Just wandering how many of you actually enjoyed being pregnant & blooming! I just felt like a beached whale & even though I didnt have any sickness or anything I didnt really enjoy it at all and its putting me off having another baby. Nine whole months of being boring! is it just me or do others feel the same?

I'm having loads of niggly aches and pains, i'm worried sick as i am at higher risk of prem labour, i was sick for 14 weeks - and yet on the whole it's great! it's like a whole new experience that you're sharing with your little bean.

JoolsToo · 11/11/2006 13:31

I did except at the very end

Never had a day of morning sickness and felt particularly full of beans with No 1.

Tutter · 11/11/2006 13:41

you see i said i loved it

but now, 24 hours after a bfp i remmeber how scary it is

tender tum + cramps = ooh bugger, is this the end of it already

mrspf · 11/11/2006 14:07

I am sure I loved it first time- the attention, the excitement of things to come, being offered seats and given special treatment at work and home. But got very lazy and fat (gained 4 st) but luckily didn't get stretch marks.

Second time round, feeling queasy, worried about another mc, but even so, still loving the anticipation of another baby.

Tutter - try not to worry. I had lots of cramps at first- just things stretching. with my mc, I was bleeding for hours before the cramps started.

I loved being PG with my 3 DS's but it's been a long hard slog this time.
It makes me feel sad that I feel like this because I thought I'd always love being PG.

I really cannot wait to not be PG anymore...having a newborn(and 3 older boys too) and being up half the night will be the easy bit compared to this.

northerner · 11/11/2006 14:37

I had an easy pregnancy, no sickess or backache, felt fine, but still hated it. My reason was purely down to vanity. Hated baing 'fat', swollen hands and ankles etc.

Didn't recognise myslef.

roisin · 11/11/2006 14:41

I loved it 1 and 2, but had a pretty miserable time third (and last) time around.

Elibean · 11/11/2006 14:52

I did, first time pretty much up until the last 2-3 weeks, but even then...after years of wanting to be, it was just so exciting. This time, felt horribly sick first 14 weeks and hated it - enjoyed the next 12 weeks or so, and now have had horrible pg itch since about 32 weeks.

At 36 weeks now, and wish I could really enjoy these last few days - its definitely my last pregnancy - but hey ho, can't wait for it to be over!

Flamesparrow · 11/11/2006 14:57

Hmmm... DD - hated. Was sick up until 36 weeks for a 44 week pregnancy. Was scared to death of doing it again.

DS - sussed that milk made me sick first time round, so was much better... but had a hyper 2 yr old to care for full time, so I was exhausted and couldn't enjoy it.

If I could have DS's pregnancy without any other children to care for, I'd love it!!!

LYNNETTE · 11/11/2006 15:05

First time around pregnancy was great. Second time not so great due to how big i got only when my baby was born did we realise why she weighed in at 10lb 4oz which is great, but i'm small framed at 5'1 so did'nt carry bump very well. Spent the last few weeks with a very numb belly due to size of bump. Also i was so tired having to run around after my 1.5 year old.

funkymumtobe · 13/11/2006 12:12

I'm 22 weeks pg now, first pg, and not enjoying it at all and I'm really disappointed because I thought I would. I've had really bad sickness and am still throwing up now, my skin looks so spotty like when I was a teenager and because of some complications with my blood I have to inject myself twice a day with clexane to avoid DVT (which really hurts!!!). My bump seems really big compared to others at the same stage and I just generally feel quite down and miserable - not myself at all. I think there is excitement in there somewhere but I'm not finding it easy, my poor husband is doing his best to help but feels pretty helpless...worried about depression as have suffered in the past. I really want to have more children but can't even comprehend wanting to go through this again...keep hoping things will suddenly start to get easier and I'll start to enjoy it!

munz · 13/11/2006 12:13

loved every mintue of it, had an easy PG totally straight forward, no sickness no nothing, jsut got fat! birth thou totally differnt story was horrid actually scared of doing it again - having the baby thou - fabby deffo worth the labour bit.

peacemakerukuk · 13/11/2006 15:13

Funkymumtobe, I'm on clexane too. Stings like blazes doesn't it

Teaandcake · 13/11/2006 22:12

Loving it! 23 weeks with my first and so far its been wonderful!

