I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

DH just shouted at me that he can't do everything at once because I told him I can't cope. I know he can't but neither can I. Feel like crawling into a hole.

MouldyPeach · 13/09/2015 14:07

shoop I'm sorry your DH isn't being supportive. Is he usually like this or just stressed? Don't try to do anything yourself, it will just make you feel worse. You have to look after yourself and rest as much as you possibly can. I hope he understands eventually.

shoopshoopsong · 13/09/2015 14:14

He is supportive I think he's just knackered from doing extra. I get that, I know it's hard, but I don't know what to do. He is looking forward to going on holiday tomorrow and I'm just dreading it.

MouldyPeach · 13/09/2015 14:26

He's going to be knackered but he shouldn't be taking it out on you when you feel so rubbish anyway.
Do you have family around to help?
Couldn't imagine going on holiday whilst like this, it'd just be puking and lying down with different scenery, poor you :(

shoopshoopsong · 13/09/2015 15:24

Thanks Peach, my mum visits every week / 2 weeks and DH's mum lives locally and has been amazing looking after DS quite a lot - about 3 times a week at the moment. So at the moment I get 3 days of rest, I don't think DH realises though a holiday is rest as in not working... It's actually harder because actually being around him and DS is hard work at the moment. But there's no nice way of saying that is there? You're right it's just puking with different scenery which I thought I'd be ok with but now dreading but I know they won't go without me.

MouldyPeach · 13/09/2015 15:35

Glad you have other help around too.
Holidays are great when you're feeling yourself, I really hope your DH can understand this and helps you to get lots of rest.
Hyperemesis is an illness but sometimes I think it'd be easier to tell people it's long term food poisoning to get more empathy and support.

Reebok · 13/09/2015 15:37

Please help!!! Bad bad constipation!!! What do I do? I feel like I need to go and I try but no matter how hard I push it won't come out...like it gets stuck (sorry!) and goes back in. What do I do?

MotherofPearl · 13/09/2015 15:53

In hospital getting IV meds and rehydration. Ketones were +++. So glad to be here, was beginning to feel very peculiar at home.

MouldyPeach · 13/09/2015 16:26

reebok glycerin suppositories were my saving grace & you can get them from the pharmacy. I tried everything and they were the only thing that gave me relief.

Reebok · 13/09/2015 16:27

Mop sorry to hear that but glad you're in the right place.

Thanks peach. Do they hurt?

MouldyPeach · 13/09/2015 16:27

MoP glad you are getting meds and rehydration in hospital hope you feel much better for it.

MouldyPeach · 13/09/2015 16:29

reebok not at all, run warm water over them to make things easier. They're about 1cm in diameter so not big at all. Would definitely recommend!

Heavenscent86 · 13/09/2015 16:35

Reebok I haven't tried the glycerin suppositories but have heard they are very helpful. Particularly the liquid version if you can get it. Get yourself to the doctor also if you can and ask for lactulose or something similar. My doctor has put me on lactulose as I was suffering like you and it has softened things up enough for me to be able to go without being in such excruciating pain.

Heavenscent86 · 13/09/2015 16:37

MoP I'm glad you are getting help although what a shame that things got so bad so quickly. Hopefully they will put you on the ondansetron and you will get some relief.

Reebok · 13/09/2015 16:52

Thanks guys. Out of sheer desperation I tried dds raisins (I hate them!) as it always makes her go within half an hour of eating it. And it worked!!! Granted it was painful but I feel so much better now! Defo will get oh to get the suppositories though and looks like going to have to force myself to eat raisins daily. Sorry for the tmi!

shoopshoopsong · 13/09/2015 17:04

Glad the raisins worked reebok! Well done managing to eat them too ha!

Mop sorry you're in but hopefully it'll make such a difference. It definitely did for me last week

Reebok · 13/09/2015 17:21

Thanks Shoop. Raisins ended up being thrown up. Sad

MouldyPeach · 13/09/2015 17:52

Bleurgh I remember vomming raisins, they were all plump and partially rehydrated, grim.
At least they did their job first Reebok!

Heavenscent86 · 13/09/2015 18:25

I have eaten an apple. It was lovely. Odd. I normally don't like apples at all.

Reebok · 13/09/2015 18:40

Not managing to keep anything down since around 3. Feel awful. My stomach feels like it wants to eat but everything I try comes up again.

BarmeeMarmee · 13/09/2015 19:32

So sorry everyone is suffering so much at the moment. Hope you feel better with being rehydrated MoP. Reebok what are your ketones like? (I feel like mother hen!)

I'm sitting here quietly terrified-went to the toilet about an hour ago and found some red blood and a tiny clot in my pants (tmi sorry) waiting for DH to come down from putting the DC to bed so I can tell him and work out what, if anything, to do. There hasn't been any more since so not sure what to think.

shoopshoopsong · 13/09/2015 19:37

Is the blood bright red Barmee? I'd phone the ward just to check what they say

Heavenscent86 · 13/09/2015 19:45

when I had a bleed I went to the out of hours doctor. They couldn't do anything themselves but they booked me an early scan for two days after. I've had two scans now due to continued light bleeding. They were nice for reassurance. Just keeping my fingers crossed everything's ok af the 12 week one.

PegsPigs · 13/09/2015 19:48

I'm just dipping in as I was a regular on a previous HG thread but NC'd. Flowers to those of you suffering. Omeprazole was my wonder drug for acid and made the various random foods I could tolerate much easier to digest.

Hoping everyone gets through this time in whatever way they can.

BarmeeMarmee · 13/09/2015 19:50

Shoop yes it was red rather than brown. Clot was tiny... I've been told A&E or GP if anything happens pre 20 weeks and I'm only 14 now so that might not be a bad idea re the out of hours Dr Heaven. Will see what DH says. Hoping he won't be much longer!
