So heres a thread. Hope you all find it!

Congrats we've made it this far Wine

My worry at 5 weeks is I just feel apathetic and numb. Not excited, not looking forward. Not even fear. Just.... nothing. Constant knicker watch.

Plus wondering whether to push for an early scan and if so when? Losses were 9 and 11 weeks.

yes it sounds nice doesnt it? i am at 8 weeks now and tbh the scan doesnt seem so long away now (not that i have a date or anything) but time does move quite quickly and you will be there soon.

chasingtherainbow · 09/03/2015 12:48

Oh amy, ???? sounds like she had a bit of attitude about her. When I was preg with dd I visited my gp the day of my pos test (ha!) And he gave me my pack and my EDD.

I had my booking in app at 8 weeks after an early scan at 6 weeks. I had an nhs scan at 10 weeks as I was worried and didn't take dh with me... thinking I'd get another at 12. They refused.. so just be wary to book any extra scans privately. Next one was 20 wks with dh.

Anyways. I'm going to call mw not next Monday, the Monday after. But only because I'm trying to manipulate the system to get my early scan late enough that I know I'll see a hb!

chasingtherainbow · 09/03/2015 12:49

I am fucking exhausted. Just had to add that.

Gr33dyeggs · 09/03/2015 13:03

I've been told to book in asap last time and this. So going friday when I'll be 6+2. Also at drs tonight to see her recommendations for early scan or not. I'd rather wait til 11/ 12 if I only get one. But then the stress of waiting will be tough. Will update later.
I've had a few nauseous moments today. Solved by eating..... and I've been told I look tired. Fab.

Sorry just to be clear. .I didn't get 12 wk scan because everything was seen v clearly at 10. One at say 8.. I think would require another at 12.

Amyyy27 · 09/03/2015 13:12

Oh chasing I remember you saying about holding off the scan so that's understandable. Aww I know my friend had a scan at 10weeks and they wouldn't give her a 12 week one.. I would be very annoyed! But I can sort of understand if they have already dated the pregnancy. I think 8 weeks is still early enough to get a 12 week scan though so should be ok there. I'm exhausted too! How can a baby take so much energy this early?!

gennibugs · 09/03/2015 13:22

interesting chat re scan ladies! Saw my gp this morning and he has requested an early scan for me as this was first cycle post mc so not 100% sure how far along I am well I am as I temp so know when I ov but he was sceptical. I didn't realise this would mean I might not get a 12 week scan? Oh dear! I was planning a private scan anyway but maybe ill wait to see when my nhs scan is and work around that to see when a private scan might help reassure me. Oh dear!

He told me that the midwifery team would contact me at 11 weeks for booking and I couldn't see them before which upset me a little as I've so many questions etc that I wanted to talk through with someone. 11 weeks seems like ages away.

Amyyy27 · 09/03/2015 13:26

genni don't worry it has to be about 10 weeks (I am almost sure 10 weeks is the earliest they can give you dating scan) so an earlier scan won't stop the 12w one :)

P.s. totally know how you feel and mine is 10w!! 11 is quite ridiculous when your scan will be the week after. Maybe phone up and ask them if they can out you on a waiting list for an earlier appointment if one comes up?

chasingtherainbow · 09/03/2015 13:34

Hmm. Just spoken to dh and mentioned scans etc. He's just made a rather valid point that not telling anyone (medically) about the pregnancy isn't wise.. I didn't have any symptoms with my eptopic and leaving it till almost 7 weeks could mean I rupture if It is.. and i know i ov'd from the left which would leave my fertility severely impaired as previously eptopic was on right. . . And he reminded me just how hard it was to get anyone to listen to me and get any help before because I was on no one's radar.

Feeling rather Blush I guess even though I'm scared I have been relying on positive only thoughts= positive pregnancy . . I will dutifully call the mw in a bit.

Amyyy27 · 09/03/2015 13:48

chasing he has a good point. Best to be on the safe side and check everything is where it should be. They may give you a later scan where you can see hb or a private scan?

Need to find something else to focus on as my time is just dragging!

northdownmummy · 09/03/2015 13:52

Got my early scan tomorrow morning and totally terrified. Been feeling nauseous this afternoon which is comforting.

guy hope things have settled down for you

chasingtherainbow · 09/03/2015 13:56

North Down how far along are you? I can't wait to hear all about it.

