I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hi All, sorry for silence. My phone died and it's taken a couple of days to sort a new phone and get set up. DP kindly treated me to a new phone.
Shoop, I've not had my flu jab but I know I'm meant to sort it out. Have you recovered from your Ondanestron-free days now? I'd like to be less reliant on it, but don't envisage that happening for a while.
Reebok, how are you today? Sorry to hear that yesterday was a bad day. Looking forward to hearing about your scan tomorrow.
Spandau, glad to hear that you've had some relief from the constipation. In addition to the enema, Kalidasa also took Movicol, the impaction dose. Sorry that the spitting problem has started; I am still suffering badly with spitting. It's now the main reason I can't leave the house.
Waves to everyone and hope all are coping.

BarmeeMarmee · 21/10/2015 11:13

Hi everyone. Having a bad day and feeling very sorry for myself. Managed to drop the DCs off at school etc and fought the vomit till I got in. Now just been lying on the sofa shivering. Got to collect DD at 12 so trying to summon up the energy. Got to try and sit through DS's parents evening later too so that will be fun.

Hope you're all having better days. MoP sorry the spitting is still an issue for you.

Reebok · 21/10/2015 11:50

Hi all, feeling a lot better today. Very little nausea so far and no vomits as of yet. Hopefully it lasts the full day! Having an increase in cravings which I hope is a good sign...chocolate being one of them but having to avoid it for reflux.

Sorry to hear so many of you feel awful. Spandau glad you got some relief...hopefully you will start to have some better days soon.

Shoop I'm avoiding my flu jab...I tend to get sick after having it and don't really want to have to deal with it and being sick too.

The spitting really is annoying. When will it stop? Gives me a horrid taste in my mouth!

Barmee sorry today is so hard. Hugs. Waves to everyone.

LucindaE · 21/10/2015 12:13

ICan't Are you still in hospital? Hope you are less green.
spandau I am so glad the bowels finally moved with that ducolax. I hadn't heard of that; is it on prescription? But, as there's no timi on here, it seems odd that there was not a lot of faeces as it had been so long.
Sorry that you feel so foul and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the Good Day Fairy visits you soon. You put things so effectively with the layout, oh dear. Often puking is preferable to feeling endlessly sick.
Reebok I was about to condole with you on a bad day after a break and you're having another not too bad one. Seems hopeful. Good luck with scan.
MotherofPearl Nice to get a new mobile, anyway. How are things, now?
BarmeeMarmeePoor old you. I think my good wishes for pick up journey are too late.
I hope all went well.
TwoDrifters Good advice for Carabell. Remind me - were you on cyclizine and something else?
shoop There is a nasty cold going about of the 'Man Flu' variety, but not the real type of flu yet, hopefully. A cold is bad enough, when you feel awful anyway.
Apologies if I've left anyone out.

Came home last night and the vomiting is back in full force today :(
But least I know I've a good few days of still being hydrated.
Flowers for you all

spandau1980 · 21/10/2015 13:34

Anyone got advise on the yuk taste in mouth after you eat or drink anything
It makes my nausea so much worse :(

BarmeeMarmee · 21/10/2015 14:07

Thanks all. Managed pick up ok but I'm afraid DD has been sat in front of the TV since we got back.

Spandau I'm 20 weeks tomorrow.

Icant fingers crossed you won't go back to how things were before. Please do keep an eye on things and take care of yourself.

Reebok · 21/10/2015 16:02

Nausea seems to have increased as the day goes on. Back in bed. The taste in my mouth is horrible and won't go. Starburst take it away for a few minutes or any other sucking sweet Spandau. Yep scan is tomorrow. So scared.

Icant hopefully the rehydration will help you feel better for a little while. I find that the moment I'm out of hospital I feel wretched again. Barmee you poor thing. I'm
Sure dd is fine. Just try to rest.

spandau1980 · 21/10/2015 16:21

Reebok
Did you have HG and still mis carry last time ? How far along were you ?
I'm sure everything ll be great tomoz but until u see it you ll still be so worried.
Xx

Reebok · 21/10/2015 16:29

Yes....have had hg every single time I've been pregnant. This is my 4th pregnancy but I've miscarried twice. That's why sickness means nothing to me...I don't find it to be comforting at all. First time I had a mmc. Found out 8 weeks and was sick until my erpc at the 11 weeks. Last time I miscarried naturally at 7 weeks. Really hope so. Would hate to go through this again for nothing.

spandau1980 · 21/10/2015 17:46

Bloody heck hun
I had mmc but no sickness was my massive clue all was not well.
You are 12 /13 weeks now so the chnaces are like 1 % and below
I'm sure baby is gonna torment you to the day you give birth ;).
I can't believe they let you be so ill for another 3 weeks waiting on an ercp !
No wonder your all out of steam as this is torture 4th time along.
Hope that made sense and was of some reassurance :/
Xx

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 21/10/2015 18:24

Keeping everything crossed for you tomorrow x

Reebok · 21/10/2015 19:06

Thanks for the reassurance spandau and the kind words icant. Have already told oh that if something goes wrong again this time, I officially give up and cannot try again. It's too much especially with the hg. My body can't take much more and neither can my heart. Will let you all know either way.

