Do girls make you sicker than boys?

I had a great pregnancy with DS but was much more nauseous with DD. My friend wasn't sick with her DS and she's preg with #2 and doesn't feel sick. She really wants a girl and is thinking the fact she isn't sick means she's having another boy. Has anyone else had one of each but been equally as sick??

In my case definitely!!

mckenzie · 19/11/2006 20:04

not for me. great pregnancy with both, ie no sickness, and had one of each.

BettySpaghetti · 19/11/2006 20:06

I had nausea with DD but nausea and vomiting with DS

TinselgalacticWalrus · 19/11/2006 20:07

I was sick as a dog for 5 months with both pgs, and I had 2 boys.

If this is true, then dread to think how crap I'd feel if I had a girl!

lulumama · 19/11/2006 20:07

same as betty!! much less throwing up with DD than DS...sick with DS for 34 weeks ...only 21 weeks with DS and not every day either!

mind you each pregnancy is different.....

danceswithmonkeys · 19/11/2006 20:08

I was sicker with ds I think. Hard to remember now!

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 19/11/2006 20:10

I was sick with DS's but much worse with both dd's.

lou33 · 19/11/2006 20:12

MUCH worse with my girls than my boys

shhhh · 19/11/2006 20:19

With dd I was sick from 4 weeks till around 26 weeks and then felt it till the end....
This time I am expecting a boy and although I have felt sick at the beginning its currently now on and off and I'm now 29 weeks...BUT I haven't actually been sick. I think with me I was physically sick with a dd unlike with a ds. My friend is around 27 weeks and is expecting a girl and is as sick as can be...physically...

Friends who have had boys were nowhere near as sick as I was with dd as well....

I heard it was something to do with the oestrogen (sp) that is from us and dd's and its like an over load and that makes us sicker with dd's..???

lulumama · 19/11/2006 20:21

BUT - some women are never ever sick at all!

My SIL had a boy & a girl and never felt sick or threw up at all!

varies from woman to woman, pregnancy to pregnancy, tho it is good fun comparing!!

Mercy · 19/11/2006 20:23

With dd I had about 6 weeks of nausea.

With ds I had nearly 4 months of nausea (often lasting until mid-afternoon) and a bit of vomiting.

juuule · 19/11/2006 20:28

3 boys, 6 girls. No sickness. A bit queasy about wks 9-10 ish.

ProfYaffle · 19/11/2006 20:28

DD1 - some nausea in first 12 weeks but no vomiting

Currently pg, same again and I'm told I'm carrying a girl again.

Pinkchampagne · 19/11/2006 20:28

My mum had no sickness with her pregnancies & she had 2 girls. I had no sickness with either of my pregnancies & had 2 boys!

niceglasses · 19/11/2006 20:33

Awful constant gut wrenching sickenss with my 3rd - a girl till the day I gave birth. Okish, can handle it till 12-16 weeks ish with 2 boys. This fledgling and not yet confirmed as viable pg - low level hangover feeling.

mamijacacalys · 19/11/2006 20:49

Nope.

Have one of each and both pg's the same - never sick and generally healthy throughout both. Only slight symptoms at the beginning were the weird knackered feeling and the 'funny taste in mouth' thing.

Miaou · 19/11/2006 20:59

No correlation paddyclamp!

I have had two girls then a boy - each one, got progressively sicker - ie started earlier, more symptoms and lasted longer. Now pg with no. 4 - and it's started earlier still - don't know the sex of dc4.

Frenchsmallfry · 19/11/2006 21:16

No sickness at all with my first 2 pg'cys. They were identicle pg'cys in every way.

Sorry I had one of each. Am now 14 weeks pg with no.3 and have had terrible sickness and fatigue. Can't be anything to do with the sex of the baby for me.

Kif · 19/11/2006 21:35

Yup.

Dd 6 months of sickness; hospitalised twice; diagnosed hyperemisis.

Ds - 3 months moderate nausea - never threw up.

God bless boys.

iwouldloveadollypleaseSanta · 19/11/2006 21:46

had very little sickness when pg with girl

WestCountryLass · 19/11/2006 21:56

Not in my case, had 2DSs and DD and felt pretty good, a little bit nauseaus but nothing major. This pregnancy I have felt dog rough to be honest, but I don't know what gender baby is.

DebbsyandBibby · 19/11/2006 22:44

ive had tons of sickness and we are expecting a baby boy a week tomorrow.

paddyclamp · 19/11/2006 23:29

Thanks for all your replies! I'll make sure i tell my friend that there are lots of cases where there is no correlation between sickness and sex of baby!!

There's also the old wives tale about the way you carry isn't there? That wasn't true at all for me as i carried DS and DD exactly the same way!

IdrisTheDragon · 19/11/2006 23:32

I was equally sick with DS and DD.

My mum was convinced DS would be a girl as I was sick so much, but he was definitely a boy .

I carried in a similar way for both of them too.

jellybeans · 20/11/2006 09:36

True for me so far

girls: very sick, spots, greasy hair, the works
boys; felt great, clear skin, no sickness even tho it was twins
