Today I parked in mother & child space

I am 8 weeks pregnant with severe morning sickness. I went to Tescos to do a quick shop as I am feeling so horrendous and now I am pregnant I parked in mother AAnd baby as it is closer to the door. I had just got out of the car when a woman about 65 came storming up to me shouting where is your child to which I replied in my tummy. She kept ranting at me and I explained my morning sickness is awful and I just wanted to get in and out. After more ranting I got a bit fed up and told her in future maybe she should mind her own business and think before she attack someone. She then told me to F off and she was going to report me. So she headed off to customer service and reported me, after she had left I went and asked them what was their policy. To which they said there wasn't one and they apologised to me for her behaviour. They were then worried as I felt so ill I nearly passed out. Has anyone had this before?? I am now feeling extremely Ill and Just want to cry.

Online shopping is useful or click and collect

I do usually online shop just wanted to nip in and get water and I'm on the verge of dehydration.

Sorry, but you shouldn't have parked in the space, surely parking a few more metres away from the shop wouldn't have killed you? When you have a small baby in a heavy car seat, plus pushchair, and possibly plus a toddler to get safely out of the car, you'll understand how much that extra space and proximity to the shop makes life easier.

Admittedly her reaction was over the top, but you were being pretty selfish, and I would've pointed it out to you as well (minus the ranting).

Well, technically you shouldn't have parked there but she sounded completely ott. I use p & c spaces purely for the extra room rater than the closeness to the store.

Sorry but there is no need for you to park in parent and child. There are spaces in the car park which are just as close if not sometimes closer. Parent and child spaces are larger to enable someone with a child in a car seat to have room to get said child in and out the car without hitting the car next to them etc. I had hyperemisis with first pregnancy, still managed to park in normal space when nipping in for my prescription for anti sickness and water. Of you feel like fainting etc then don't drive. Use your tap.

There were plenty of mother and baby spaces and hardly any normal spaces. Plus o already have a 2 and 4 yr old. I wouldn't have begrudged a very sick pregnant woman with Hg parking in those bays. Plus Tesco had no problem with me parking there and as I said apologised for her behaviour.

Were your 2 year old and 4 year old with you? Your sickness can't have been that bad if you were able to safely drive. You shouldn't have parked there.

I think you were fine to park there. As someone who suffered from bad all day sickness l wouldn't have left home! But if l did and someone told me to fuck off after l had bothered to explain myself they would have got a firm go fuck yourself back.

But there will be mothers on here who couldn't possibly remove Scarlett from monstrous sized family car without the m&c space

Rink you might drink from the tap but I'd prefer not the take my chances. And I had jus been to the doctors and drove past on my way home To get water. Do I nearly have to explain every detail lol jeez

I disagree!! For someone who has suffered from horrendous morning sickness well HG if there were spare spaces (tesco's usually have loads) sod it I would do the same bloody thing!

You weren't abusing it, you're not well and carrying a child! Also, it sounds like Tesco were understanding and even confirmed that there wasn't a policy against it!!

For people saying you could have parked a few meters away, if you feel that awful a few metres makes a huge difference! Also, if you're like me and don't have family or friends nearby to help out you still have to shop and buy good etc. Online shopping doesn't suit everyone, some have minimum spends etc or don't deliver to near you.

Also, people saying you shouldn't drive, sometime you have no choice and obviously if you felt too horrendous you wouldn't do it... But again with people's situations you have to continue with life even if you feel sick. I have to drive nearly two hours to my mothers house with HG so she can look after my little one when I'm really bad as she doesn't drive and isn't well her self. I have a bucket next to me and I have to constantly pull over to be sick. I get on with it because I have to.

For the lady that had a go at you, she can f&ck off and do one! People like that have nothing better to do in their sad lives.

Do not feel bad, you didn't do anything wrong unlike millions of other people who take advantage. Also, Tesco even confirmed that it was ok.

Thanks Stoned. If I wasn't pregnant and so ill I wouid have happily walked from much further. I'd never park there if I had no kids or if I was not pregnant. Ridiculous to think women who aren't pregnant can't park there.

Sometimes it's best not to post stuff like this on mumsnet and have a rant in real life.

Tesco staff were so lovely. They could see I wasnt well and got me a chair to sit and some water. Really kind x

Coney sometimes awareness is good. Ignorant people like the woman who approached me and some posters on here don't bother me. It's their problem not mine :)

The regulations governing tap water are considerably more stringent than those governing bottled water, so if you "didn't want to take the chance" you should have had a drink from the tap.

I'm sorry that you have bad morning sickness, but that's still not a reason to park in the parent and child space. The woman sounds like a cow, but if you're going to park in the parent and child space with no child you kind of have to expect that someone might complain.

tesco policy is fine with it so not sure why you would have a problem with it. Very odd
