Thanks littlelady stepping away definitely!

tori, any update? Xx

treacle sooo exciting re the new car. What have you gone for? We hope to change my car in the next few weeks, can't wait!

Welcome newbies. We all understand your anxiety, you're in good company here so don't ever feel you can't type exactly what you feel, even if you think it sounds silly, selfish or just plain odd - chances are, we've all typed the same at some pointSmile We are all here for you xx

Gumblossom · 20/05/2015 22:13

Thanks so much for the warm welcome. It is really helpful to be with others who feel the same anxieties. This morning I woke at the usual time : 4am, and an hour later the boobs are already feeling a bit "pregnant", not so much tender, rather just sort of tingly, but not in a big way. It's enough to reassure me that it isn't over yet.

What's weird to me is that in the 2ww, my breast tenderness was unbearable, which kind of indicated to me that I was pregnant. However, since getting the bfp, they haven't been nearly as sore. Why would that be? It seems so odd.

And does anyone know why I wake up so ridiculously early every day? It's ludicrous. I have always been an early riser, but 4 am is just silly. As a result I am usually tucked up in bed, or asleep on the couch by 8:30pm. It has happened in previous pregnancies, it must have something to do with hormones, and I usually have a raging appetite when I get up to.

Yorkyil - sorry to hear the test wasn't as reassuring as you'd like, but I have heard the same thing - the more pregnant you get, the less likely a test will work. So that should be reassurance itself.

Phryn · 21/05/2015 06:55

Hi Gum - welcome to the thread.

Hormones are weird things - and they seem to be to blame responsible for most of the nuts stuff that happens in pregnancy. My boobs definately changed in soreness in the early days, but my nipples remained tender for most of the time (which led to me tweaking them for reassurance Wink )

The sleep thing seems to be very common to. First trimester I woke up early and often needed the loo in the middle of the night. I think all the worries and stress of early perfect after loss then made it even harder to go back to sleep.

Then as the baby grew and my uterus came up out of my pelvis this got much easier in the second trimester, I might wake up earlier but I didn't need the loo, and could roll over and go back to sleep.

Now in the 3rd trimester, feeling very big and with bad SPD rolling over at night is a major performance. I wake up and have to roll over at silly o'clock due to leg pain, then am wide awake at around 5am (apparently prolactin production surges in the early am - good for morning feeds, not so helpful right now!)

Don't know if that helps or not! Smile

Phryn · 21/05/2015 06:56

DYAC - early pregnancy NOT early perfect!

Treaclepie19 · 21/05/2015 09:03

Broody we've gone for the Vauxhall Mokka. Absolutely massive considering my current car is a Vauxhall Adam :p

Weighed myself this morning, I lost 8.5lb in the first trimester. Have now put 7.5lb back on and I'm 22+5. Seems to be speeding up now. Trying to make sure it's not what im eating as I was just on the cusp of obese when weighed at my booking appointment.

Morning ladies

Treacle The Mokka is my favourite car at the moment. Every time I see one I think, I would like one of them. Good choice! Smile

I left a urine sample at my GPs last night so just waiting on a call to confirm my pregnancy. Six home pregnancy tests don't lie but this is what they do lol. I will then hopefully get my booking-in date and beg for an early scan. Ovia has me at 4 weeks pg tomorrow however the clear blue digital came up as 2-3 weeks (so 4-5 weeks?) Dontcha just love irregular cycles after mc???

Strange atmosphere in the teenie household at the moment. My pregnancy is like the elephant in the room and OH hasn't even mentioned it once since I showed him the tests. I know he's just protecting himself emotionally but I feel sad we can't talk about it and be excited the way we were the first time round.

mrsdiddlydoo · 21/05/2015 09:57

teenie my dh practically ignores our current pregnancy. He's supporting me with the sickness and helping out a bit more when I nag him but he's been quite open about not wanting to think about it or get excited until it's safe to. We've agreed it's ok and he doesn't come to scans with me yet. I think we all just have to do whatever it takes to cope with our situations. I'd live to be excited. It makes me upset that I'm not yet, but hopefully with time it will come. Will your gp call back today?

So I've woken up with a horrific sore throat. I'd usually munch some paracetamol but I'm having second thoughts. It'll be ok if I take some won't it?

