I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

As predicted I've been throwing up acid for the past hour or so...a result of drinking coke. Not sure what I should do...continue to drink it to relieve the horrible nausea and deal with the after effects of acid reflux or avoid coke and feel sick all day but still throw up anyway. My chest and throat are on fire!!!

Thanks for the advice fresh. Flowers

Reebok · 19/09/2015 19:53

Sorry for the cross post MOP. I'm so sorry to hear how poorly you are. Is there no way you can be re admitted? Yes it sounds like you are in the same place I was last week. Sending you gentle hugs. Remember you have gotten through this before and you can do it again. It shall pass. In the mean time we are here. Flowers

thisisnow · 19/09/2015 20:45

Mop there is no such thing as self centred on this thread. Sorry you're having such an awful time of it. It's a shame the hospital can't put everyone on a permanent anti nausea drip I'm sure there would be many takers.

Reebok I don't know what's worse feeling sick or feeling so dehydrated. You really can't win.

Reebok · 19/09/2015 20:53

Completely agree about the permanent drip!! Ooh I would love one!

Thisisnow I think I'm going to have to carry on with the coke. I will be sick anyway with acid whether I drink it or not...it's just that today is slightly more painful. How are you feeling now?

I'm absolutely mental! Got oh to get me a cup of coke from nandos as its local with very little coke and mainly full of ice. I've also just sent him out again on the hunt for ice as our ice tray is broken. Told him not to come back home unless he brings me a bag of ice. I can't stop thinking about cubes of crunchy ice! It's all I want!

thisisnow · 19/09/2015 20:59

Yes ice cubes a must definitely I have stocked up.

Feeling okay managed to eat some noodles and apart from feeling sick they haven't resurfaced yet!

Here's to a better day tomorrow for everyone!

Reebok · 19/09/2015 21:06

Ah keeping fx for you that it stays down! Here's hoping for a better day.

Mop sending you extra gentle hugs and wishes for a better day tomorrow. You (and Lucinda) are always our rock. You got me through the last hg pregnancy, supported me when I mc in July and also helped me through the beginning of this one. Only hope to be able to do the same for you. You will get through this. We all will together. Flowers

MotherofPearl · 19/09/2015 21:20

Oh Reebok, your words are so kind I'm now crying a little. Dear me. Thanks so much, you are all a lifeline. DP is great but doesn't truly get it. I like your style Reebok, sending your OH out for coke and now ice. Totally agree with thisis, ice cubes are a must. I'm currently trying to sip lemon barley water crammed with ice, using a straw. I asked DP if I could try a nibble of food, and his suggestions were 1) cheese! Or 2) raisins! See what I mean about not really getting it?! Cheese??!! YUK.
Thanks also for your kind words thisis. I would love to be on permanent IV meds and fluids, only time I feel vaguely normal. This morning I managed to keep down 2 slices of lovely NHS toast, all I've kept down all day.
Hugs to all and wishing us all better days.

MotherofPearl · 19/09/2015 21:25

Here's an anecdote that will hopefully make some of you smile. I told my mother this week about being pregnant and was telling her how poorly I've been (she lives abroad so was via Skype). After a bit she says: "Well darling, I think pregnancy sickness is like seasickness: when it starts you think you're going to die. After a while you wish you would." Smile

shoopshoopsong · 19/09/2015 22:03

Oh MoP so sorry you're having a wretched time. Did they try you on different meds or just re juice you? Fingers crossed you get some relief soon. & your mum sounds brilliant!

chopsface · 19/09/2015 22:32

Sorry you've been so poorly mop Sad you can do this, its not forever x

Even though my sickness is over I still have issues with liquids, which is wierd! I cannot drink water without feeling nauseous! It's just too 'runny'! At my worst I could only stomach liquids with a bit of thickness, like juice. Then I moved on to fizzy drinks like Dr pepper and Pepsi (but not coke!), with most of the fizz removed! Now I can just about drink squash but only if sipped over long periods of time. I cannot down a glass of liquid no matter how thirsty I feel! Pregnancy is so darn weird!

