I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

X

Reebok · 27/10/2015 18:59

Hi all, the thread has been quiet today...hopefully that's because we are all magically better and off scoffing our faces and chugging on water....wishful thinking.

Anyway not an awful morning for me. Managed to keep down some food and didn't feel horrendous so I decided to attempt a bit of cleaning...first time in almost 2 months! The dirt was just staring me in the face...BIG MISTAKE!! It made me feel worse so I had to give up after 5 minutes and lay down in bed for the rest of the day. Have attempted a baked potato...this was my specialty go to food towards the improving part of my hg days with dd....hasn't come up yet so fx! DD has been exhausting me since she came home. She's literally stuck to me and everything is 'mummy mummy mummy.' Think the poor baby has been missing mummy time. Cannot wait to give my time to her again when I'm hopefully better! She's asleep so now I'm laying in bed feeling like crap. Another day is done...fx tomorrow will mean a longer session of improvement.

Daffodil and spandau sorry to hear you're both feeling so rough. Hugs.

How is everyone else doing? Mop, Ems, icant, pebbles, meerka, barmee, bugista? Sorry for those I haven't named...brain dead.
Waves to wonderful Mother Hen...hope your eye is better. X

LucindaE · 27/10/2015 19:22

Reebok Best of luck with the baked potato. MotherofPearl Oh no, poor you, pasta is not nice to vomit. Reebok MotherofPearland Spandau Pasta - aagh, I have a funny story about that from when I was suffering, and stupidly ate some pasta bake. Running past the wardrobe on the way to the loo, i puked violently all over it. I thought I had cleaned it up, but later OH asked me what those red 'paint marks' were higher up on the wardrobe (they were tomato). I couldn't face a pasta bake in years.
Daffodil Thanks for cyber hugs, much appreciated. Early maternity leave sounds a good idea. I so agree with what you say about sick notes.
Pebbles601 Do, please, ring that number for help in getting a sick note for a sensible amount of time.
spandau Don't feel guilty; how could you enjoy being pregnant in these circumstances; it doesn't mean you don't want the baby. The chances are massively that all will be well and you will get a boost from the scan, of course; but it's an anxious time.
Reebok I'm glad that doctor was sympathetic. Remind me about what the new drug does; is it an addition as an anti emetic or for one of the other lovely symptoms one has with this?
EMS That physio sounds good, using acupuncture.
Waves to all. Apologies if I have rudely overlooked anyone.

Sounds like a slight improvement for you reebok :) hope it stays down for you and again tomorrow.. Keeping my fingers firmly crossed!
Sorry to hear about the bad sleep/reflux spandau
Not sure if I've said welcome yet dafodil (my fave flower!) so welcome anyway!

I'm still battling with headaches, sickness, lupus. And now back weeing blood again. It's never ending!
Sent DS to nursery for one day of respite over the holidays and after 2 hours I had a call to pick him up - he said he has a bad tummy and needed mummy, he's so clingy ATM and hears me saying I've a bad tummy so think he's picked up on that as he's physically fine!
Think being in and out of hospital has really affected him, he's awake every hour in the night and just won't leave my side :( feel so horrible for it!

MotherofPearl · 27/10/2015 19:36

Quiet on here today; how is everyone doing? Reebok? Spandau? Pebbles? Icant? Madrigal? Daffodil? Barmee? Shoop? Ems? And anyone else I've stupidly forgotten?
I've had a better day than yesterday. A colleague of mine who is also a good friend came to see me. Her DS and my DD played nicely together and she was fine with me lying on the sofa while we chatted. Was nice to have some contact with the outside world, especially with going back to work next week.
12 week scan tomorrow morning so fx all is well. Also seeing consultant to discuss birth plan in view of my terrible agedness (41!!). Here's hoping they offer me a C-section at 38 weeks eh?! Wishful thinking I'm sure. Really hope everyone has had a bearable day.

MotherofPearl · 27/10/2015 19:46

Sorry don't think I'd refreshed the thread as X-posted with Reebok, Lucinda and Icant. Glad your day was a bit better Reebok. That's a cautionary tale for us all: do not attempt any cleaning! I fancy a baked potato now you've mentioned it.
Gosh Icant, you really are in a bad way, I do feel for you. If you're weeing blood that sounds like you should be admitted? You are heroic coping with HG and lupus. It sounds like you're giving your little boy the love and reassurance he needs; I'm sure he will be fine. Make sure you're also taking care of yourself. x
Waves to Lucinda. x

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 27/10/2015 19:59

There's not much they can do but looks that way, I had an operation scheduled last month on my left kidney but it was cancelled because of pregnancy. Even though obs/gynae said it was needed!
Thank you Mop.
Eek good luck for your scan! And hopefully you have a nice consultant!
I've mine Friday and consultant after. X

Reebok · 27/10/2015 20:06

Icant you poor thing. You are amazing with everything you're going through. Hugs. With regards to ds being clingy can completely relate...dd will only sleep in my bed and cries constantly if I turn over or let go of her hand.

Mop so pleased you had a better day.

Lucinda I've been taken off ranitidine and put on omprezole for the acid reflux. Hoping it will work better as the reflux makes hg worse. As if it wasn't enough to suffer with vomiting anyway! Spandau from what I've heard on past threads it works better than ranitidine. Might be worth pushing your gp to put you on it as your reflux sounds as bad as mine.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 27/10/2015 20:20

Thank you reebok I'm just a mess tbh! This thread keeps me going.
Aw no is she? They pick up on so much don't they!
Omeprazole really helps but if you find it doesn't then there's lanzaprazole to try too :)

Reebok · 27/10/2015 20:26

Oh only picked it up today and I had already taken my ranitidine in the morning so have to start it tomorrow. Dreading it as the tablets are so big!!!

