Hi ladies,

Just wondering if anyone is due in the next couple of weeks and wants to keep a thread of how they're feeling, their daily struggles or keep updated with labour stories etc?!

I'm 38+0 and have been having niggles for a week or so. I have mild polyhydramnios and have been told to expect baby anytime soon, although some days I don't feel pregnant and feel I still have ages to go!

How're you feeling and have you had any signs that your LO will be making an appearance anytime soon?

Fingers crossed MrsCorr! It's over with v quickly.

Welcome Bears!

M/w also suggested chocolate and the odd glass of wine..makes you feel good therefore releases oxytocin, as do massages and nipple stimulation for 20 mins a day. Squats also releases it as the baby's head touches off your cervix. Anything that makes you feel good and relaxed is very important now.

Thought Id spread the word of recommendations! Hope some of it helps!

MrsCorr · 18/02/2015 17:52

Sweep was fine, I'm now 1 1/2 cm dilated so hoping something happens over next few days. Induction booked for next Wednesday if baby hasn't arrived by then Grin midwife has told me to keep active so just about to take a massive walk with the dog. She also said sperm is the best thing to soften cervix (managed to convince dh to DTD last night) so will try to add that into my daily routine as well (not sure about how closely I'll stick to it right enough). If the threat of increased discharge or leaky boobs doesn't put him off it definitely puts me off Blush I've never felt less sexy in my life!

Zsazsabinks · 18/02/2015 20:53

There cannot be much more sexy than mucousy discharge, dignity at the door ladies we have babies to produce!

blankfornames · 18/02/2015 21:00

Hilarious!! Why would the men even want to go near us when we are gloating about 'shows'!!

Well they may get it while they can...it may be a while again afterwards!

hazel88 · 18/02/2015 22:12

Hope those sweeps work their magic overnight for you ladies!

After about 7 hours of regular pains, increasing in frequency and pain was convinced it was all starting. All stopped and back to normal. Boo!

MrsCorr · 18/02/2015 23:39

Fingers crossed something happens, just some cramps so far but I have been out walking loads so might have done too much. My midwife said it could take up to 72 hours for it to happen so trying not to symptom spot yet.
Blank, anything happening for you? Also, are you Irish? Something about the way you write reminds me of how my mum speaks (she's Irish) Smile
Bambi Hmm why do our bodies play tricks?! Makes you think it's time then laughs in your face! Hopefully soon tho Smile

bambi07 · 19/02/2015 05:35

Very true mrscorr!
I'm wide awake at stupid o clock and am firmly sending you labour inducing thoughts. You too blank. Fingers crossed for you both.
I'm hoping come the morning there will be some lovely birth stories. X

blankfornames · 19/02/2015 06:05

...and absolutely nothing! I did have a bloody show yesterday evening but nothing since. Today is my due date so was quite excited at the prospect of going overnight but nothing.
Really want to go myself as opposed to being indueced myself in 10 days.
Labour inducing thoughts all around!!

Cherryblossom200 · 19/02/2015 10:34

No babies today? Thinking of you all Flowers x

blankfornames · 19/02/2015 10:38

Hazel, you're quiet today. I hope it is because you are in the throws of labour as we type!!

MrsCorr · 19/02/2015 10:47

No baby here yet Hmm im trying not to feel down about it but I'm almost a week overdue now & not really had any signs. Hope someone has their baby soon, will give me some hope Smile

bambi07 · 19/02/2015 11:13

Oh exciting that there's no news from hazel! Fingers crossed.
Don't worry about signs mrscorr a lot of people go from nothing to active labour. It is your turn very soon and we are all rooting for babycorr to come very soon. Flowers x

Cherryblossom200 · 19/02/2015 12:24

Oh exciting about Hazel! Hopefully she is in labour! Mrs Corr hopefully soon! Lots of long walks Wink xx

Hi ladies, I'm still here and still pregnant! Just had a busy morning then went for a growth scan. Been a bit of a mardy and emotional cow!

