part of something again. Going to try a couple of days a week and see how I go. MoP best of luck for you when you go in, hope it goes well but don't overdo it and take good care of yourself!

Happy Friday everyone (or vom free Friday more to the point) xx

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 30/10/2015 11:19

Oh no eallison that's rough poor you :(

Glad there's a start to the effects of omperazole :) spandau

Fingers crossed work goes well for you bugista happy Friday :)

spandau your scan was before mine? Hope it's gone ok! Or was it 1130? Mines 12:50 let us know how it goes and hope you aren't sat in the waiting room with a sick bowl (or I carry a bag for life haha- no holes)

Mop, ems, grey, daffodil how are you?

How's the eye mother hen? lucinda

I'm full of cold and bad throat/head, so not much sleep, sickness okay now as ondanstatron has worked its magic. I smell like a Vicks vapour rub factory, catch up later x

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 30/10/2015 11:20

Ugh so sorry reebok the omperazole comment was for you not spandau!
Well done on nursery run - make sure you do get lots of rest (hopefully vom free) until 4 x

Reebok · 30/10/2015 11:42

Thanks icant and bugista: well done on the return to work!

My bottom is so sore! These piles are killing me. I have seriously forgotten how to use the loo without an enema or suppository! Constipation is so bad but I have to deal with it as it means sickness is easier to handle.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 30/10/2015 16:58

Same here for sore bottom reebok
spandau any news? Flowers

LucindaE · 30/10/2015 18:05

Ican't I hope all was well, can't find that bit of post...
Hoping all was well with spandau too. I am sure spandau does not look 'like s**t' even if she feels like it. These men and their annoying remarks; if there is anything in reincarnation, they deserve to be reborn as a woman who gets this. Perhaps there will be a cure by then, though...
Ican't I still look like a vampire with these red eyes. As I remarked below, very seasonal...
Reebok and MotherofPearl Congratulations on makinng it to nursery pick up and nice for your LO's.

Reebok and others - I'm sure I saw a gel advertised in Boots that was supposed to 'do away with the pain of piles like magic' illustrated with a picture of someone riding a bicycle. I wish I remember what it's called (not as if I'm recommending that anyone with this rides a bicycle, mind you).
EMS I have given the Pink Castle great hall a thorough dusting in readiness for you.
eallison Sorry that you feel so bad. I hope a bit better today?
Bugista Brave of you to catch a train.
Shoop It is miserable.
I hope Daffodil Heavenscent and everyone is coping and that Pebbles did get meds and a sick note.

eallison88 · 30/10/2015 18:33

Luckily it was a case of a few hours vomiting, then feeling fine. I did feel very blessed mid morning when I felt normal again, and really felt for you ladies. I do now have an abscess in my right breast, which is agony, but now on antibiotics. Hoping there will be no unpleasant side effects (and not looking forward to the inevitable runny poos from the boy!). lucinda hoping the eyes get better soon, you seem very prone to eye infections, you poor thing!

reebok glad the omeprazole seems to be having a positive impact, fingers crossed that continues!

Hope scans went well tiday and you weren't too sick waiting for them!

Reebok · 30/10/2015 18:55

Thanks Lucinda and Ealli. The acid burn has started up again this evening but at least it's not all day like it usually is. So some progress made.

Ealli could the antibiotics be causing the vomiting? I'm allergic to a certain antibiotic and it makes me vomit/nauseous.

Any news Icant and spandau? Been thinking of you both.

Survived the nursery pick up but once again I'm drained. It's not even far! That's the crazy thing. Luckily little madam has just fallen asleep...but unfortunately means early wake up call tomorrow. Ahh kids eh!

Ems10000 · 30/10/2015 18:59

Hi everyone, hope scans went well! Reebok I know it doesn't really help but my friend who has had a fantastic pregnancy throughout is now suffering with piles so although it's probably the meds fault you may still have suffered. Due date is 2 weeks on Sunday, just ran a bath for dd and still retching at the smell of the water!! DH can't comprehend it at all! Slept about an hour last night and all that was sat up due to acid reflux, my throat has been awful today. I'm also getting a lot of trapped wind pain between my shoulder blades. ealli hope the antibiotics kick in quickly and you feel better. lucinda thank you for preparing the castle, I can't wait to get there!!

MadrigalElectromotive · 30/10/2015 19:06

HI everyone, sorry to have been absent from the thread for a while. I have been feeling pretty low the last few days and found it difficult to summon the energy for posting.

Reebok well done for doing the nursery run, and I hope you other half gives you a good break over the weekend.

eallison vomming after you have had the baby is most unfair! I hope it doesn't recur.

Well done for getting back to work bugista - that feels like a pretty distant prospect for me at the moment, and I'm glad you enjoyed the company.

Hope Icant, MOP and spandau are ok. Sorry to anyone I've missed.

As for me, it has been a pretty difficult week. Lots of vomming and nausea, as well as twitching from the Metoclopramide. So the GP has put me on Domperidone, but I don't think it is cutting it. He didn't seem to have heard of Ondansetron when I asked him about it the other day, and doesn't like prescribing in pregnancy so I'm trying to cope at the moment.

I am 9 weeks today, and I have booked a private scan for Sunday. Hoping it will make me feel a bit more excited about the pregnancy - at the moment I feel completely disconnected from it, and I have lost interest in my pregnancy apps etc.

For some reason, the only thing I seem to be able to keep down is scotch eggs - only about a quarter or a half at a time but at least it is something. I don't normally even like scotch eggs. Confused

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 30/10/2015 19:14

Sorry to hear your having a rough time madrigal :(

I totally get how things make you exhausted reebok

eallison looks like your having a bad time you poor thing! How's mini eallison?

ems I really hope these 2 weeks fly by!

lucinda at least you don't have to worry about a Halloween costume Halloween Grin sorry that's a bad joke!

My scan went well, been waiting to hear from spandau as didn't want to post if she didn't have a good one :(
I'm measuring 12+2 when I thought it was 11+5 so new ddate of 11th may.
I've been told baby will be born 36-37 weeks latest so between 11-18th April as my body really can't cope with pregnancy.
Having 2x weekly blood tests and weekly consultant appts as well as with other departments so a very busy few months but feel a bit happier seeing the baby :)

eallison88 · 30/10/2015 19:47

Only got antibiotics today, so that's not the cause of the vomiting, reebok. The doc did have a right faff trying to work out what antibiotics I could have - allergic to penicillin and breastfeeding makes it complicated, apparently! Hopefully a few more days build up of omeprazole will cut the acid further reebok.

icant I'm glad your scan went well and you were moved forward a few days - also that they're gonna induce earlier - at least you know you're not in for the full haul - though that probably doesn't help you in the throws of vomming! Baby is alright, still full of cold (he's had this longer than he hasn't had it!) but the doctor wasn't overly worried about him so I'm not stressing too much (or at least trying not to!). Thanks for asking.

madrigalit doesn't seem to be that unusual that the goods we can stomach in the middle of HG are things we don't normally like!

spandau1980 · 30/10/2015 20:08

Hi all
Baby looked fine bouncing around lol
Threw up.a couple times.lol.
Had nuchal. Scan and was 2.4 mm at 13 +1 weeks (bang on my dates :) )
Is this OK ? They said anything under 3.5 mm but still worried
Had bloods too so guess wait on the results...
My HG has really ripped.into me this week another surge??

I can't glad your further on ;)

Xxx to all

Gingerlady123 · 30/10/2015 20:14

Hi spandau, your nuchal reading is fine. Mine was 2.6 and combined with bloods I got 1:3600 for downs n 1:75000 for t13 and t18. Had 20 week scan n all good so don't panic