Waited a long time and suffered a m/c, so a little anxious until the 20 week scan.

No sickness at all, some tiredness between weeks 7-14 and the only discomfort now is heartburn on most days, nothing dreadful though.

Lolabelle · 14/11/2006 10:39

Loved the first, felt great and looked quite good if i may say so myself!! Second one however i have cultivated loads of celulite, spots, pallid facial colouring that not even fake tan and bronzer can help, i've gained stupid amounts of weight and had my hair cut in a bid to make myself feel better and now look ten times worse and am going to spend the rest of my pregnancy wearing a baseball cap.

I'm waiting to glow although i'm only 4 months gone so there is time but i'm going to need a miracle. And hair extensions.

MerlinsBeard · 14/11/2006 10:43

not read the whole thread

1st PG i LOVED, even the morning sickness coz it meant everything was going welli had no problems and a nice quick labour too although i hated that part

2nd i hated the pregnancy as it was PAINFUL but loved (yes, loved) the l;abour

lornaloo · 14/11/2006 10:44

I liked all the going for scans, buying baby things, going to midwife aps. Towards the end I got fed up and vowed I wouldnt do it again for another 5years. Its been 14months and im broody again.

Nemo1977 · 14/11/2006 10:45

1st pg was fab got treated like a godess by dh and work. Very easy and relaxing.
2nd pg nightmare..bad spd from 16wks and just completely uncomfortable plus spent first 12wks throwing up.

This pregnancy..quite surreal as if it wasnt for teh washing machine that is my baby then I dont feel pg at all!!!

KathyMCMLXXII · 14/11/2006 10:47

Hate it, hate it, hate it.
ANyone want to be a surrogate mum for my third?

xmasstocking · 14/11/2006 10:53

Absolutely loved it after the first trimester (that passed in a wave of constant nausea and exhaustion but did lose a stone ). After that, just loved the feeling of the baby moving inside me, eating what I want, putting my feet up whenever I felt like it, buying new clothes, buying baby stuff.... the list is endless. Although during the last 6 weeks, I seemed to have mw appts every other day as I had high BP, still loved it! I look back fondly to the 6 weeks I had at home after finishing work and before DS was born - 6 whole weeks of lunging around, watching daytime telly and eating chocolate - fantastic!! Realise any subsequent pg is not going to be the same but would happily act as a surrogate mother as I enjoyed being pg so much!

xmasstocking · 14/11/2006 10:54

Oh forgot to mention that my nails grew and grew and never broke - absolutely fantastic!!!

Bugsy2 · 14/11/2006 11:40

Really disliked it. Feel bad for saying that when I know there are women out there who would donate body organs to be pregnant, but I can't think of anything about being pregnant that I enjoyed.
Nausea, tiredness, expanding waistline, congested nose, everything smelling & tasting odd, stretch marks, sciatica, tiredness, low blood pressure, aching legs & feet, cramp in the middle of the night, tiredness, wanting to wee all the time, SPD and tiredness, tiredness & tiredness. Felt big, fat & clumsy too.

katierocket · 14/11/2006 11:42

Loved it first time.
Loving it now. NOT because I feel blooming and gorgeous, in fact the exact opposite. BUT after 2 years of trying and IVF, I am so so grateful and so happy to finally be pregnant. It puts things in perspective and certainly stops me moaning about it.

Daisypops · 14/11/2006 12:13

I didn't really enjoy the first 6 months as I worried about EVERYTHING, although I am truly grateful that I am pregnant. I had trouble conceiving with my ex, then had a m/c last year with my current DP, then bled at 10+3 with this pregnancy. So I was worried something would go wrong. I'm a massive worrier anyway but now I'm nearly 32 weeks, feeling lots of movement and am starting to enjoy it more.