Well, the Registrar has suggested induction next week, so I asked if I could have a sweep first which she offered to do then or with my Midwife next week, I couldn't leap on her quick enough to say 'TODAY PLEASE!'. She said she was going to be brutal to really try and get things going. My cervix is still a bit thick but she said she could feel baby's head and everything is looking good. There was a bit of bleeding and now feel like I'm coming on my period but my god I'd recommend them if anyone is offered one and hasn't had one yet, it is rather uncomfortable but over so quickly. When she uttered the word 'induction' I was a quivering mess Confused Just waiting to book it in now just incase it's needed for midweek but will be having another sweep probably Monday if all is still quiet.

DP is on his way home due to the weather meaning he can't work. I'm now off to McDonald's to order my weight in food then get my pyjamas on when I get in and just hibernate.

Huhhhh, so that's me! Has anyone had ANY promising signs yet?!

bambi07 · 19/02/2015 14:18

I'm pleased you've had a sweep hazel, fingers crossed things will progress for you. Iv had no signs since yesterday and feeling like a mardy cow myself. OH has been laughing at my belly and belly button because it's gone really dark, so he decided to draw a cat on my tummy with my belly button as the cats arse! How flattering! He sent it to my mum and she showed it to all her colleagues at her community midwife meeting, apparently made them all laugh, so thought I'd share to see if it brings a smile to anyone else.

Cherryblossom200 · 19/02/2015 14:28

Hazel that's great news!!! That's how my labour started with period pains. But what started things off properly was 2 long walks. It was freezing but I still did it. Waters went then. You have to move around to get the hormones working. So I wouldn't recommend snuggling up at home! Grin good luck!! Xxx

SconeCreamJam · 19/02/2015 14:42

Ha bambi LOVE the belly picture!!! Grin

hazel88 · 19/02/2015 14:44

Hahaha bambi that's so funny! I'm sure you must be struggling to see the funny side at the moment though bearing in mind how you're feeling!

Oh cherry really?! Going for a walk is one of the last things on my mind at the mo! Might have to try it though. Just read in my notes that I'm 1cm dilated! Induction booked for Tuesday if madam hasn't already arrived, will be booking another sweep Monday though if this one isn't successful.

Sending positive labour thoughts to everyone!

Zsazsabinks · 19/02/2015 15:00

Awesome cat picture!

Labour vibes emanating from here, really want a nice live birth thread!

MrsCorr · 19/02/2015 15:07

Thanks for the labour inducing thoughts, surely they must work for one of us soon!
I've been going long walks every day, about 2 miles & it doesn't seem to be happening yet. Will try again this evening, if I can. My husbands making BBQ ribs in the slow cooker & the smell is driving me crazy Blush going to stuff my face then try a nice walk.

hazel88 · 19/02/2015 15:13

Sounds great Mrs Corr!

Just booked my 2nd sweep for Monday then have the induction Tuesday if baby won't budge. The fluid level around her is now reducing and is at its lowest in quite a while. She's predicted to be a 9lb'er, hoping they've overestimated a bit there Confused Feeling so much better now, the end is in sight!

OP posts:
MrsCorr · 19/02/2015 15:25

I'm booked for induction on Wednesday Hazel, would prefer labour to start on its own but knowing there is an end date is comfortingSmile

hazel88 · 19/02/2015 15:32

Doesn't it make you feel better! I'm so opposed to an induction but neither me or the doctors are keen on me going on much longer haha. The good thing about induction is that you can plan ahead I guess.

OP posts:
MrsCorr · 19/02/2015 15:48

I'm not opposed to induction, wouldn't choose it either though. Have heard some really positive induction stories so trying to focus on that Grin
You're right, being able to plan is the best part about it. Would make life easier if all babies came exactly when they were supposed to & we could plan it. Hate not having any control over it!