Amy usually if your early scan. Shows everything but a hb they bring you back a week or so later. But I just don't want to put myself through that. Hb aren't usually visible till 6wks earliest I believe. X

Amyyy27 · 09/03/2015 14:06

north best of luck for your scan tomorrow, how far are you on?

chasing oh well that's good but yes I heard 6 weeks is earliest too. Are you worried about not seeing a hb if you go early? Its totally understandable but you could reassure yourself that it is just too early to see one at that point. I honestly believe this is your take home baby I have a really good feeling for you! x

chasingtherainbow · 09/03/2015 14:10

Yeah.. I'm worried that I'll have to wait a fortnight not knowing if the hb /baby will develop. Also I really. . Really don't want an internal scan. I was really hoping if I left it late if manage a normal one..

gingerbreadmam · 09/03/2015 14:16

chasing have you had an internal scan before? i had one when had my mmc and it was completely fine. in all honesty my bladder was hurting so much from holding onto all the water it was a relief to have the internal scan.

can you wait till 8 weeks for your early scan? i had to wait two weeks between scans when mmc'd it was psychological torture (although i should have been 9 wks at first scan so was obvious there was a problem in hindsight).

Amyyy27 · 09/03/2015 14:25

I have a feeling you have to be about 10 weeks for an external scan.. I could be totally wrong so anyone feel free to correct me! I know I had to have internal at 6 weeks. The thought of it was worse than it was (with my MIL sat next to me haha! Good job we are close!) so try not to worry about an internal. I had niggly doubts that putting something inside me could harm the baby .. however if sex is safe then I'm sure internal must be too again anyone correct me if I'm wrong :)

chasingtherainbow · 09/03/2015 14:32

I had a normal scan at 6 weeks with dd. But I was a size ten then.
I had 4 internal scans in 7 days with my ectopic. They were extremely painful and traumatic and I'm not sure I can face another. And I'm just terrified that anything going up there will cause a mc.

gingerbreadmam · 09/03/2015 14:35

oh chasing that does sound traumatic. could be worth googling to see if internal scan is painful with eptopic just incase thats why it hurt last time?

i doubt they would offer internal scans if they risked a mc although u may be wrong.

i think you can have external scans before 10 weeks amy not sure when tbh but at my 9 week one i did a lot of research and wasnt expecting an internal one.

Amyyy27 · 09/03/2015 14:46

oh chasing that sounds awful! ginger could be right about ectopic causing more pain though as I didn't really feel a thing. What did hurt was my external at 10 weeks. I think that could have been due to mc though. That was really painful!

I thought I would be wrong, sorry guys! its just when I went for 6w (in fact they thought I was 8w at that time as well) they told me to have an empty bladder as it would be an internal scan. May be my area? That makes me feel much better though that potentially my early scan will be external! did you see much at 9 weeks ginger ?

chasingtherainbow · 09/03/2015 15:00

Empty bladders are needed for internals but full for external.

Tbh my first internal didn't hurt. The following ones probably hurt due to the fact my right ovary is "tucked so far up and out of the way I have no idea how the sperm found it in the first place" Hmm .. she had me crawling up the bed sobbing before I begged her to stop. It felt like she was in my stomach. I think by no4 I'd been poked so much inside even just thinking about it made me wince.

I'm sure it would be fine.. but I'd do what I can to avoid the experience.

chasingtherainbow · 09/03/2015 15:01

P.s I'm currently 5 hrs late for my period.

gingerbreadmam · 09/03/2015 15:10

do whatever makes you comfortable chasing

amy my 9 week scan was for mmc baby had stopped at 5+4 so could see a sac and something with measurements around it but nothing i would look at and think baby.

however on my antenatal board one of the girls who just had a 9 week scan said can see legs and arms. tbh im holding out till 12 week scan as thats what i want to see, a wiggly baby Grin if i am lucky enough this time.

if you havent got it already there is an adroid app available (probs available on apple too) called ovia pregnancy. you enter your dates and can check it everyday and it tells you where the babys at its really good.

chasingtherainbow · 09/03/2015 15:17

My 6wks scan was just a dot (which flashed on the screen! )... 4 wks later at 10 wks the difference was amazing. Honestly I was proper > mind.blown < .. I could see so much. .. Smile

Amyyy27 · 09/03/2015 15:37

oh ginger sorry :( thanks will have a look.

Aww chasing lovely you have fond memories :)

Well I went and booked the early scan for Saturday 4th April. I then literally stood up straight after and got a crippling pain in my tummy :( I had another sharp pain about 5 minutes after :( I am hoping so badly nothing is going on but I don't feel lucky :( damn!!!!

gingerbreadmam · 09/03/2015 15:40

when i move fast amy i sometimes get pains like ive pulled something. could just be that.
