I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Ah was hoping it might have been earlier. Last time the sickness started to reside by 16 weeks and came back on and off but never quite as bad. Really praying for an earlier end to it this time. I feel rotten all the time and miss my dd. Miss being able to cuddle her, tell her stories, play with her.

Sorry to hear you're still unwell but glad you're over the worst of it. Thank you for sharing.

shoopshoopsong · 18/09/2015 21:18

Reebok your daughter sounds so lovely! Bless her being so sweet. My DS is 17 months and just tries to peer into my sick bowl! Think he thinks I'm hiding something good in there haha.
We're finally back from our 'holiday' it has been great having DH around for a week to entertain DS though actually there were a few days they went out exploring and left me being sick in peace with a sea view which was nice. What the fuck am I going to do when he goes back to work on Monday? I've forgotten how to parent.

Freshbreadandfaith · 18/09/2015 21:41

Aww Reebok your dd sounds so cute! Mine is nearly 4 and she has been really affected by my sickness and when I'm lying down she feels my forehead and says "Oooh you feel warm shall I get you some medicine?" and is a cute little nurse checking up on me and telling me she is praying for me and the baby xx

thisisnow · 19/09/2015 09:38

Ahh Reebok your DD sounds adorable and very caring.
Lucinda hope your vision is better today
Freshbread your dd sounds so funny - must make you laugh at least
shoop the sea view sounds really relaxing!
I am 11 weeks today and I have to say I'm improving slightly. I'm still being sick but it's less painful and not blood involved like there was before!

Waves to everyone I have missed out!

Reebok · 19/09/2015 10:11

Thanks ladies. Fresh, your dd sounds so sweet! Shoop, glad you enjoyed your holiday. I completely understand what you mean about forgetting how to parent. I haven't been able to look after dd for weeks now and I don't think I remember how to.

Thisisnow, that's great news! Fx you will turn a corner very soon and be hg free. You're giving me hope.

I've resorted back to coke like I did in pregnancy with dd to calm the nausea. Only this time I've decided to only add little bits at a time to cold cold water so at least I'm getting a bit of water. Problem is I know my acid reflux will play up as a result but I need to do something. Oh was looking at me like I was mad drinking coke at 9am.

Anyone getting restless legs? Whenever I lay down on my left, my leg aches from the top of my butt to my toes. Makes it so hard to sleep.

eallison88 · 19/09/2015 11:17

reebok a nurse said to me fairly early that water isn't necessarily the bay thing cos it has no sugars in it thus not a great deal of energy etc. She recommended things like lemonade /lucozade and ideally fruit juice (long acting sugars as natural) over water. So I'd stick with your coke and supplement with fruit juice you can manage.

Reebok · 19/09/2015 11:23

Eali I can't keep down fruit juices, lemonade, diluted juices, lucozade, Ribena...only thing that works for me is coke.

eallison88 · 19/09/2015 12:56

What I was meaning is don't worry about only managing coke -it has sugars and more energy in than water. More likely to help your ketones that plain water. Sorry - trying to be encouraging not lecturey! I still can't drink squash, and that's all I've ever drunk!

shoopshoopsong · 19/09/2015 12:59

Reebok don't feel bad about drinking coke, at this stage you just need to do whatever works best for you and whatever you can keep down best. As eallison says, with the little you've been able to eat, your body will love the sugar!

Urgh, you know when you're sick in the toilet and it splashes back up at you? I have sick on my glasses. Gross

Meerka · 19/09/2015 13:17

reebok - are you on metoclopramide? the restless legs thing, that can be a side effect. If you are on metoclopramide, stop it now ( i thought you were on ondan. and cyclizine but may be mistaken)

shoop .. god the splashback. I used to vomit into a little bucket with a tiny bit of water at the bottom, not enough for splashback just enough to make it easier to clean

Reebok · 19/09/2015 13:40

Don't worry you don't sound lecturey at all. Have gotten oh to stock up the fridge with coke today. Only thing giving me a bit of energy. Enough energy to put a load of dds laundry on by myself! Success!

Shoop, I use a bowl instead like meerka. I hate splash back from the toilet and often find vomiting into a loo makes me feel sicker.

Meerka no I'm not on metaclopromide. Wondering if it's my sciatic pain playing up..have suffered with it since I was pregnant with dd.

9 weeks today. Still not heard from the hospital about my booking in appointment.

shoopshoopsong · 19/09/2015 14:03

I think RLS is quite common in pregnancy in general Reebok I got it later on with my last. Have you not had any contact with a midwife then? How long ago did you inform GP or hospital? I would hope to have heard by now. Though I only just relieved my maternity exemption card so at last don't have to pay for these millions of drugs.

