Anyone newly pregnant and terrified of mc?

Just discovered I'm preggers! Very early - Im not even due on til Monday - so 4 weeks pg - but I've had 3 days of increasingly darker pink lines on first response. I kind of knew I was pregnant 2 weeks ago if yiu can believe it. Got that tiredness that you can't shake even by sleeping and nausea and diarreah bloatedness gas and sobbing reading the papers. I have one DS and I had all that with him but much much later. That's all stopped now and I just have mild af feelings. Not cramps just that lower abdominal mild ache. With DS I had implantation bleeding though and I havent this time which makes me worried that it hasn't burrowed in far enough and won't stick! Also convinced I got preg too easily again and it won't last. Everyone I speak to seems to have had either a mc or chemical preg. Convinced I will too. Am 39 too x

Hi. I'm 7 weeks pg with dc3. I thought I'd be really chilled out this time but I'm not- been stressing and googling statistics of miscarriage etc. I am my own worst enemy!!

I can't promise you everything will be ok- but statistically speaking it should be.

This is my third pregnancy and each have been different in the way of cramps and implantation bleeding so try not to compare and worry about that.

Oh brilliant! A kindred spirit! It's so stupid isn't it. I did all this worrying and googling last time. I just felt like it should have been harder to get pg and so the price I'll pay is to lose it. Crazy. Am not that irrational about anything else! Google becomes my drug of choice when pregnant it seems! Got blood test on Monday for hcg (only one this time!) and scan at 7 weeks booked. Then will take it from there! Best of luck with yours. I'll post my results and we can be panic buddies! ;-)

I'm 38 (nearly 39!) and pregnant for the 4th time after 3 miscarriages. I don't have any children yet.

But I had a scan today (my 2nd scan this pregnancy) and I'm 9+2 and little one was wriggling away and doing headstands.

Yes I might need to book an early scan to reassure myself. I've been on holiday so haven't seen a gp yet- my appointment is next week when I'll be 8 weeks so I hope it doesn't mean my 12 week scan will be delayed.

I'm happy to be panic buddies!! I can see other peoples worries are irrational- but my own irrational fears are all consuming!!

Hah! I'm the opposite: after three rounds of IVF I'm worried because I can't believe things will go better this time, despite the lovely BFPs. Because it's an IVF pregnancy I do get a scan after 6 weeks so that will (hopefully!) reassure me. I'm symptom checking and on knicker surveillance like a crazy thing in between long periods of being really happy. I think the happiness feels like hubris! Hard to switch from the IVF mindset (if we're lucky, there's a 20-30% chance this might work) to a pregnancy one (if were unlucky there's a 20-30% chance it won't...)

Warrior that site is very reassuring! I haven't had an early scan this time but still the statistics look good the further along.

I was an absolute wreck in the early weeks, my best friend had 3 mcs so although I have been very lucky to never have been through it I think I had her anxiety. It was a really horrible time, I was completely convinced things had gone wrong and even prepared how I would react to the bad news at my first scan! But all was fine and I am now 27 weeks, hope all will be good for you too and you can relax soon.

Wow congrats to all of you. Extra ones to those who've struggled to get upduffed. I'll be a little calmer if I get to the 12 weeks stage. I go to the Fetal Medicine Centre for scans and they are excellent and very reassuring. Will have to try and keep the scans to a normal number this time thiugh! Is everyone doing the harmony test? I loved the reassurance and so great to know the baby's sex. I'm so impatient I hate waiting for anything! X

Hi, I am terrified too, have had 2 miscarriages within past year, now 8 weeks pregnant, no DC yet. Already had a reassurance scan which showed heartbeat (yay!), but also showed delayed growth by 5 days which could mean nothing or could indicate a non-viable preg. Going for another scan next week to see if the baby is growing. Sooooo hoping it's a good news this time.

It's a Dna test for for chromosomal abnormalities - trisomy 13 18 and 21 and because it tests Dna it can also tell yiu the baby's gender if yiu want to know. I think it's going to be available on the NHS in a few years but for now it's only available privately. Yiu have it between 10 and 12 weeks and it's 99% accurate for downs and high eighties for the other two. Just a blood test. They then give you your odds based in this and the standard nuchal scan.

