Those of you who produced LARGE first babies...

...were your subsequent babies of similar size?

DS was 10lb 4oz. Now pregnant with second and mildly concerned about producing another whopper. Have already had my glucose tolerance test and I'm not even 12 weeks.

I know there's little I can do to avoid another big un, just interested as I've heard second / subsequent babies can be larger panics

My second was larger but only by a few ounces!

My 9lb lump was followed by premie twins who were both 7lb! If I had got to term i would have popped!

I'll tell you in October. DS was 10lb 14oz, with forceps. I'm having an elective section this time.

First DD was 9lb 4 at 40 weeks.
Second DD was 9lb at 38 weeks. (She was induced as I had gest diabetes and they thought she would be getting a bit big). Not up there with the ten pounders!

Mine were ELCS too. A good move, I feel.

Wow I thought I had big babies at 8lb 1oz, 8lb 11oz and a bump who's measuring 4 weeks ahead.

Oh wow, 10lb 14oz OldBlood?! That's just put me off having a third I think..

DS was 9lb 2oz and then DD was 10lb 8oz, I'm now scared to have a third (but DD is only 13 weeks)

My first weren't that big, 9lb babies with a few ounces in it for all three. Baby four was close to 11lb.

I had an EMCS after a traumatic induction and 72 hour labour, 48 of those were contractions one in three. HELL.

MW said I will see the birth choices team later and also have growth scans at 28 and 32 weeks. I'm debating whether I trust them to diagnose another whopper given the had no fucking idea that DS was big. The idea of an ELCS is tempting me.

DD1 was 10lb 10oz (42 weeks) - emcs.

DD2 was 9lb 7oz (39 weeks) - elcs. If she'd have gone to 42 weeks i'm pretty sure she would have been just as big or even a bit bigger than DD1.

Big babies are ace. Lovely sturdy squishy things!

xpost. I had growth scan which was one of the deciding factors in having an elcs. It was obvious DD2 was going to be v big. My preferred option would have been vbac but it was looking more and more likely that i'd end up with the same scenario as DD1 (back to back biggie and an emcs) that made me decide to go for an elective.

My first was 10lb3oz , vaginal delivery , I had an ELCS with the second who they estimated as big but turned out to be 7lb 14oz ,still glad I had the section though as it was a much better experience than the first .

DS was 9lbs 8 and very difficult birth but that's because he was in op position not because of his size. DD was 10lbs 7 and her birth was a piece of cake!

My first was 10 4 and my second was 10 5

First birth was hard. Second time round was easier.

apocalypse TOTALLY agree with the big baby love - they're just so cuddly and squashy! Those little fat rolls when they get bigger...

My first was 9lb2oz and my second was 7lb14.

They have different dads, and I have always wondered if that affected it. Eldest is tall for her age, youngest is small for her age. But they do look like each other.

Dd1 was 9 lb 1

Dd2 was 10 lb 10.

2 x HG pregnancies, no gest. Diabetes and measured bang on throughout both.

I think the evidence shows that unless you're a tiny person, the baby's size makes very little difference to the ease or otherwise of your labours. Not sure where I read that, though.

To add to the data, I had a 9lb9 in 12 hours textbook labour- and a 10lb 6 in about 4 hours from first twinge to baby. He was nearly a back seat of the car baby!

jiminy I measured spot on too. Bizarre. Makes you wonder what the frigging point of bump measuring is...

My first was 9lb (40 weeks) followed by 2 x 7lb twins at 38weeks. one of the twins gave me more issues that my first did at birth.

I am a bit nervous about impending DC4 being huge though! will be checked for G.D as I'm a bit chunky this time round!

I measured 43 weeks with DC1 and 48 weeks with DTs!

I know it's not an exact science but anecdotally I've only ever known people who have been told to expect a whopper give birth to 7 lb or less and the opposite.