I usually use a bowl or sick bags when I'm out but the toilet was nearer this time and was a harsh reminder to keep my bowl near!

elizabethsmum · 19/09/2015 15:56

Have had no end of trouble with phone and lost a long post - no time to retype now but will return later to check back in xxx

eallison88 · 19/09/2015 16:02

So I'm totally over feeling nauseated all the time, still having to watch what I eat, being worn out by doing simple things like a drainer full of washing up, not being able to get comfy, not sleeping for very long, practically weeing myself if I make it to the loo in time (vomiting has fecked my pelvic floor despite my best efforts) and my pelvis and butt hurting. I feel guilty moaning about this cos it's nothing to what I was and nothing to where you lovely ladies are now. But seriously, I'm over it. And this bloody baby is showing no signs whatsoever that is gonna make an appearance any time soon. 40 weeks on Monday. Potentially another two fecking weeks of this. Hubby is supportive in his own useless bloody way - having been brilliant throughout he's now driving me mad (which I'm sure is more me than him) - if he tries to initiate sex or foreplay one more time I'm sleeping in the cot (we have no spare bed anymore cos no room). All I want him to do at this stage is tidy up after himself, wipe the oven once in a while abs organise the things he keeps telling me he week sort!

eallison88 · 19/09/2015 16:03

...If i don't make it to the loo...

shoopshoopsong · 19/09/2015 16:07

eallison am don't feel guilty for saying how you feel. Well done for surviving to 40 weeks and very exciting it's a case of any day now and I'm not surprised you feel completely over it now! No offence though but at 40 weeks I don't think you should try and get on a cot Grin

thisisnow · 19/09/2015 17:44

Think I spoke too soon the poisonous feeling is back Sad my OH is getting a Chinese tonight I'm so jealous.

eallison hope you won't have to wait another 2 weeks. It sounds so frustrating.

reebok All I have drunk for the past few weeks is Coke every day. My colleague gave me a funny look the other day when I was drinking it at 9:30am at my desk! I think it's better than nothing at all.

Reebok · 19/09/2015 17:53

No contact at all with midwife yet Shoop. Usually gp refers you to hospital and then you get a letter to book in. But haven't received anything yet. I had my booking in appointment already by this stage with dd.

Eali, sorry to hear you're still feeling rough so late in the game. Feel free to rant away. The end of pregnancy is hard enough without feeling sick. fx baby won't keep you waiting too long.

Thisisnow, sorry you're feeling rough. Gentle hugs.

I was having an ok day....the coke really helped. Oh has been pushing me all day to eat and I even managed a few bites of real food. However for the past few hours I've just been holding it in and trying not to vomit. Feeling the sicky feeling again. Eurgh

eallison88 · 19/09/2015 17:58

thisisnow don't rule out Chinese take away completely - I had a couple of successful chineses when I was rough...I think it was a bit of chow mein and some startery stuff. Same with Indian! Don't hold me responsible if you try and its a disaster though!!!

eallison88 · 19/09/2015 17:58

Oh, and put the coke in a mug - they'll never know then!

shoopshoopsong · 19/09/2015 18:01

Reebok if I were you I'd chase up the GP that the letter definitely got sent because the sooner your booking in appt they arrange the scan and when you get that I think it makes it feel a bit more like you're pregnant not just have a wasting disease Smile

TwoDrifters · 19/09/2015 18:06

Coke has been a lifeline for me! I never usually touch the stuff but it's just so amazing right now - especially jam packed full of ice & a slice of lemon. Nectar of the gods. And then hopefully you get a bit of water from the melted ice…

I was feeling mega guilty about the caffeine content as I've not touched coffee since ttc & becoming pregnant, & only had about 3 cups of tea over my whole pregnancy thus far as a treat (I'm 25 weeks on Monday) but tbh now I don't care, coke is one of the few liquids I can keep down, so I'm going for it!

Still being sick lots but just trying to plough on through. Huge hugs to all of you coping with this nightmare Flowers

Ems10000 · 19/09/2015 18:44

ealli I hope you aren't waiting much longer. Gosh reading your post it was like I could have written it myself, I'm over it too but still got 8 weeks til due date. I finish work on Thursday so hopefully I can get some rest and might feel more human, I've lost the small amount of patience I had so probably for the best that I'm finishing sooner rather than later!! Grin

Freshbreadandfaith · 19/09/2015 19:41

Reebok I get restless legs and had it really bad in last pregnancy, I would go downstairs and do squats and stretches then go back to bed, I found exercising the legs helped, now I lie on side and lift top leg up and down as many times as poss then stretch leg flip over and do the same the other side. Tonic water before bed is supposed to help too, lemon tonic water tastes nicer, contains quinine which is supposed to help restless legs, hope that helps

MotherofPearl · 19/09/2015 19:49

Hello everyone. Sorry for silence; spent last night in hospital getting rehydrated and only discharged midday today. Got home and have gone back to bed and back to vomiting. I think I'm at the stage Reebok was at about a week ago, just feeling absolutely desperate and found myself begging DP for us to get a termination, something I never imagined wanting. He has sensibly talked me out of it and is being great about doing everything. I am just miserable.
Sorry for self-centred post, I know others are suffering too.
