Do girls make you sicker than boys?

I had a great pregnancy with DS but was much more nauseous with DD. My friend wasn't sick with her DS and she's preg with #2 and doesn't feel sick. She really wants a girl and is thinking the fact she isn't sick means she's having another boy. Has anyone else had one of each but been equally as sick??

i was very sick with dd and nothing at all with bothds

buktus · 20/11/2006 09:40

i carried different too with the boys i had a massive bum, hips, bump everything but with dd you couldnt tell i was pg from behind and bump was quite neat looking

Frenchsmallfry · 20/11/2006 13:23

Same for me paddyclamp. I have one of each, the pg'cys were exactly the same and I carried them identically.

Dear moms, I have a question about the baby's gender. I am pregnant the second time.
First time, we tried on 6th and 9th day of the cycle and we got a girl.
This time we tried on the 16th day of the cycle. I am wondering what are the chances that this one is a boy?? btw, my cycle is 28 days. Please share your experience about guessing the baby's gender..
thank you so much..

belgianmama · 20/11/2006 19:07

In my experience YES:
DS nausea from wk4-12 (literally day I turned 12 wks sicknes gone like magic) + nausea manageable by never letting stomach get empty
DD nausea from day I got preg til 16wks, not manageable by any tricks in the book + sickness came back until 24wks if v hungry or seeing disgusting things (e.g. mouldy food or any of the how clean is your house episodes!).

rainbowgirl · 20/11/2006 19:27

in my experience boys make you sicker than girls!

i was hardly sick with dd

i'm now 21+3 with a boy, and still have ms on and off tho it's much better than it was.

i blame it on the boy thing

but actually, i think morning sickness has more to do with the state your body is in when you get pregnant. i'd been drinking fairly heavily over past year before i got pg and think it was down to my liver, as this relates directly to ms.

milkthistle and ginger both good to strengthen the liver.

bubblepop · 20/11/2006 23:39

got 2 boys and 2 girls
i found that with the boys i only felt a little nauseous in the evenings.
but the girls WELL I WAS SICK ALL DAY AND NIGHT,it was terrible, i could'nt wait for the pregnancies to end.

Peridot30 · 21/11/2006 00:12

Hi with ds felt nauseous for first 12wks but with dd threw up every day all day. Slightest smell set me off. Boy pregnancy much easier for me.

pucca · 21/11/2006 00:36

DD = was very sick, and actually vomiting...terrible.

DS - just felt sick, was never actually sick.

So yes was correct for me

paddyclamp · 21/11/2006 10:56

Seems quite rare to have no nausea at all so maybe my friend is just one of those people whose hormones don't affect her! Even with DS i had some queasy moments especially if certain smells set me off. But with DD i felt sick most of the day every day.

It's weird isn't it, is there anyone else who had kids the same sex but sickness was different?

With DD I was sick until 16 weeks

With DS I felt sick/threw up for the whole pregnancy and continued to throw up for a whole week after he was born. I began to think I would never ever again have a day without sickness.

jingleboobs · 21/11/2006 11:16

with my dd i was never sick not once she s my only child

Sugarfree · 21/11/2006 11:24

Ds1-Nausea every day and vomitting every evening til 15 weeks.Very high bump.
Ds2-Nausea and vomitting every now and then til the end.Bump low.
Ds3-Nausea in the beginning, not much vomitting and then only in the morning.Heartburn til I cried.Awful taste in my mouth til the end.Lowish bump.

The only symptom I had in common with all three boys was window rattling snoring from the very start til the day I delivered.

womba1 · 21/11/2006 11:24

I have one of each and wasn't sick with either or even feel sick... juct lucky i guess!

Colinfirth · 21/11/2006 11:26

Much worse with girl for me...

3catstoo · 21/11/2006 13:21

I had DS first, with that pgnancy I was sick every evening without fail. We could go out for a mail and 20 mins into the main course I would have to run to the loo.

With both DDs I was nausious all day and sick at various times in the day but I generally kept my evening meal down.

I also suffer from migraines which make me sick. After the first 3 months of pgnancy with DS I had no migraines until the day after he was born.

With both DDs I had migraines all through the pgnancies.

Not sure if some of it was down to the fact that I was working when pg with DS and ate healthily all day, had a hot meal at lunch times but with the girls I ate poorly, too many biscuits etc.

Twiglett · 21/11/2006 13:22

Mine did

but he was bald and she was hairy which old people tell me is also a sickness inducing

interestingly she improved my libido whereas he killed it

HaggisSupper · 21/11/2006 13:26

I was really sick every day for the first 20 or so weeks of my pregnancy with DS.

With DD, I had a bit of nausea but nothing too bad.

3catstoo · 21/11/2006 13:43

I meant to say meal not mail .

Sexonlegs · 21/11/2006 14:30

I felt slightly nauseous with dd, but was never sick. Now pg again, and haven't been sick, but nausea was all day and lasted more weeks - great!! I don't think there is any hard and fast rule tbh.

3xamum · 21/11/2006 14:48

Have had 2 Boys & 1 girl and was sick sick sick right up to the actual labours with all 3. Ended up on anti sickness tablets with the last one, so don't think the sex of the baby had much to do with it to be honest.

loopybear · 21/11/2006 16:21

I had no sickness at all with DD

WTF · 21/11/2006 16:51

I had no sickness at all with DD - in fact I had no symptoms early on at all with DD.

ukrainianmum · 21/11/2006 19:16

First pregransy was so awfully sick when doctors were askilng me how many times per day do you vomit for an answer i was doing ut like every 15 mins.So they put me to hospital for like 4 months and than i had a miscarrige.
And 3 years after had a beatifull girl but same sickness came back so i spent practicly on my pregrancy in the hospital.

PennySweets · 21/11/2006 19:19

I was violently sick with my DD. I was also sick with my two Ds's, but DD was much worse. Also had furious heartburn with her too.
