I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Anyone had problems getting hold of their tablets? I'm still on ondansetron. It's generally stopping me from being sick but I still feel very very nauseous all the time. GPs have refused to prescribe it for me twice so both times I've been to the hospital. Anyway I called the hospital today to ask for more and they are refusing to prescribe it because I need to go to my GP for it. I don't know what to do now. So scared I'm not going to get any more.

Corabell · 19/10/2015 18:39

Hello

Can I ask how people are spacing out their cyclizine doses?

Thanks

LucindaE · 19/10/2015 18:40

Heavenscent I think the best thing to do is to phone the Pregnancy Sickness Support people on 024 7368 2020. They have to ring you back, ut you'll get a really sympathetic retired doctor who has really helped women on this thread to obtain meds when they were in your sort of situation.
spandau You poor thing, I think that will definitely need treatment by enema at the surgery or something. I hope they ring back soon.
Ican't Sorry you are still in, but you need the rest.
MotherofPearl and Reebok Hopefully that slight respite was a sign of things to come, and needed.
eallison I hope all is well...
EMS You must be right about position, then.

Apologies if I've rudely overlooked anyone...

Been told to take dulcolax pico liquid
Won't do an enema
:(

shoopshoopsong · 19/10/2015 18:53

Hi all, I lost the thread for a bit there. I was cocky about feeling a bit better and ran out of ondansetron and thought I'd be ok with just metoclopramide and cyclizine, but turns out I'm not so back to the doctors tomorrow hopefully. So disheartened.

Reebok · 19/10/2015 20:22

Hi all, not been able to log on to mumsnet...kept making me reset mr password. How's everyone managing today? Hope a little better. Glad you're still getting care icant. Don't let them discharge you until you're 100%!

Spandau you poor thing! As your gp won't help, get to a+e...oral medication won't help now. It needs to be sorted from the other end! I think you may have an impacted stool...wasn't it Kalidisa who had that problem Lucinda/Mop? I'm sure she had to treated in hospital.

Shoop sorry to hear you're regressing and heaven that's awful about meds! I don't understand gps!!

Ems you poor thing. Could the pain be from reflux? I remember towards the end it killing in my ribs from the acid reflux...the coke probably isn't helping if that's the case.

Had an okish day. A few voms but as I'm avoiding anything acid related it's not burning. Very bad indigestion and trapped wind pain so sat with my hot water bottle and sipping a cup of boiled hot water like its tea. I must admit I absolutely love the taste of boiled hot water. Find it soothing and its easing the trapped wind.

Hope everyone is coping ok today. Waves to Mother Hen, Mellee, Meerka, Ealli and mop. Apologies to anyone overlooked.

Heavenscent86 · 19/10/2015 20:29

Hi, thank you so much for the phone number Lucinda. I'm due to speak to my doctors again tomorrow and see what they suggest now. If no luck I'll definitely call that helpline as I'm very much doubting I will cope without the ondansetron.
Spandau I think if you are suffering that badly do as reebok says and get yourself to a&e.
Corabell I didn't take my cyclizine as it made me ill or at least didn't stop me being ill. Difficult to tell which it was but my hospital told me to space it out by 8 hours between each tablet.

Heavenscent86 · 19/10/2015 20:30

I don't understand gps and the meds system either reebok. Hope I can get it sorted. I'm terrified of being without them. I'm glad you are feeling a little better at the moment.

Ems10000 · 19/10/2015 20:43

reebok physio said its rib flare, I've been getting reflux on and off usually in the evening before going to sleep. At the risk of sounding very dramatic it feels like I have a broken rib - pain is constant now but doesn't seem linked to when baby moves. It's only on one side too. I had my gallbladder removed last year, the pain from that was awful. This is similar but on the opposite side. I feel like all I've done is moan for the last 8 months, I know there are people who would do anything to be in this position and that makes me feel so guilty. It's been like an endurance test the whole way through, I've had enough now! I feel like I will be skipping into the delivery suite!!

MadrigalElectromotive · 19/10/2015 20:57

Well I'm in hospital to be rehydrated. I saw the gp this afternoon, and my ketones were 3+ so he sent me to the hospital. Waiting for an anaesthetist to come and site my cannula because my veins are so shrunken due to the dehydration. Feel so thirsty but can't drink because I just bring it up again. I'm also hungry but same problem with food. At least I'm in the right place and hopefully they'll get the drip up soon.

Sorry for lack of personals and me me me post - I'm on my phone and can't check back.

Melleebacca · 19/10/2015 21:14

Madrigal - so glad you're at hospital getting fluids! My anxiety always dropped when I was at the hospital as I knew someone else was in charge of looking after me.

Reebok & MoP - it does sound like you're turning the corner with the introduction of good days. Hopefully that helps with the mental side of this condition.

Ems - the rib pain sounds awful! I have mid back pain in the evenings, which I attribute to my poor ribs being pushed out. Hubby massages it before I go to bed and overnight it lessens.

Pretty tired here, but surviving. Heartburn woke me up in the middle of the night which was so unenjoyable.

Hope everyone is coping, one day at a time!

MadrigalElectromotive · 20/10/2015 09:43

Glad that some of you are (hopefully!) starting to come out the other side.

My ketones are 2+ this morning, but I am still vomiting, so they are not sure that I will be going home today. I need more fluids and they are still trying me on different antiemetics.

I'm just pleased to be a bit less thirsty this morning - last night literally all I could think of was water!

lemonslemonslemons · 20/10/2015 10:09

Hi Corabell I am on Cyclizine and take it 3 times a day. I take it the minute I wake up (around 7am), then at 12pm and again at 5 or 6pm. HTH :)

LucindaE · 20/10/2015 10:54

Madrigal Sorry to hear you are in hospital, but the best place for you. One can get dehydrated quite quickly. Did things go downhill rapidly during the weekend? Glad you are not thirsty.
Shoop Welcome back, sorry to hear your meds reduction didn't work.
It may yet, later on. How many weeks did you say you were?
spandau and on Kalidasa and impacted stool; yes, it did happen to her, and they had to give her an enema in hospital. I so agree with others, spanda that probably the best thing to do is to go to A and E.
Heavenscent I hope you get those meds, EMS I hope 'rib flare' goes off, it sounds awful, and glad Cora has had some good advice on cyclizine dosage from lemons.
Reebok Glad you had another (relatively) good day. I hope MotherofPearl has too.Goodness, people with nasty but controllable pregnancy sickness would blanch at learning that a good day for some people on this thread is three vomits...
Waves to Melleebacca and everyone.

Reebok sorry today wasn't a good day again, hope Thursday's scan gives you another boost.

Lucinda im 17 (long) weeks. Had been feeling slightly better but alas. Back on ondansetron so hopefully can pick up again. Think im coming down with a virus too though as have a spot on my uvula.

Spandau glad you had a 'deliverance' but sorry you're still suffering so badly.

Gentle hugs and waves to everyone else too

TwoDrifters · 20/10/2015 19:40

Hi Corabell I was told to space my cyclizine by 8 hours so I take one at 7am as soon as I wake up, then another at 3pm & a final one at 11pm before bed. Hope that helps!

Corabell · 20/10/2015 19:53

Thanks for all the cyclizine advice. I did 6am, 2pm and will do before I go to sleep.

Has anyone else had their flu jabs? I was being sick when mine was booked for so couldn't go, no I've got a cold/throat infection am kicking myself and hoping it doesn't turn intto more. It's so hard to pick your battles as to what you can attend isn't it?
