Congrats on successful scans! Yippee for a heartbeat, Metal.

Treacle, everyone has it right re movements. Do you know where your placenta is yet? It could be a great big ol' cushion between you and feeling movements, like mine was.

I have no brain today. I went into Sainsbury's to get a pack of BBQ chicken to put on a pizza tonight. Came out with some cherry tomatoes and only remembered about the chicken when I got home. Opened the fridge, to find we already have three punnets of cherry tomatoes because I keep forgetting we have them.

Metalhead · 23/04/2015 19:17

Thanks all, I'm feeling much more positive tonight.

Haha, your story made me laugh somesort! I guess you'll be having cherry tomato salad with your pizza tonight. Grin

Treacle I felt a first gentle movement around 20wks but it only started to be regular by 24, I think 18wks is really early for movements with your first so midwife told me. It just suddenly picks up I think from people I've spoken to. Now I get kicked all night and get no sleep and you can see him moving under my clothes in meetings! I couldn't wait to feel movement and now he never stops, it's just amazing.

Thepurplegiraffe · 23/04/2015 19:53

Treacle I was also worrying about movement at about your stage. Maybe it's just a few people that feel so much movement early on but it feels like everybody but you is. I remember feeling just like that.

Thanks for the update Smallbear!

Treaclepie19 · 23/04/2015 19:56

Thanks all, that's very reassuring.
You're right, it's because it seems like everyone else is feeling movement but me!

Thanks for the stats update smallbear :)

Evening ladies.

I got brave and bought myself a couple of pairs of maternity jeans. My usual ones are too tight now and the ones I had from my first pregnancy were massive when I tried them on.

I'm loving them! From a company is never hear of before called Funmum. Best of all they're stealth maternity jeans so I wore to work today.

Just wanted to share in case anyone else is shopping. I was really impressed with their customer service as well as prices

broodylicious · 24/04/2015 07:40

north, I've just come across that brand too but not bought anything so may well do now you've given them a thumbs upSmile thank youSmile

treacle, everyone has already said it but defo don't panic about movement yet. This is my second and I only started to feel a tiny amount of movement around 22 weeks. My mw said 24 weeks is generally when you'd expect to feel kicks and punches but not to expect a pattern until around 28 weeks. It's so hard not to worry when on these social media sites - I got myself into a tizz as all the girls on my an thread were having huge parties in their wombs long before me! - but just remember every baby, mummy and pregnancy is different Smilexxx

SomeSortOfDeliciousBiscuit · 24/04/2015 11:54

Also, don't forget that loads of people have phantom baby kicks when they know for a fact they AREN'T pregnant. I've had them when I've not been pregnant. It's wind!

If you've been pregnant before, it does feel exactly like a tiny little kick and it's freaky. I've been getting them during this pregnancy, but far too high up to where my womb is, so I know it's weird digestive stuff.

If you think about it, it's perfectly possible that all these women having early movements are actually feeling these phantom wind kicks, or at the very most, a combination of wind and movement.

Mslad · 24/04/2015 12:07

Good point somesort I felt like I was taking part in some weird gameshow 'wind or movement?' (said in the x-factor announcer voice) for weeks

cloudjumper · 24/04/2015 13:27

Hi all, I am just popping my head around the corner to wave a tentative hello and announce that I'm (also tentatively) joining you Smile

I've been on this thread so many times now, and I still recognise a number of the names on here, some from the TTC After MC threads (I've recently name-changed, used to be JBrd).

Found out I'm pg again last Sunday, so it's very early days... I've have 4 mcs, 3 early and 1 second trimester one - currently in total denial and sticking my head in the sand as much as I can. Managed to go to the GP and get my meds, but that's as far as I got so far.
My first milestone will be the 8-week scan, which should be in mid-May...

longestlurkerever · 24/04/2015 13:52

Hello cloud! Welcome back! Grin. Are you still under the care of an RMC? St Mary's would have scanned me at 6 weeks, but I was away. Mind you 8 weeks was a much better milestone in any case so if you can bear to wait till then that might be a plan.

Gr33dyeggs · 24/04/2015 16:38

Welcome cloud I hope its a long and uneventful stay here.

With my first I felt popping/ tickling sensations from 18 weeks.

Ladies.. I'm having a small panic. I was quite sore after the scan (wed) due to her having to do some serious prodding to get baby to behave and am getting some cramps now. I did move a lot of stuff around the loft yesterday and my thighs and bum are killing also. Is this vaguely normal or should I be worried I overdid it? !?!! Ironically I was looking for maternity clothes.

Treaclepie19 · 24/04/2015 17:03

I had the same thing gr33dy, she really had to push hard. I was sore for a few days then it went off.
I understand the worry though.

Gr33dy your ligaments will be loosening up due to all the hormones and it makes it very easy to strain something, but I wouldn't worry about it. Try a bath to soothe the aches.

treacle Even now I get stressed out about all the people saying they feel movements "all the time". Everyone is different and I actually felt movements earlier with dd than this time, even though people say you feel them earlier 2nd time round. And then when you do feel them there's a while before there's anything like a regular pattern so you start stressing about that, and then stressing some more when they seem to have a quiet day. It's neverending!

Littlelady33 · 24/04/2015 18:50

Gr33dy it's so easy to tire yourself out and hurt newly loosened ligaments when pregnant. Don't worry about it at all and take it as a sign to get some rest. Treacle it's hard not to worry isn't it? Even when movements start to be regular ish it's easy to worry if they seem to die down! But it's very early for you, the little one is only small and has plenty of corners to hide in!

Treaclepie19 · 24/04/2015 19:49

My scan isnt til 11th May, when ill be 21+3.
Not sure about my placenta, doesn't say on my notes yet.

Thanks all, I'm just a worry wart!
I've been feeling like ive got a uti again (but then I have most of this pregnancy) and so rushed to the doctors just before they shut (they had said it was ok to go in) to find out the doctor had just left me a prescription and said go back on Monday wth a sample if it's no better.

I'll take the antibiotics but I'm a bit annoyed as I may not even have an infection.
Do you think I'm doing the right thing?

Gr33dyeggs · 24/04/2015 20:28

UTI s can get nasty quickly so if you think it is one, I'd take them treacle.

I don't think it says on my notes where the placenta is either.

broodylicious · 24/04/2015 20:49

I think it was my 20 week scan when the position of the placenta was first mentioned. With dd, it was low lying but thankfully moved by 34 weeks.

Treaclepie19 · 25/04/2015 00:01

Yeah, I have had a lot it's just that during pregnancy I'm struggling to tell the difference as I nearly always feel like i have one.
I've started taking the tablets as I had really sore backache right in the one place which often happens.
I suppose it can't hurt baby so won't do any harm.
Thanks all, I'm going to try not to post with a worry tomorrow!!!