TeenieDeenie · 21/05/2015 10:12

It's upsetting isn't it mrsdiddly I think an early scan will help my OH though, whatever the outcome. You're also totally right about just doing what it takes to cope. I guess we will just have to take it day by day and FX all going well we might be able to relax a little bit in a few months time. Yes, the surgery should call me back today.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling great, I was reassured by my midwife that paracetamol was totally safe during pregnancy.

pizzakat · 21/05/2015 10:18

Sorry to hear you're not feeling great diddly I'm sure paracetamol is fine, just not allowed ibuprofen or anything else x

teenie my OH was devastated initially about the pregnancy as he was "the strong one" after our MMC, sounds just like your current situation but fast forward 6 weeks and he is now the one getting excited, talking about names (and much to my distaste TELLING PEOPLE I'm pregnant Angry ) while I still cant let those feelings surface until dating scan (and possibly still not after that)

pizzakat · 21/05/2015 10:20

Oops bashed post too early teenie

The turning point for my OH was definitely our scan at 9 weeks when we got some pictures and heard the heartbeat so maybe it will be similar for you? Hope he is still looking after you and being supportive in the mean time x

TeenieDeenie · 21/05/2015 10:31

Thanks pizzakat I hope it is similar. I feel he won't 'commit' to this pregnancy until he sees a scan that shows this pregnancy is different. We are going away this weekend so hopefully spending some quality time together he may open up a bit more.

happygojo · 21/05/2015 11:14

I think it is really normal for our OHs to take a while to 'accept' a pregnancy after an MC. My OH didn't appear happy, he was very matter of fact about it all. He didn't want anyone to know and was very cagey. The MC hit him sooo hard, in some ways harder than it hit me. Since the 12 week scan though he has been super excited! it's so sweet! and he is always asking how his favourite girls are.

longestlurkerever · 21/05/2015 11:16

Welcome newbies. We totally understand your anxiety. gum symptoms do come and go and change throughout - our bodies like to keep us on our toes. Glad you had some reassuring signs today.

tori has posted on my antenatal thread - she's had her lovely baby son! I am sure she'll be along soon to update us too - it sounded like the induction was a bit of a long drawn-out affair.

Another one here whose DH is not getting involved in the pregnancy - not emotionally anyway. I can't blame him, after all that's happened. He still helps where he can, especially now that I am feeling so rotten all the time, and I think that's as much as I can ask for. Actually, I wish I could be the same... Trying hard, but not entirely successful in detaching myself from it all (bit difficult if you have 24-hour nausea to remind you what's going on).

I was meant to have my booking appointment this morning, but the midwife made a proper mess of it all. Waited for 30 minutes after my allocated time, and no midwife ever turned up (while the receptionists were frantically making phone calls to find out what's going on). Turns out that he (looks as if I'll have a male midwife this time) is on annual leave, but that for some reason, no cover has been arranged. So I was sent away (with many many apologies from the staff) and am now waiting for a call to re-arrange. Apparently, they will do a home visit on Saturday, which suits me fine, but it's still annoying. I need to find out when my 12-week scan will be, as we will be on holiday when I'll be 12 weeks... Should be interesting... Anyone remember for how long you can have the Down's screening (bloods with nuchal measurement), is it up to 14 weeks?

Amyyy27 · 21/05/2015 13:52

Hi cloud yes it is up to 14 weeks.

My OH was another who really struggled at the start of this pregnancy until we had our 12 week scan, and he has totally changed! He's now talking baby names, nursery ideas and actually buying things although he won't look at any clothes yet just 'practical' things- ie in his head a nappy bin that was on offer... but we don't live in a flat... not necessary in my eyes but happy he is getting excited now :)

pizzakat · 21/05/2015 14:16

I don't know if anyone can advise as I'm sure it's different all over but how long do you generally wait between booking in and scan?

I had my booking in on Monday this week, and I'm 12 weeks today... Was hoping I'd get my letter with a scan date in the post today or tomorrow but now I'm trying to gauge if it's gonna be the week after next or even later?!

Amyyy27 · 21/05/2015 14:23

pizza I was in a similar position that they left it very late and I just kept calling the hospital! In the end they rang me back and booked it for a few days later when I was 13 weeks.

mrsdiddlydoo · 21/05/2015 14:28

pizza letters about scans usually arrive about a week later round here. I'd phone and chase them if you haven't heard by tomorrow.
