Another thread for the lovely ladies who are pregnant after miscarriage :)

OP posts:
SuzyBean · 08/04/2015 18:08

stickchild no fixed plans of how I want this labour to go. I have a 5 yr old and his was a back to back fast labour 3cm to 10cm dilated in an hour and then he got stuck and had to be ejected by forceps so I know that anything could happen! I'm signed off for the birth centre and hoping for a water birth this time though (although have also been told by the midwife to also be prepared for a home birth as this delivery might be even quicker than last time!). I should write up a birth plan but as I've said it still hasn't sunk in that it is going to happen soon.

Please don't worry about age, I'm 39 and it hasn't once been mentioned by the midwives, I think it's seen as pretty normal now. At my last appointment the mw even asked if I was planning anymore!

thesmallbear · 08/04/2015 18:21

Oh my days. My nausea has been returning over the last few days, with today being the worst day. Don't get me wrong it's nowhere near as bad as the first trimester, but yuck! What causes nausea so late on? I mean my placenta must be fully functioning by now. I'm 28 weeks tomorrow. Gah!

StickChildNumberTwo · 08/04/2015 18:44

Hope you get your water birth Suzy - I managed an hour in the water last time before being evicted due to I can't remember what and it was bliss. I too had a back to back forceps delivery, but the opposite in terms of time - she took forever about it! Hope all goes well.

fififolle · 08/04/2015 18:45

thesmallbear I'm in the same camp as stick. I have my private scan next week.
I'm doing well thank you purple the spotting stopped yesterday. I've been continuing with my acupuncture but have asked her not to do anything about the nausea as I find it reassuring!
It's interesting to see how many ladies posting here have a similar age gap between DCs. I'm really looking forward to being able to give #2 individual attention whilst DS is in school.

Metalhead · 08/04/2015 19:52

My DD is nearly 5 too. I'm hoping me and baby will be able to nap during the day while she's at school! Grin

Littlelady33 · 08/04/2015 21:14

Thanks broody it is so worrying but I must put down the orange juice in order to get him awake poor thing. Small being sick again later ok really is a pain is it anything to do with growing uterus and pressure on stomach? I think I read that somewhere!

TheBiscuitStrikesBack · 09/04/2015 06:15

Tentative step in. After a shock IC BFP yesterday, a digi this morning has confirmed it...eek.

I MC on the 14/2, and am terrified!

cavamonster · 09/04/2015 08:04

Lovely seeing so many thread babies, it really does give hope to us all.

Been a bit absent of late as been very busy in work, which has actually been quite good as feel things are starting to go at a speedier pace now rather than the drag of the first few months. I did end up giving in and bought a doppler despite having many reservations. The fear at first is horrible but I have since found the baby's hb and have started to relax a little and only say "if baby comes" rather than "when" 50% of the time now!

Got my 20 week scan next Friday and all being well I think I'll join the stats then. Trying to book a last holiday the two of us but early May is a rubbish time to try and find heat without travelling too far!!

Doing a quick skim back and wondered broody why your nct group made you feel crap? That doesn't sound like a nice group.

SuzyBean · 09/04/2015 08:19

Wow top of the stats list. I will definitely write my birth plan today!!

Thank you all. I'm still in a state of shock.

It is fab seeing all the thread babies up there on the stats. I'm not going to put mine up for a couple of months (fingers legs crossed) x

TheBiscuitStrikesBack · 09/04/2015 09:31

Sorry about the x.... Just in that kind of place today Grin

CommanderShepard · 09/04/2015 10:25

Congratulations biscuit! And don't worry - anything goes in this thread.

Lovely to see you cava - I know what you mean about it starting to go a bit quicker. The first trimester always feels like 40 weeks on its own. I haven't bought a doppler but I've ordered a blood pressure monitor as I'm really starting to freak out about that.

fifi I'm so pleased the spotting's stopped - it does seem to be very common to spot around the time you'd normally have a period, and I guess that's partly how some women don't know they're pregnant until they're giving birth Shock

Had a horrible couple of nightmares last night about miscarrying so feeling a bit wibbly today. Silly, because I can feel Erwin shuffling about in there, but it's really put the wind up me. On the bright side, research scan tomorrow! Hurray! Hoping to find out if it's Erwin or Erwina as DD is insistent she's getting a sister...

Littlelady33 · 09/04/2015 10:59

Commander my nightmares are horrendous and so vivid - I think I'm a pretty sensible person but they can put me into a really weird mood all day!

Adventuregame · 09/04/2015 16:28

I just want to post so I'm 'on this thread' if that's ok.

I had a mc (ERPC) last week and very frightened about the thougt of trying again so thought reading a few positive stories might help me.

Sorry, don't want to remind anyone of sadder times and wish you all well - I shall just hover and watch from a distance and hope that my next post will be due to a BFP !!!!

Thank you

DaddysGoneAHunting · 09/04/2015 16:30

Message for phryn, sorry to be a stalker! I lost track of mn for a while and I hadn't realised you got a bfp. Ive just realised we are due really close together (a few days in it). I really hope things are going well for you. Ive had a bit of a rough ride with health and family circumstances but we are coming through that now and on the homeward straight. Just wanted to wish you well in the remainder of your pregnancy. Smile

Thanks Tori I'll have a look for it - there are so many you can get lost in knowing what to look for !

CommanderShepard · 09/04/2015 16:48

Hi adventure - I'm so sorry for your loss. It's a horrible, lonely time so if our stories can help you that's fantastic. There are some lovely supportive threads on Mumsnet; they really got me through.

Trying again is really scary - from my perspective, I got lucky because we weren't actually intending to try again until I'd had a period, but Christmas cheer brought us a rather unexpected surprise! And I have to be honest - on one hand I was really pleased and on the other I was horrified because it felt a bit soon. The first trimester dragged, and dragged, and dragged, and it was terrifying because I felt like I was just waiting for everything to go wrong again. But I'm almost 18 weeks now and I'm starting to feel movement.

I think we'd all agree that being pregnant after any form of loss is very different to having sailed through before (or it being your first pregnancy) - on this series of threads are pages and pages of us getting upset about what I'm sure other people see as the most trivial worries but when you've been where we all have, it seems entirely logical and it can be a bit hurtful when others look askance at you and scans only reassure you for a short time. This is why this thread is a lovely place to hide in when you're feeling vulnerable. There's a common thread of anxiety in here, and I don't know whether that's circumstantial or anxious ladies are drawn here, but we all understand it. I certainly have an anxiety disorder and I feel like as I begin to relax a bit into the pregnancy my worries about getting pre-eclampsia again and birth trauma are starting to resurface (I have PTSD from DD's birth which is normally well under control but is being a bit noisy at present). I think that's just who I am.

So yes, feel free to lurk and post whenever you need to and I really, really hope you're on here with your own BFP before long Flowers

Littlelady33 · 09/04/2015 16:50

Adventure sorry for your loss and hope to see you here soon with your BFP, we all know what a throughly shitty time it is and hope you're taking care of yourself.
I'd also suggest you find the ttc after mc thread sorry I'm on a phone or would post you a link - lots of us 'graduated' from there and it's a great source of support.

Hi adventure so sorry to hear of your loss. I really look forward to seeing you on here with your bfp. I think all the ladies going through pregnancy after an mc are very brave. It's so hard, especially the endless first trimester. this thread has been a great source of support and a place to vent all our fears. commander lovely post!

Third trimester is dragging here.......
