My period is due today and hasn't come, I had unprotected sex 11 days ago.. Is it too soon to do a pregnancy test? I bought one the other day and don't want to do it too early and get a false negative advice please shall I wait for it to be 2 weeks since I had sex?

If your period is due today and you are always really regular then you could do a test - you may get an ambiguous result though... Check the packet but I think Clearblue are fairly accurate on the first day of your missed period...

I would probably wait a day or so to either get a period, or a more accurate result on a test but it sounds like it is something that has been weighing on your mind so see if you can find an accurate enough test - at least that way you will have an idea one way or the other... Good luck and I hope everything turns out the way you want.

Okay yeah I was thinking to do it after the weekend I don't wanna get a false neg!

Hiya hippymama1, it has been weighing on my mind I would like to know now! I will wait for a couple of days and I have a clearblue test the digital one that says it can test 4 days before missed period but I think that's way too early to test so have left it I will test a couple of days and Thankyou, I will keep you all updated x

A sensitive test should pick up a positive on the day you are due on (I got a bfp 4 days before that).

The 2 week thing is a red herring here though - that refers to 2 weeks since you ovulated which typically ties in with the start of your period. So it is possible you had sex too late in your cycle to conceive (only one way to find out for sure though). Good luck for the result you want!

Riri17 · 03/04/2015 11:12

Okay Thankyou I might test tomorrow morning

I had a positive result 6 days before my period was due

Riri17 · 03/04/2015 11:21

Really? It depends on the test and on the person doesn't it really everyone's different

I did my clear blue digital test 6 days after my period was due.

MorgansMummy24 · 03/04/2015 11:26

Yes I had a strong feeling I was pregnant, had a rise in temperature and just 'felt' it and I was right lol

I did the clear blue the day my period was due, got a faint positive and then did the digital later that day and it confirmed it

Riri17 · 03/04/2015 12:28

Thanks everyone I will test in a couple of days to be sure but it is frustrating not knowing x

sianihedgehog · 03/04/2015 15:28

Yep, you can test from the day your period is due with sensitive tests. I got positive results on the day I was due.

Hellohellohowareyou · 03/04/2015 15:38

I got a positive result on a Tesco own brand 4/5 days before my period was due

Hellohellohowareyou · 03/04/2015 15:39

Was veeeeery faint line as you can see

Missed period!

Everyone is different tests its 99% accurate but 74% of women will get a positive pregancy test on day of expected period 93.5 % chance of Not being pregnant on a negative test and 6.5% of Being pregnant with a negative test all on day of expected period. But ovulation can be early or late in your cycle, implantation can take 6-12 days with 80% of women occurs at 10 days. So it all varies like someone else said its a guide that women ovulate around the 14th day you can ovulate just after your period hence you can have sex on your period and fall pregnant very low chance but the chance is there. If you ovulate very late in your cycle then the chances of you seeing a bfp before your expected period would low.

Then there are people like me who produce low hcg in urine so it's quite frustrating seeing bfn I'm 8 days past period but Im not sure when I ovulated or implanted plus with hcg wasn't high enough to detect till after 6+ weeks so a 2 week wait to period isn't long enough this is a nightmare uncertainty. Which I experienced all this in my last pregnancy but I believe this is rare as the chances of you being pregnant drop as above only 6.5% chance of still being pregnant after day of expected period so mine would be less than 1% now

Riri17 · 04/04/2015 15:44

Still no sign of my period so going to test either tomorrow or Monday will keep you updated x

Have you had any other symptoms? Felt odd? Anything? Brew

Riri17 · 04/04/2015 20:32

Yeah I do feel very odd, I'm emotional all the time, bloated I don't feel myself! I keep crying for no reason don't know if that's a sign but I'm not me

OP posts:
MorgansMummy24 · 04/04/2015 20:46

That can also be a sign of period so hard to tell

Riri17 · 04/04/2015 21:00

Yeah that's very true

OP posts:
MorgansMummy24 · 04/04/2015 21:02

Make sure you use first urine of the morning to test with as this will have highest levels of pregnancy hormone :)

Riri17 · 04/04/2015 21:06

Yeah I know I will Smile think it's best to leave it another day or so
