Here we go, as promised...

Yes Dino, I am M2T. Not in disguise though, just got really bored of my name.

So this thread can be a record of the last half of our pregnancies. I'm going to print out the original as a nice log of the first 5 months of the pregnancy.

This is thread we'll all be posting on when we go into labour!! I'm all excited now.

Oops, meant to day, Yes DH is being supportive. I'm doing my part to make things better, he understands that he has to do his part too.

Glad he is being supportive, that is half your battle won I think, it has been getting you down his reactions to your tears etc lateley.

Anyway, will 'speak' to you on the other thread .

sweetkitty · 15/06/2004 12:40

Also glad he is being supportive as well I think it's hard for them to understand that you just can't put a smile on your face and get on with it.

sponge · 15/06/2004 13:51

Good that the midwife took your concerns seriously Toothache and that dh is being more helpful. Feeling like a zombie might not be such a high price to pay - you can just drift along amiling foolishly at people and they'll leave you alone .
Still haven't done any preparation or shopping although dh and I have discussed going to look for a car seat at the weekend. We gave away our baby one from last time (fools) and our lie flat buggy was nicked from outside the house (we lived in a basement at the time so I had to leave it at the top of the stairs while I took dd and shopping down - aren't people lovely), so those are the only two big purchases we need for this one.
Apart from that I'm with you SK, can't get excited about buying breat pads and paper knickers just yet .

I've got all the babies stuff apart from pram and crib but can't bring myself to buy things for my hospital bag yet which is madness as I'll need that more than cute pink dresses.

Oh our next big purchase before the baby arrives is a car, we haven't had one for 3 years but I refuse to lug baby around on all the buses around our way I feel so sorry for women with prams trying to get on a bus and no one will move for them. Knowing me though I will get the bus cos I'll be too scared to drive in London again with the baby!

sponge · 15/06/2004 14:50

Get a sling SK. They're brilliant, esp when babies are really small - they sleep the whole time in them, are easy to carry on public transport etc and you have both hands free.
That's the other big purchase for us too - a car!
WE have one but it's hatchback and I think trying to get 2 kids in and out of the back seat will be too difficult. Also not enough room in the back for all dds stuff plus travel cot, changing mat, nappies, steriliser blah blah blah every time you go away for the weekend.
Where do you live Dino? We seem to have a few Londoners here. We should meet up with our newborns once they've arrived.

sweetkitty · 15/06/2004 15:39

thanks sponge already getting a sling DP desperate to carry baby about! We'll just be getting a small car insurance too high for anything else. Should be OK with just the one but know what you mean about two. People carrier for you them

Think a meet ups a great idea

I agree you don't really need a car in London. We use ours for the weekly Sainsbury's and that's it. And dd loves going on the bus or tube.
The car is mainly for going to visit people who live out of London - like my parents - and that's when you have loads of stuff and need a bigger one.
We've had a hatchback since dd was born and it has been fine with just one.
Whereabouts are you SK?

Bloody hell Dino!! My books say anything between 3.5 and 4lb at 32 wks! He's a whopper.

Were your others big babies?

OP posts:
sponge · 16/06/2004 15:31

Crikey. Still look on the bright side, an enormous tummy is better than an enormous head .

sweetkitty · 16/06/2004 17:06

wow 5lbs I'm impressed don't they slow down the last few weeks anyway?

Don't know how much this bubs weighs but think she's got very large feet and legs from the amount of kicking I'm getting today.

Oh we went to antenatal class last night saw some gruesome videos, it's more for DP as I'm addicted to the Discovery Channel. He's now decided he is not going to look at all at the business end.

dinny · 16/06/2004 17:08

Hello, there all. I am still due 5th September but am sure will deliver early August! Can I still join you here?

Toothache, sorry to hear you are feeling bad. At least they are watching you carefully - hopefully the Ads will stop you from feeling any worse, then make you feel lots better. And talking to us on Mumsnet too.

Dino - wow, what a whopper! Can't remember if this is your first...?

I live in London too and would love to come to a newborn meet-up! x

sweetkitty · 16/06/2004 17:18

I've got the 1st August in my head for some reason (due 4th) but happy for a few weeks before that.

I'm in SE London near Greenwich

dinny · 16/06/2004 17:22

Maybe I'll have your due date of the 4th then, Sweetkitty (smile).

I'm in Tooting. Not a million miles from you.

sponge · 16/06/2004 17:50

Welcome to August Dinny, although you may have noticed that we're mostly v early August and trying to sneak into July. Still, just wishful thinking so far.
Looks like we're dotted around all over the place but you get used to travelling about in London so I'm sure we can find somewhere to meet .
I had appalling indigestion last night - really painful - but am feeling much better today although v tired as didn't get much sleep - my aching tummy, dh snoring and dd waking up crying with a nightmare .
Still, at leats it's Friday .

sweetkitty · 16/06/2004 19:11

Fair enough Dinny we are all trying to have a coordinated birth here all on the same day. You are welcome to join us.

dino what a whopper. I have a feeling I'll deliver at the end of July as well - but that is probably just wishful thinking. Have started to get nervous about 'getting baby out', didn't give it much thought last time and c/s was fine (emergency) but in retrospect it was very weird being cut open when you are awake but don't really fancy tearing etc if natural birth....Guess it's natural to start getting worried at this stage and there's nothing I can do about it now - he has to come out somehow!!!

sponge · 17/06/2004 15:14

I had a massive tear last time and didn't even know until they started sewing me up afterwards. Stitches were a bit uncomfortable for a few days but it wasn't that big a deal really. What will happen will happen and these babies will come out but whatever means they have to. Doesn't stop the worry tho - I'm starting to get a bit anxious now too.

karen01 · 17/06/2004 15:46

Dino- That is a whopper, At my 36 week scan (3wks ago) the estimated fetal weight was 5lb 11oz. my DD was born at 36weeks weighing only 4lb 14oz.

Ouch

Good luck everyone won't be long.

dinny · 17/06/2004 19:57

Dino, my dd was born at 35+5 and weighed 6lb 7oz. Keep thinking I had a lucky escape from a full-term whopper. At least it's not your first!!
