Firstly I know point of scan is to check safety of baby
My local hospital has just gone from £2 pic to baby TV receipt unit charging 2 for £10 or 4 for £18!! Given it a but of a thing offered in stunned at this increase
Combined with extortionate parking charges and travel to hospital it actually makes the private scan at £40 very good value- 4 photos, free parking, 30 minute session, and at time to suit/ evenings weekends etc
The staff were handing out complaint forms and encouraging comments yet were disgusted at the charge and the amount of people who couldn't have one now Hmm
I'm disappointed especially as the cash doesn't even go into the same unit or hospital
I can afford it but many can't, seems so wrong

Free. Got 4 photos in 12 week scan, 3 at 20 week. I had no idea some people have to pay!

Littlemonstersrule · 08/04/2015 13:14

About £4 each but was happy to pay for a few as its a luxury and the hospitals budget should be spent on care not parent momentos.

Jellytummys123 · 08/04/2015 13:14

I paid £10 for 2, the lady gave me 10 pics though as she didn't agree with the pricing!

Luciferbox · 08/04/2015 13:16

£3 for one but I've always had at least 5 pictures each time.

lightgreenglass · 08/04/2015 13:18

Supposed to be £1.50 at King's but the sonographers always give them to us for free.

D0nnaO · 08/04/2015 13:32

£4 each at Preston

katie2bumps · 08/04/2015 14:28

£0 in Glasgow! Have had two scans so far and given a picture of each baby each time! Had no idea there was a charge in other NHS trust areas.

magichandles · 08/04/2015 14:41

I never paid for any of our scan pictures, no one asked me for the money on the way in and the sonographers never mentioned it either.

This was at Kings, I did give a reasonably large donation to their helipad fund the last time I was in there though (managed to notice that poster!) so I don't feel too bad.

changingagain · 08/04/2015 15:08

£3 here. We have to buy a token from a machine in the waiting area and then give it to the sonographer.

However at both of my scan the sonographer refused to take the token. At the first it was because she initially thought there may be a problem (there wasn't, I was just a few weeks behind Smile ) but I was quite shaken by it. At the second the baby wasn't interested in posing so she couldn't get any good photos. Instead she gave us 4 that show parts of the baby.

idontknowmyusernameanymore · 08/04/2015 15:19

Ours are £10 EACH!!! Bloody ridiculous!

Becca83 · 08/04/2015 15:29

Free in Glasgow. There is a voluntary donation box though if you wish to use it. I was given three pics at my last scan. Dh dropped a couple of quid in the box.

Littlemissjt · 08/04/2015 15:29

Free. I'm also glasgow but as far as I know NHS scotland don't charge? I'd have happily made a donation but the prices some of you have been charged is shocking!

GeorgieWilson · 08/04/2015 15:36

Free. I've never paid or seen any donation boxes/notices. Was even given one free at a specialized unit at a different hospital. Can't believe it's £10 at some places!

Beesandbutterflies · 08/04/2015 15:52

£10 each HmmHmm

daimbar · 08/04/2015 15:56

£5 for one
£10 for three
£20 for 10

MelB2014 · 08/04/2015 16:14

£10 for one photo here!

Purpleboa · 08/04/2015 16:21

I live in Scotland and ours were free! Got multiple pics at 12, 16 and 20 week scan! I'm appalled that so many of you have had to pay! Is that just according to where you live?

Murphy29 · 08/04/2015 16:28

Free in Glasgow. I had at least 10 scans for successful pregnancy and got multiple pics each time, there wasn't even a donation box. Sad that some won't be able to get a pic with those charges.

HappilyMrsR · 08/04/2015 16:38

£6 each!!!

wheresmybiscuit · 08/04/2015 17:04

Free in North East Scotland. We were given 7 pictures at 12 week scan and 4 at 20 week scan. Wouldn't mind paying or making a donation but the prices some of you had to pay are just ridiculous. Not everyone can afford that.

MrsAnxiety1 · 08/04/2015 17:19

Ours were supposed to be £2 for a 'few' (basically as many as the sonographer could get/ would give us), however on the day we went, the machine was broken and so we got 5 free. Just as well as neither of us had change and they wouldn't accept notes :-/

I'm amazed that they charge for this! It is the only sign that a woman is even pregnant at that stage (morning sickness aside) and something that they'll cherish dearly should anything go wrong - as well as a way of bringing the father/family into the pregnancy. I find it a bit sad, really, as the materials can't cost that much.

miniHovis · 08/04/2015 17:28

Free here, got about 5 at 12 week scan as baby was a wee wriggle monster and got about 3 or 4 from 20 week scan and a face shot at growth scan when I was 35 ish weeks, some of those prices are extortionate

idontknowmyusernameanymore · 08/04/2015 17:32

Yes Beesandbutterflys just like MelB2014, £10 each.
