tori have you heard of the sleepyhead? have seen rave reviews of it on here and amazon for babies who dont like to go down. could be worth a look.

mrsdiddlydoo · 22/05/2015 15:05

Congratulations tori! It must feel so unreal but you deserve it. Grin Hope the midwife appointment went ok.

mrsdiddlydoo · 22/05/2015 15:07

Feeling rotten, full of cold with a temperature trying to avoid Dr google and freaking out. Dh has been looking after me. Nearly the BH weekend ladies! Hope you have something nice planned Smile

Metalhead · 22/05/2015 15:23

tori my DD was the same for the first few nights at home, but it did get better after a little while (not quite sure how long, my memory of those first few weeks is quite hazy...).

I'm full of cold too mrsdiddly tho thankfully no temp for me.

Treaclepie19 · 22/05/2015 15:42

Tori there's also the clevasleep positioner you could try or if it's being held he likes you could get a snugglebundl?
I'm not really qualified as I'll be a ftm when this baby comes but just things I've seen.
We've bought both actually :p

I remember that tori! We ended up Co sleeping so ds could feed on demand and I could sleep. He was 8lb but Guidelines might have changed now though.

Tori - I hope he settles in a couple of days. Maybe it will just take him a few days to get used to things. I'm no expert as I will be a FTM. Like Treacle I've bought the the snuggle bundle. Saw it demo'd at the Baby Show and thought it seemed really useful, so maybe worth looking into.

gingerbreadmam · 22/05/2015 18:04

not long now small how exciting!

broodylicious · 22/05/2015 19:09

Oh yes, I do vividly remember the first few nights with dd, tori. It is so stressful. We had a Moses basket and a mini crib (more like a very small cot) for dd but she preferred sleeping with either me or dh. So we co slept, which meant she fed and slept and I mostly slept. Two things that may be worth trying - which worked an absolute treat for my sister with her ds during the first few weeks while he was acclimatising to life outside the womb - was to line his basket with a pillow case you've used, so he can smell you (just slip the pillow case over the bottom sheet). Then also have classical or jazz fm playing quietly on a radio in your bedroom as it will provide some noise but not really stimulate him. My sister's mw gave her the latter tip, explaining that he had had all kinds of noises when he was in utero but now he was out, he was expected to go to sleep in silence. Kinda makes sense really, doesn't it?!

TeenieDeenie · 22/05/2015 19:40

Thank you for adding me to the stats smallbear. That's one long list Smile

Good news today, my GP agreed to refer me for an early scan around the 7 week mark so me and OH feeling a bit of relief. It's not too far away and feel like we've got something to aim for.

Treaclepie19 · 22/05/2015 19:40

Thanks smallbear :)

That where I saw it too, thought it looked useful :)

OP posts:
pizzakat · 22/05/2015 20:12

Caved and booked a private scan for next Friday, after a very upset day my OH called the MLU to ask if they knew when my scan was yet only to be told "Well im not gonna tell you that cause the clinic is closed so you'll have to call back on Tuesday" !!!

He has work on the Friday so I'm going to have to go alone which is absolutely terrifying, I think I've been trying not to get my hopes up so much I've now almost convinced myself it's gonna be bad news Sad

mrsdiddlydoo · 22/05/2015 20:57

We'll be in there with you pizza. I've had to do all my recent scans alone so understand what it feels like but you will be ok xx

pizzakat · 22/05/2015 23:28

Thank you diddly that makes me feel less alone x

OH ordered massive cake and ice cream delivery to cheer me up this evening, coincidentally started getting some stomach pains and he made me stop eating my amazing Oreo sundae in case the ice cream was causing it?! After telling me there's a 98% chance everything will be fine and to stop being negative today Hmm but I'm definitely the irrational one hahahha

Don't get between me and my ice cream yo

Treaclepie19 · 23/05/2015 00:03

Sending hugs pizza. It's such a worrying time, just do whatever you need to to make yourself feel better x

Thepurplegiraffe · 23/05/2015 07:04

Hi all
I haven't posted in the last few days due to everyone being ill and just generally struggling with everything but have been reading.
Congratulations to Mslad and Tori and all the positive scan results, some great news!
33 weeks today here and finding it all pretty hard now, I must have been this uncomfortable last time but I can't remember! 3 more weeks left at work, which is great except I'm not sure that looking after dd when I finish is going to be more restful...
Good luck to all those having reassurance scans, we had one at just over 9 weeks which was a long wait but worked really well as reassurance before the 12 week scan.

cloudjumper · 23/05/2015 09:14

Argh, I've had no sickness yesterday and today so far, and it's freaking me out! I was sick as a dog all week, why has it suddenly stopped?! Feeling very nervous and tense about this. It was a horrendous week at work, and I've been mega-stressed out, but normally, that would make the nausea worse... All the relief from last Sunday is gone Confused

Gumblossom · 23/05/2015 11:06

Oh no Cloud, sorry to hear you are worried. Are you about 9 weeks? I've heard it can fall away for some people at that stage. I know it is worrying. Hand-holding from afar. The first Trimester is a total headf*#k.

longestlurkerever · 23/05/2015 11:24

cloud I know this will be of limited comfort but it's honestly true that symptoms come and go. Mine eased right off at 9-10 weeks before coming back for a final hurrah around 11-12. Scroll back through the threads for proof of everyone going through similar stresses. I agree with gum it's a total headfuck. Hope you get some reassurance soon. X

Cloud I'm another one who had a huge decrease in nausea at 9/10 weeks and was fine. Totally appreciate how worrying it is. Hope your "12 week" scan is at the early end of things so you can see what's what.

Thanks for the stats list update - can't believe I'm number two! It's proof that time does pass though which is good!

Thinking of you pizza as you wait for the scan. Could a friend or family member go with you if your OH can't - or could he beg the time off? My DH'S work were surprisingly accommodating post miscarriage in enabling my DH to attend appointments - my DH suspects that one of his bosses might have had a mc in the past which might have helped them be more sympathetic.

Phryn · 23/05/2015 13:51

Oh and sunbathing so sorry your house has fallen though! So not what you need right now Sad .

Thepurplegiraffe · 23/05/2015 14:05

Sunbathing so sorry to hear about the house falling through, especially now. What are you going to do now? Wait for a while I guess...