Anyway how's everyone feeling? Hope managing ok....dd is asleep so that's another day done for me. In bed...not that I will be able to sleep with the nausea and thoughts in my head....oh and the constant peeing! As I drink most my water throughout the night as I sleep, I find myself going to the loo 4/5 times a night!

spandau1980 · 21/10/2015 20:30

EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ABSOLUTELY FINE
Flowers
Been sick and the reflux acid was nasty
Still feel it now
Another one down 12 weeks tomorrow
So according to everyone else I should wake up miraculously feeling 100%

Sarcastic? Moi?

Reebok · 21/10/2015 20:43

Thanks spandau. (Love your caps lock!!)....oh tell me about it! People keep telling me oh by 12 weeks it should be like a light switch going on.....erm well I'm either 12.3 or 13.4...where the hell is my light switch??

You poor thing...the reflux is awful isn't it. Got the burn myself right now so can't sleep. I wish my doctor would either increase my ranitidine (on 300mg a day) or give me the other drug! Have you tried ice lollies? It soothes the burn...I'm assuming you can't keep down dairy like me or would have suggested that. I know you said you like chocolate buttons but try avoid if you can...it aggravates reflux. Fingers crossed you will have a better day soon. Flowers

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 21/10/2015 21:07

I'm with you ladies on the 12 weeks! See a gp who's admittedly lovely today and said he done a PhD in Hg and as I'm 12 weeks next week the sickness should go!
Also he told me a Pescription of ondasntarton costs £76 to the NHS (don't pay in Wales) and that's why he thinks people don't like prescribing it as a warning came up on his screen about cost!
Eugh I'm never having a baby again should have had a surrogate!
What times your appt tomorrow reebok?
Eucch to the acid reflux spews spandau I feel your pain.
Hope everyone else is ok :)

Melleebacca · 22/10/2015 05:34

Good luck with your scan Reebok! I'm hopeful your suffering is worth it!

Spandau - I found chocolate the worst to come up. Anything with refined sugar just burnt my throat. I take dolomite (calcium/magnesium) for heartburn/reflux.

Icant - my stepmum had HG and she said you normally get improvement every 4 weeks after 12 weeks. So slight improvement around 12, 16, 20 and 24 weeks etc. With HG I think it's a really gradual improvement because of how bad it gets, and with normal MS it's more of a quick magical switch.

Reebok · 22/10/2015 07:34

It's at 12.30...thanks Mellee. Have barely slept all night.

Icant wow that's expensive! I still don't get why my gp only prescribes a week at a time then if it costs that much each time he prescribes it. Makes no sense.

Hope everyone has a better day today.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 22/10/2015 08:11

Ah that's really interesting about the every 4 weeks melle
reebok maybe it's in the hope that we all recover magically in the space of a week so won't need anymore!'
Good luck today Flowers

MotherofPearl · 22/10/2015 08:21

Reebok, thinking of you at your scan today, hope it goes really well. x
Spandau, that acid reflux sounds nasty. LOL about 12 weeks! It's such rubbish isn't it! I was sick right until the end last time, really hoping that won't be the case this time.
I had dreadful insomnia last night and woke myself up choking on spit a few times. Revolting. Now feeling pretty sick this morning which is unusual for me. Normally it takes a while to build.
Hoping for better days for Barmee, Icant and everyone.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 22/10/2015 09:01

Oh no MoP :( do you have a chance to catch up on rest today?
Pretty tired today but have blood tests and hosp appt and can't find the space for a nap ugh

TwoDrifters · 22/10/2015 10:22

LucindaE I also took metoclopramide but only for the 5 recommended days as the possible side effects scared me too much! So it's just been the trusty ol' cyclizine for me the rest of the way. Still taking it, despite the fact that I'm 30 weeks on Monday!

Reebok I'll be thinking of you at 12:30 and hoping all goes well.

So sorry that everyone else is still suffering. For those who keep being told "it'll be fine after 12 weeks!" don't get your hopes up, unfortunately! But it will, it honestly will, ever so gradually start to fade…

I'm still sick even now in the mornings but only once or twice which feels amazing compared to how it was in the past!

And on a positive note - my DH used to be slightly squeamish about things like vomit but is now so blasé about taking and emptying my plastic jug (!) that he feels much better equipped to deal with baby vomit when it inevitably comes! So, every cloud Wink

Ems10000 · 22/10/2015 10:36

reebok will be thinking about you today, I hope everything goes well. The improvement will come gradually now and you will have a mixture of good and bad days, but hopefully more good than bad! My gp would only prescribe me 10 tablets at a time, he said if he requested much more the pharmacist wouldn't dispense them due to cost?! I requested a double prescription back in June to cover a 2 week holiday abroad and I've received 20 tablets in each prescription ever since. I'm only taking one a day now so i don't feel like I'm ringing up every other day for a repeat prescription!

spandau1980 · 22/10/2015 12:13

12 weeks today
And I've woke up this morning like a new woman
Glowing no sickness eating and drinking

Oh no
wait
That as a DREAM

Dammit

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 22/10/2015 12:24

Ah damn those stupid dreams ;)

I've rang my midwife as woke up with no symptoms, no nausea, sickness, heartburn, etc and just feel something's wrong.
She just laughed at me and said "morning" sickness disappears by itself by 12 weeks . (I'm 10+6) and last time had it throughout last time.

Please say I'm just being silly ConfusedBlush
