Another thread for the lovely ladies who are pregnant after miscarriage :)

... Mw did also tell me to lay of coffee completely which I haven't heart from anyone else (I had given up until 20wks now having one weak latte per day). Not sure I can stick to that but got the sense it was more for my health (I'm always thirsty and have headaches) than the baby's. Would have loved to hear her say that the odd one would be fine, I know many think so. I don't miss booze at all but coffee is a whole other issue.

That's interesting little I had given up caffeine completely, but my midwife told me to drink a coffee a day to help get my bowel moving, when I questioned if she was sure it was alright, she just rolled her eyes and said not to worry. I imagine a weak latte is fine.

broodylicious · 11/04/2015 20:19

I remember you posting that mslad.... And so I tried it and whoop whoop for me, it completely works! I only have one coffee in the morning but it does it's job for my bowels. Predictable as anything.

Mslad · 11/04/2015 20:40

It's win win isn't it broody it does the trick and we get to have coffee. Now if only there was some medical reason why we should drink wine......Grin

Treaclepie19 · 11/04/2015 21:18

I must try this!!!

Thepurplegiraffe · 11/04/2015 22:22

What is it about coffee? I still can't face it, guessing tea won't work???

Littlelady33 · 11/04/2015 22:33

Purple I'm a bit funny about tea so haven't tried but since it's the stimulant that matters, caffeine, it should also work! Interestingly this particular midwife also said I shouldn't take paracetamol for my headaches (I haven't done, but my DH asked it if was ok since he thinks I'm being excessively careful). Other health professionals say paracetamol is ok so I'm guessing she was just uber cautious. Her training wouldn't have been in the UK and she might follow slightly tougher guidelines. Everyone I've seen so far said drink coffee, dye your hair, take paracetamol etc all in moderation!

Treaclepie19 · 11/04/2015 22:36

I've been drinking tea now and then and it hasn't worked.
Maybe just need more as there is less caffeine?

I don't think it is the caffeine Treacle, I think there is something different in the coffee that makes you go as decaf has the same effect.

littlelady it can be a nightmare all the different advice, I think a lot of them just have a guess if they don't know and sometimes the guesses are way off the mark.

For what it's worth my RMC specialist who also gave me a list of about 50 things I couldn't do where there had been any risk noted advised me the same as everyone else you have seen re drinking coffee within the guidelines, told me I was totally fine to get hair highlighted at hairdressers but if I was to have done it myself to make sure I used gloves and open all the windows and that paracetamol was completely safe!

Didn't buy the pram in the end as it was too busy but it's on for two weeks I've now found out but we did decide - again very easy due to being in London and me being tiny so are going for the icandy strawberry.

Littlelady33 · 12/04/2015 08:40

Cava I did quite like the i candy too - there are some quote nifty little ones for London out there. We might go for a babyzen as it seems super light too. I was in love with bugaboos but then found them fiddly, sure it was just me being stupid though! Can't believe I'm actually thinking about pram buying.

Treaclepie19 · 12/04/2015 09:02

I haven't been able to see the icandy in person anywhere, i think we're going for the mamas & papas armadillo flip xt.

OP posts:
Littlelady33 · 12/04/2015 11:01

Loved that one too treacle! Think the babyzen was a about a half kilo lighter but the armadillo feels sturdier and has better storage underneath. I absolutely loved the Stokke too but don't think they'd get through my front door let alone up the stairs. I'm insanely jealous of friends who have moved out of London and can push these enormous Victorian style prams without wondering how they'll get down the tube stairs! I love those big clunky old fashioned things for some reason.

Treaclepie19 · 12/04/2015 11:06

Same Littlelady!
If we had the money I'd be buying a Bebecar stylo or a Silver Cross Balmoral. Love love love them.

Sunbathing I've been told it's an essential but then I will walk most places and rarely drive. Maybe if you have a car you'd be mostly using it's something you can wait and see if you need?

Metalhead · 12/04/2015 12:41

There is no way I would have survived without a pram sun, but I guess some people do. I just didn't want to carry DD everywhere I went, as even tiny babies get surprisingly heavy after a while, and I've got a bad back anyway. But no harm in waiting until after the birth if you know where to get a pram at short notice should you need it.

Agree with metal I think sun you could always see how you feel and get one pretty quickly from somewhere if you've found a preference / supplier. Our flat is so challenged on the storage front I love keeping things in our car. It's basically a wine cellar / home to dh's golf clubs! Smile

broodylicious · 12/04/2015 13:19

Mmmm tricky one sunbathing. Dd did not like the pram at all and spent most of her time in there crying so we bought a Close Caboo stretchy wrap/sling and carried her. metal is absolutely right though that even small babies can feel like a lead weight! With all you've got on at the mo, I'd be tempted to just leave it until baby has arrived and see how you get on. The shops and internet certainly won't run out of stock before June and most will do next day delivery so I think you're being sensible not to get railroaded into spending money right now.

The pushchair we had for dd (quinny buzz) can have a newborn insert so baby would lie flat in it but I've not come across many good reviews so a couple of weeks ago, I bought a jané pro slalom from eBay - it comes with a lie flat car seat which clicks on to the chassis to make a pram. We shan't use it as a car seat, just as a pram and then use the pushchair bit when baby is older. Can't wait to use it, it's so sexy! Lol!

cherrylola · 12/04/2015 14:25

Sunbathing- can you carry your shopping, nappy bag and sling baby all at once? That's the question you need to answer to gunfire out if you need a pram Wink
Also, what happens when baby falls asleep in the car just before you arrive somewhere? Will you be prepared to wait for them to finish their nap always or will you want to be able to pop their car seat on wheels and go about your business while they stay sleeping?
These are the main reasons a pram was occasionally essential for me when I had my son. I'm an almost full time baby wearer!

I'm still struggling, still convinced it'll be another MC for me but need to wait to get a doc appointment tomorrow and get checked in with midwives Hmm

envious, we are torn between the ergo 360 and the Tula. In our ignorance last time, we used a baby Bjorn when dd was a few months old Blush so although we'll still use the close caboo, we need something we can use from about three months.