MotherofPearl · 20/09/2015 08:44

Thanks Shoop, just got rejuiced. Still on same dose of Ondan although they suggested that I should take cyclizine as a boost in the afternoon, my worst time. Feeling a bit better this morning and have eaten a few teaspoons of apple puree. I find eating with a teaspoon from a tiny ramekin quite helpful for some reason.
Argh, Chops, I so agree with you about water, it's vile. All the talk of Coke on the thread recently has really made me fancy some. Am going to ask DP to get me some today.

Reebok · 20/09/2015 09:00

No worries MoP...every word was meant. Thanks for sharing the anecdote. It made me smile. It's very true that men don't understand. Oh keeps pushing me to go back to hospital but when I explain ketones are fine, he says don't you want want to get better? He doesn't get that hg will run its course when it's ready and not before then. Until then, there's no sudden cure! He's doing my head in! Think he's getting frustrated as dd is playing up and he doesn't know how to entertain her like I do. Hope everyone has a better day today.

Freshbreadandfaith · 20/09/2015 09:31

Sorry to read how vile you're feeling mop it's so horrible and cruel, hope you can get readmitted or different drugs or something, love to all, think of me tomorrow afternoon it's my scan and they are checking if baby is still alive and how bad the sack of fluid behind its head is, feeling anxious

MotherofPearl · 20/09/2015 09:36

Fresh, will be thinking of you tomorrow and really hoping that it's good news about the baby.

BarmeeMarmee · 20/09/2015 09:38

MoP what Reebok said is true-you are so supportive. Now it's our turn to return the favour.

Fresh will be thinking of you and keeping everything crossed.

Funny how things we would never normally have seen so appealing during HG isn't it? One of its "little quirks".

Wishing everyone an ok day today.

spandau1980 · 20/09/2015 10:07

Sorry everyone is still feeling like crap.
I did speak too soon about feeling bit better... sickn feeling sick can't tolerate fluids but so very thirsty.. got doc appointment tomorrow
:(
7 weeks +3 today
Wish it was 37 +3 :(

shoopshoopsong · 20/09/2015 10:19

MoP you were on cyclizine before weren't you? Worth a try again anyway. & I know what you mean about tiny spoon and ramekin, I think it just seems more manageable? Same with drinking through straw. Also a case of trying any crazy thing to help isn't?

Sorry to hear you're having a relapse spandau though we look forward to those good days they're cruel teases!
fresh have been and will definitely continue to be thinking of you tomorrow afternoon

Reebok · 20/09/2015 11:13

Think I'm going to mc again. I have really light brown marks on my underwear from discharge or something. I had a uti when my hg was diagnosed. Tried to take the antibiotics but a lot of them I threw up and my gp wasn't concerned when I told him. Think the uti didn't go and it's going to cause me to mc.

shoopshoopsong · 20/09/2015 11:26

Oh Reebok I'm so sorry. But normally I wouldn't be worried about slightly coloured discharge, is the early pregnancy unit open today for advice?

shoopshoopsong · 20/09/2015 11:28

Does it smell/itch?

Reebok · 20/09/2015 11:31

No only open weekdays so will have to call up tomorrow. No smell or itch. It's such a kick in the teeth! I had hg in my first pregnancy and I mc it. Hg means nothing. There's always a chance I will mc. If I mc again, I'm done. I can't keep going through this.

MotherofPearl · 20/09/2015 11:38

Oh dear Reebok, can you try A & E? Sounds worrying but as Shoop says, maybe not a problem? Keep us posted.

spandau1980 · 20/09/2015 11:38

Go a n e
Tell them about uti and the antibiotics
They may re test and keep u in to have iv antibiotics
I wouldn't sit at home worried I'd go in...
I had spotting with first preg and all went well in the end. About 13 weeks I think I was.
Is your OH around to take you in xxx

Freshbreadandfaith · 20/09/2015 11:40

Can you see someone Reebok? At least to check and put your mind at rest? I agree with mop A&E? Or Dr appt tomorrow?

shoopshoopsong · 20/09/2015 11:40

No smell or itch is a positive thing, so is that it is only slightly coloured.
If it is a mc it is the biggest kick in the teeth and especially seeing as you have been suffering so badly. However, at this stage I wouldn't assume it is. Keep an eye on if it changes and call out of hours doctor if so and they can refer you to give you an ultrasound. I'm not surprised you're done - it's fucking horrible. Try and sleep off the worrying today if you can. Thinking of you.
