I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Yes agree with others, if you are really worried A&E is the best thing

Reebok · 20/09/2015 11:46

No point going a&e as they won't be able to scan me. Will go doc tomorrow and ask for a referrel. If he can't help me will call epu directly and beg them to see me.

thisisnow · 20/09/2015 11:53

Hope you're okay Reebok you are really going through it at the moment.
A&E might make you feel 100x worse to be honest, agree the epu tomorrow seems like a good idea.

BarmeeMarmee · 20/09/2015 12:32

Oh Reebok I really hope it's nothing but it's automatic to assume the worst. Let us know how you are?

MotherofPearl · 20/09/2015 15:37

Whoever said coke with loads of ice and lemon is nectar of the gods is so right! Sipped through a straw especially! It's so bizarre, in normal life I hate all fizzy drinks. Bloody hope it stays down. My poor teeth..

Reebok · 20/09/2015 17:16

Thank you ladies. Trying my best not to worry. No spotting since this morning. Pregnancy symptoms are still here. Just had a fight with oh as I saw a film with a character eating fat chips with vinegar so I suddenly wanted to try it. And instead he bought me bloody skinny chips with no Vinegar. This resulted in me bawling and slamming the bedroom door on him. I'm all over the place today. Actually feel bad for him for once.

Mop glad the coke is helping.

Good luck for the scan fresh. Will be thinking of you.

TwoDrifters · 20/09/2015 18:51

MOP It was me! And I heartily concur about the straw too! I've been buying them in bulk for weeks now, so strange that they help but they do seem to. I think it's because if I open my mouth too wide my body just assumes "vomit mode" but with a straw you can just purse your lips so they barely open. That's my theory anyway! Smile

TwoDrifters · 20/09/2015 18:52

Oh and Reebok thinking of you and hope all goes well tomorrow Flowers

Ems10000 · 20/09/2015 21:32

reebok and fresh will be thinking of you both tomorrow. MoP your support has been so gratefully received by so many, hopefully we can all do the same for you! Found an old packet of shortbread biscuits today - they were another of my must haves in the early weeks!

Reebok · 20/09/2015 21:36

Thank you twodrifters and ems. In so much pain. As suspected the chips that oh did run out to get again came up with 5 minutes of me eating it. Since throwing that up, I've thrown up acid non stop and cannot eat anything else. It is killing me! Nothing is helping tonight. Not even my ice lollies. I want to cry!

Meerka · 20/09/2015 23:09

reebok - thinking of you. This is the very darkest time. Each day is awful, but they do pass, slowly, one by one. Do consider going to the doctors for a UTI test tomorrow still ..

moP sorry to hear you've been in hospital again, hope that it did help a bit. I think a lot of us have had very dark thoughts, sometimes often.

ems lovely to hear from you again

wishing everyone a quiet night and strength for tomorrow (and nice, helpful non-Braxton contractions for Ealli).

eallison88 · 21/09/2015 06:37

Still no sign. Clearly very comfy where it is. Had a very wakeful night, combination of nausea, pee ing and painful back. Every time I woke up without any sign of labour I could've cried. Hope everyone managed a good night's sleep

shoopshoopsong · 21/09/2015 08:02

Hope today goes well fresh and reebok that you are seen and given peace of mind (and hopefully some fluids)!
Hoping today is easier mop emotionally if not physically. For me that feels half the battle.

spandau1980 · 21/09/2015 10:45

Cyclizine not helping now everything ... back it comes been crying all morning

Reebok get your bum to docs xxx

Been given ondanstron but my pharmacist had 40 fits over me being given it
That's resulted in more tears ... do I don't I ?

Reebok · 21/09/2015 10:57

I'm at the epu waiting for a scan. Such a long queue. Feeling sick to my stomach and holding in the vom. Just want an answer either way. Will let you all know once I know. X

MotherofPearl · 21/09/2015 11:51

Reebok, fx for you.
BabyEalli, hurry up! My DS was 10 days late, and those 10 days of waiting nearly killed me! Hang in there Ealli, you're so close.
Thanks Shoop, Ems and Meerka for your kind words. I am feeling much the same (I.e. awful), but a bit less anxious as spoke to my GP this morning and she's signing me off for another fortnight. This is disastrous in many ways (I'm an academic and this is the start of semester), but nothing I can do, and no way I could do my commute, give a lecture etc. Feeling guilty and relieved.
Spandau, I think most people on this thread are on or have taken Ondansetron. It's by far the most successful drug for HG, even if not a cure-all. Do try it.

spandau1980 · 21/09/2015 12:00

Reebok.i have you in my prayers pls be all ok for you and your baby xxx

Thanks Mop
Can they be taken for prolonged time ?
Like I said pharmacist nearly died when I said I was taking for MS
Grrr wish ppl d be more supportive
If I could do it without I would but I've not had any food or fluids since yest at 6 pm rest all come up
Feel.so.weak
Xx

Penguinandminipenguin · 21/09/2015 12:14

Hi everyone :)
Doubt anyone remembers me, but just wanted to say dd was born on 12th August, weighing 8lbs 8oz...and the sickness has gone!! There is light at the end of the tunnel :) x

Meerka · 21/09/2015 12:19

spandau Yes, you take ondansetron.

If you have any doubts, ring the PSS number line above, leave a message and ask Dr Tony (very experienced in HG doc) to ring you back.

There was a massive study done 3 years ago and the overwhelming result of that study was that ondansetron is effectively safe. It's been used on tens, perhaps hundreds of thousands of women.

It's more safe than dehydration for sure.

A lot of health care professionals are very behind the times.

Meerka · 21/09/2015 12:20

penguin ... fantiastic news! hope you and mini are doing wonderfully ... isn't it great how the HG receeds into a horrible memory quite quickly when the baby is here !

Hang on in there everyone.

Reebok · 21/09/2015 12:26

Baby reebok is doing well so far! Saw my little bean floating around and a perfect heartbeat. I'm measuring behind what I thought but I guess I haven't had a period inbetween the mc and getting pregnant again. So looks like I'm 8 weeks something rather than 9. I've signed up to a study for women who have experienced mc. They will give me extra scans and support. So I'll have a scan inbetween my dating scan around 10 weeks. Thank you everyone for your prayers. Looks like it worked!

Spandau take it. It works miles better than cyclizine. I still throw up 3/4 times a day and feel nauseous but nowhere near as bad as before.

Mop know what you mean about worrying about being signed off. I teach and taught one day and for signed off. But I figure the kids won't learn anything from me in this state....your students won't gain anything when you feel rubbish so better to be off.

Feeling sick to my stomach. Home again. But at least I'm sick for a reason!

Reebok · 21/09/2015 12:27

Congrats penguin! Hope you and baby penguin are well. Enjoy being Hg free! X

thisisnow · 21/09/2015 13:21

Glad everything is okay Reebok, what a relief!

Congrats Penguin, how nice it must feel not to feel sick anymore and have a little mini person to go with it!

Freshbreadandfaith · 21/09/2015 14:23

In waiting room.........

Meerka · 21/09/2015 14:47

faith .... thinking of you today
