I don't recall having a birth plan last time but I was trying for a home birth. OH knew what I wanted so I trusted him to ensure it happened. Nothing really went to any plan anyway!

Littlelady33 · 09/06/2015 10:35

Thanks all I'll have a crack at a very basic birth plan or list of preferences this weekend (of course at this stage it's all the optimistic 'gas and air, pool, no pain relief' type stuff I'll happily give up if needs be). Broody hope appointment goes well today and that you're feeling better.

Boozle80 · 09/06/2015 11:18

I've just done my birth plan with the Midwife, ideally I wanted a home birth again but as I'm high risk the consultant is reluctant. The midwife suggested having the home birth team out to monitor me at home and then sending me to the birth centre attached to the labour ward at the last possible minute so I kind of get the best of both. This is NHS working at their best I reckon!

thesmallbear · 09/06/2015 11:44

Treacle - I've written my birth plan this morning. I'm happy to share (below). I've kept it quite simple (I think). As Little said, I see it more as my preferences than a plan, as you never know how these things are going to go. Obviously if there's a medical need for forceps or a c-section then that's what I'll do to get the baby out safely.

Birth preferences

I would like an active birth/water birth and will be using hypnobirthing techniques. I do not want to lie down on a bed. However, I am still open to considering an epidural if the pain gets too much (I understand that I will need to transfer from the MLU to the hospital if I decide I want an epidural). A mobile epidural is my preference in this situation.

I do not want pethidine as pain relief. However, I will consider if my labour has been very long and I need to sleep.

I would like skin-to-skin contact after the birth and cord clamping delayed for at least 2.5 minutes.

I would like the baby to have the vitamin K injection.

northdownmummy · 09/06/2015 11:48

I had a wee chuckle looking at the birth plan page in my notes. With my first I had very definate ideas. The only thing I'd wanted which happened was my DH telling me the sex.

This time it will be get baby put safely, have lots of blood on standby and IVs already on case in case I need them again. That said, I ended up using remiphentonal, which wasn't in my plan and it's such wonderful stuff I'll not hesitate this time info feel I need it

So I guess the next thing is to pack my hospital bag. Is it really necessary to wash all the baby grows etc when they are brand new? I wasn't going to bother, but hearing everyone else saying they are washing everything is making me feel like a bit of a bad mother for not seeing the point Hmm

Metalhead · 09/06/2015 12:04

ginger I hope everything goes well today.

cloud I also grew up in Germany! Sometimes I wish I was still there, I think the healthcare system is better than in the UK, even if it's more expensive.

I had my Harmony test this morning, which included another detailed ultrasound. Nasal bone was clearly visible and the nt measurement was only 1.4mm, so the sonographer basically said he's fairly optimistic that the blood results should come back clear. Hopefully I'll hear back by the end of next week.

thesmallbear · 09/06/2015 12:08

Sounds promising Metal. FX for you Flowers

Hi ladies, was hoping to join this thread? Not sure if I'm being a bit optimistic, but decided to wait last time until pregnancy was more established and then lost it before I could join. I only got a positive test on Sun which makes me 4wks (& 4 days!!) today. Somewhat apprehensive and trying not to get excited in any way given my history which is:
MC 6 wks 2010, Gorgeous DS now 4 born 2011, ruptured ectopic 6 wks July 2014, MC 6 wks Oct 2014, MC 9 wks Jan 2015. Under recurrent MC clinic this time and have no idea what that means other than a round of blood tests and an early scan, would be grateful for any advice on what to expect! Look forward to catching up on all your news when I read the thread in more detail later, best wishes to you all x

gingerbreadmam · 09/06/2015 12:40

all done everything went well. amnio was not at all what i had feared, was weird felt like an electric shock!

they said it went well and they dont expect anything to come up on the amnioit sounds like its just one of those things.

no other problems on the scan other than what we saw the other day so went as well as could have today and i feel very positive.

the dr is so sure its nothing she has already prepared letters to all the different consultants we will need once our son arrives so just need to get thursday out of the way and can start to move forward.

thank you for all your support over the past week it has been amazing Thanks

happygojo · 09/06/2015 12:58

Glad everything went well, when do you get the results? I really hope they are clear and am glad the doctors are so positive. Then you can get on with everything else. Take it easy xxxx

gingerbreadmam · 09/06/2015 13:04

thursday we will have the initial results about the trisomies then the rest take about 2 - 3 weeks but theyre not expecting anything to come back.

mrsdiddlydoo · 09/06/2015 13:22

Glad it went ok ginger. Well done for getting g through it.

Welcome baby! Sorry to hear your history. Fingers crossed this time. Have you had rmc testing already? Not sure what they can do test wise if you are already pregnant. Each new pregnancy is a new chance of success. It's difficult not feeling apprehensive after mc. If you are after advice about rmc testing might be worth dropping by the rmc thread ...

Glad it went well ginger, fingers crossed everything comes back fine. Well done for getting through it x

cloudjumper · 09/06/2015 14:36

Glad it all went smoothly, ginger Hope you can rest up now and that you're not too nervous about the results.

Same for you metal! It's another 2ww for you... Fingers crossed.

Welcome Ba8 - here's to a boring and uneventful pregnancy for you! So sorry for your losses. Are you on any medication for your rmcs at all? I've been given progesterone for the first trimester, but I know that treatments vary greatly. Apart from that, sadly, the early reassurance scan is pretty much all you get for rmc care, it's pretty basic. Things like anxiety and stress can be discussed with your midwife, mine made a note that this is something to keep an eye on during my pregnancy. Midwives can also be great allies when it comes to arranging early/extra scans.

Well, I've just had a call from the GP, and they will write me a prescription for the heparin, which will tie me over until I see the consultant again, phew! I should be able to pick it up directly from the pharmacy tomorrow. So much easier than having to traipse back to the hospital.

Hello all Flowers Sorry I've not kept up for a few days. Hope everyone is well. Ginger I'm glad your amnio went as ok as it could and fingers crossed for the results.

Has anyone else had fluctuating symptoms? My nausea has really eased off today and my boobs aren't as sore as they have been previously trying not to panic

Hope everyone is having a nice evening. I'm catching up on the sky planner whilst DH and my dad are down the pub Grin