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 27/10/2015 20:39

They are big but hollow if you have the capsules? They taste a bit metally to me but 100% worth it.

shoopshoopsong · 27/10/2015 21:34

Oh icant I don't know how you are coping with lupus as well. Will you be admitted again re the blood then? When's your next checkup?

Glad you've had a better day MoP and hope the scan goes smoothly and that your consultant is kind I shall be thinking of you.

Reebok - cleaning really you should know better! I've been thinking of investing in a cleaner for months but truth is I'm embarrassed at the state of my house...

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 28/10/2015 05:23

I hate HG AngryHaloween Sad

So sick :(

I'm another one with a shocking house that my rarely visiting mother will let me know often but won't help

Reebok · 28/10/2015 07:30

I know I know shoop (hangs head in shame). I've learnt my lesson.

Mop good luck for the scan. Will be thinking of you.

Icant do you find once you take the omprezole it makes you burp up this weird taste? Have taken my first one and every time I burp I get this funny after taste.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 28/10/2015 08:32

Yes I get that reebok :)

spandau1980 · 28/10/2015 08:36

Burping helps my nausea lol
I can't you deserve a medal girl wish I was nearer to help out ...
My dd isn't sleeping sell and v clingy too.
Iv not said anything about babu I'm waiting for scan on Fri to be ok.
My 11 yr old hates seeing me sick and isn't a happy bunny atm.
Older too are coping better x

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 28/10/2015 09:15

Aw thank you spandau. I've SServices coming today - Hv Made a referral to see if they could help me :/ so the stress of that isn't helping.
These young uns are so sensitive aren't they :(
Aw bless them :( I've my 12 week scan Friday :) x

LucindaE · 28/10/2015 10:29

Ican't That blood in urine does sound alarming; I so agree with others that you are amazing coping with all this. I hope Social Services can sort something out for a change.
spandau You too, and all of you. Reebok Surely the GP doesn't advocate the return to work you threaten in a couple of weeks? Bossy Mother Hen doesn't think it possible until you turn the corner. When did things get better in your last pregnancy, my recollection is that things did get a lot better for you, but I don't remember when? Certainly they do for almost everyone, even the unlucky ones like Ems who suffer throughout. Not sure if you saw my last post, but I was wondering what particular horrible symptom teh new drug the dr prescribed was for?
MotherofPearl Slatternliness is the only attitude to adopt. Some lucky people on here have been able to afford to pay a cleaner to do a few hours a week. I wish I could at least summon up for you all the magic disembodied hands that did all the cleaning in The Beauty and the Beast.

How is everyone today - dare I ask?

OP posts:
spandau1980 · 28/10/2015 10:36

Acid sick every where all over my hands hair face .. I'm so angry
I'm 13 weeks tomorrow and have another 3 weeks at least of this
Why are we being punished like this

Reebok · 28/10/2015 10:50

lucinda no gp doesn't agree with a return to work yet but I think I may have to as I will get a cut in pay and can't afford it. The new medication is for the acid reflux. I've been taken off ranitidine as it wasn't helping and put on omprezole instead. Hopefully it works. Last time I returned to work at 15 weeks and the sickness started to ease and subside at 16 weeks...it came back now and then but was nowhere near as bad. Hoping to be just as lucky this time.

MotherofPearl · 28/10/2015 10:59

Well I'm back from my appointment and all is well. Am a bit further on than they thought at 12 + 4, and new due date of 7 May. Consultant says they will induce me between 39 and 40 weeks, so anytime during the first week of May. This has given me a real lift! Feels good having a certain end point, and was sweet to see baby looking so well-formed. Thanks for everyone's good wishes before.
Spandau, that sounds horrific, poor you. Hope your day improves.
Icant, hope all goes well with Social Services and that they can offer help and support.
Reebok, hope you start to get some relief from the omprezole. Your reflux sounds very bad.
Thanks for the nice message Lucinda; I'm fortunate in having a cleaner once a week for a couple of hours, but even with her help it often feels like a tip around here!

spandau1980 · 28/10/2015 11:12

MoP so glad all went well.
Mine on Fri 11 20 am
Want to see baby now. Need a lift too.. had a guts full lol

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 28/10/2015 11:19

Aw fab news MoP :)
Mines 12:50 friday, think I'll be 11+6 but hoping more! I always seem to jump a few days everytime I'm scanned.

spandau1980 · 28/10/2015 11:28

Can I jump 25 weeks pls lol

eallison88 · 28/10/2015 12:12

reebok omeprazole was a real game changer for me when ranitidine didn't work; fingers crossed is the same for you.

icant hoping social services are able to offer support. I have a love hate relationship with ss; many family members are social workers and i see how much they care and how hard they work. But working in education, the ninety of children we try to refer who "don't meet threshold" is infuriating, and even those who have social workers it can be so frustrating how little they seem willing/able to do. Hoping you get a good one. Let us know how you get on.

mop yay for being a bit further on than you thought! And yay for having a definite end date. I often said to my husband in the last few weeks that it would be so much easier to deal with if there was a definite end point!

Hope everyone else is managing! spandau if I had a magic wand and could jump you forward 25 weeks I so would! Was watching an American tv show on Netflix the other day, and the main character found out she was 8 weeks pregnant. She was then kidnapped and they gave her drugs that accelerated her pregnancy so she was at term in a matter of hours... If only, hey?! (Yes, this show sounds very odd, but hubby and I are somewhat addicted. It's called Fringe in case anyone needs some good ol' escapism! Pacey from Dawson Creek is in it - which may or may not be the reason I allowed hubby to convince me to watch it in the first place!!!)