I'm 41, been ttc#1 for 18 months and found out yesterday did 3 tests just to make sure I am 4 weeks.

Naturally I have done all the wrong things; drinking, smoking, eating blue cheese etc

24 hours ago I had no idea I was pregnant and now I have become a clean living gal. Fags are in the bin and I almost sobbed when I realised that I wouldn't be able to get drunk at my hen do in 4 weeks or my wedding in 8 weeks.

I have got everything crossed that I have a successful pregnancy and all being well we'll meet our PFB in March!

Great to hear about all these BFP. I'm 41 and pregnant with my 4th child but I've had 2 mc along the way so this time I've been a complete paranoid knicker checker! I had the Harmony test last Mon so I've got my fx for the results. I would definitely recommend it for any older mums to be as I know my results with the nhs downs test will probably be high because of my age. Good luck to you all.

I'm not in early pregnancy any more (22 weeks) but I am a total and utter paranoid wreck still! I thought I would get better as time went on but apparently not ha. I had a bleed a week ago which hasn't helped matters and although heard baby heart beat since then I am not petrified. Normally she's very actuve but past couple of days haven't felt her move much so I'm panicking like mad again. Roll on full term and hopefully ten I can stop worrying so much!!

I had a private early scan which was fab and worth every penny. It was £99 and done at 7 weeks as that's the earliest you should see a heartbeat and don't need dildocam. I'm now nearly 29 weeks

Agree nicnic it's lovely hearing about all these 2015/6 babies! I love the phrase knicker surveillance warrior! I'm watching like a hawk too! caseopoia try not to worry. 5 days either way isn't much - you may just have slightly miscalculated your lmp? I did that. Or maybe you had a longer time til implantation. It's not an exact science. Keep us posted x

Congrats ladies! I am also newly preggers (4+1 today) and found out 2 days ago. I am 36, and, like you guys, terrified of miscarrying, having lost what would have been our 3rd child back in April (MMC at 9 weeks)

This time I am so much more aware of all the symptoms which seem to have kicked in way quicker than my earlier pregnancies. I am hating all the little twinges and crampy feelings which are probably just trapped wind but send me running off the toilet to check for dodgy discharge

What are you all doing about early scans? When do you think is a good time? Private or nhs, not that I am sure how I would go about getting the latter!

I'm still wavering over the early scan. I had an early scan with my 2dcs but with ds2 at 12 weeks we came back with a (relatively)high risk for abnormalities which caused a lot of anguish so I think personally I'll worry until I have the 12 week scan and hope all is ok then. Then (going by previous pregnancies) I'll move onto worrying about whether it's movements are reduced etc etc and basically just lurch from one worry to the next!!! I genuinely thought is be chilled out this time. Clearly had forgotten my own personality!!

Just wanted to say don't fork out for the Harmony Test if you are under Kings in London! They will do it for free if required after your 12 week scan and blood tests, and actually they will send your blood off for the test if you are medium risk as well so they can add to their research pool of results (which is what happened to me yesterday). I think it might be the same at UCH as it's also a research hospital.

I was constantly knicker checking until yesterday although I did take some comfort in the miscarriage statistics once I'd seen the heartbeat at 7 weeks and then again after our private 10 week scan. I am a bit more relaxed now which is better than my first pregnancy where I didn't tell most people until after the 20 week anomaly scan...

Me! I just found out I'm pregnant with what will be dc3, all being well. I had a chemical pregnancy/very early miscarriage back in May and I just feel like I'm waiting for something to go wrong. Hoping I can relax a bit as time goes on ....

Paranoid behaviour from me in the last 24 hours is as follows:

1. last night before bed I decided to do another pregnancy test (following the one I did last thurs morning which was my BFP at 13dpo). I was gutted it was as faint a line as the first one, I hoped for a stronger line which would have suggested the HCG was going up...
2. when I woke up at 3am I thought it would be a good idea to take my temp, it was a little lower than the few days before my BFP, but then it was 3am rather than 7am

It seems like I am doing stuff to try to validate this pregnancy but when I don't get the sign I want, I then stress and waste lots of time finding out the stuff I am looking at isn't even a reliable indicator of a viable pregnancy anyway. I feel like I am slowly going mad!!!
