Here we go, as promised...

Yes Dino, I am M2T. Not in disguise though, just got really bored of my name.

So this thread can be a record of the last half of our pregnancies. I'm going to print out the original as a nice log of the first 5 months of the pregnancy.

This is thread we'll all be posting on when we go into labour!! I'm all excited now.

Hello folks, feeling large and heavy today - how hot is it???? Very nice if you are not carrying an extra 2 stones nearly, was 10 stone now 11 stone 12 arrrghhhhh, and ONLY 30 weeks.

Sorry to hear you have been down again toothache/sweetkitty, I have been very weepy this weekend as well, totally irrational mood swings and sobbing going on. Dh has been fairly good tbh, but he says he never knows how I am going to react to the slightest thing - I sobbed because he went to the pub to watch the football ffs, the poor man hasn't been out in months.

I like these new smiley things, this was me at lunchtime when a size 8 gorgeous babe strolled by .

I am due August 18 and hope to work till about 35 or 36 weeks, not sure yet. Dh wants me to finish earlier but his bloody relatives from Canada are coming to stay for a week IN OUR HOUSE so I would rather be at work than being a hostess.

Toothache · 13/06/2004 16:42

Long time no see OO!

Thanks ma dear... I know I'll be all right, they'll just chuck me in the looney bin right away this time.

I was about 11stone before this pregnancy, so I dread to think what I am now.... as I stuff another Jam Doughnut down my throat.

Yeah, you're probably better off at work!

I'm normally only 8 stone but am a solid 10 now. 2 stone is obviously the consensus weight gain at around 31/32 wks. It is mostly bump too although I don't kid myself that my arse hasn't grown - it's just dwarfed by the growth out front.
I do like having tits though. A novelty for me .
Just been to have my legs waxed. I thought I'd try and acclimatise my body to pain in small increments .

sleeplessmum2be · 13/06/2004 18:09

hi to all, havent posted for a while but have to say that feel really really down today i think that there must be a 30-32 week hormonal surge going on cos i have spent most of the morning in tears having had an arguement with my best friend. Toothache and sweet kitty (any anyone else with a history of PND or depression) i have been told that if i show any signs of going down a depression path (i know sit here and question it myself) that my obstetrician will give me immediate progesterone to boost the hormones to try and keep the depression at bay. Dont know if that would be pre or post natally but might be worth you asking your docs too!!! It kind of feels that i have a small safety net sitting ready which may help you both if its possible!!!!
Big hugs to all us lumbering hormonal sweaty women today
PS my due date is August 14th and any news with anyone else suffering with SPD??

sweetkitty · 13/06/2004 21:30

good to see you olive oil and sleeplessmum to be

thanks dino and toothache I haven't actually been down just the worries always there saying that if I wasn't worrying about that I would be worrying about something else.

I'm in the 2 stone gained club too - used to be 9 and a half now rapidly approaching 12.

Went to see midwife today and saw doctor instead don't know why and baby has turned thought she had from the kicks in the ribs I've been getting, alls well though. Had to wait 50 minutes to be seen, it's 31 degrees here today loads of pregnant red faced women fanning themselves with maternity notes.

Podmog - I've been having difficulty sleeping too. But it's only really been in the passed few weeks (other than frequent toilet trips!!). I find that the only way to cope is to have an afternoon nap at the weekends. That allows me to get through the working week. Luckily DS is still having a good 2hr sleep in the afternoon so I snuggle in beside him.

It's the catch 22 situation though, the more desperate you are to sleep, the more frustrated you get.... which, in return means you can't sleep!

Napping whenever possible is definitely the answer for me. I sit reading catalogues in bed at strange times of the night now! Is it possible for you to have a daytime sleep just a couple of days out of the week?

I've got an antenatal appointment today and I'm going to speak to the midwife about my fears of PND and also my every increasing occurances of panic attacks and hysteria. I know what she'll say though.... it'll be something flippant like "Aren't those hormones a pain"... or "we'll see how you are in a couple of weeks".

Well I don't want to! I KNOW this is more than normal hormonal behaviour and I know how qucikly it escalated last time.

But how do I get them to take me seriously???? I'm fed-up being treated like an idiot by the antenatal medical folk.

32 weeks today and it seems like the bad stuff is starting to kick in. Piles and my hands and feet are starting to spread. Have had to stop wearing my rings (have move wedding ring to little finger as last time they threatened to cut it off as it got stuck) and yeasterday I took my shoes off at work in the afternoon and then couldn't get them back on. I thought I'd have to go home barefoot which is not a great idea in central London.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting to sleep but I do fall back to sleep OK after my frequent pee breaks. Still tired but nothing like what you're ging through Podmog. Really naps are going to be the only answer I think. My dd is past the daytime nap stage now but dh does take her off to the park and let me have a lie down sometimes at the weekend. Can yours help out a bit more so you can get soe daytime rest?

Good luck at your antenatal Toothache. Don't let them fob you off. We all get a bit hormonal and weepy or snappy/ angry but what you're going through is more than that so don't leave until they understand that and offer some constructive help. With your history they really should take it seriously.

Chin up everyone. Only about 8 weeks until we have beautiful babies and it will all have been worthwhile

me 32 weeks today as well! Sponge where in central London are you as I'm at Holborn Circus.

I'm the opposite with sleeping, I can sleep for 12 hours no problem never had a problem with sleep it's the one thing I'm good at. I put my head down I fall asleep. We are hoping the baby inherits my sleeping gene because apparently I had to be woken to be fed as a baby as I was always asleep. I don't hink I'm drinking enough water either as I don't have to get up in the night.

Plan for today is to drink more water.

Hope you get on OK today toothache sending you good luck vibes.

oliveoil · 14/06/2004 13:11

I woke up at 2am and was so wide awake I could have got up and come into work, felt great! Took till about 3am to go back to sleep and then dd woke up (shouting dada dada dada, hurrah not for me) at 6am, but then I felt like a bag of shite. Can't get comfy at all at the mo.

Agree on standing your ground with your appts re PND, I feel down sometimes but it must be dreadful anticipating whether you are going to suffer from PND again if you have had it previously, go in to see the m/w like this .

Had to stand up waiting for my bus last night for 20 mins whilst loads of people sat on the benches looking at me, must practice my hard stares to shame them, b@stards .

Toothache · 14/06/2004 13:13

OO - I find that letting out a short gasp (as if in labour) tends to get even the most selfish of twats to move off their fat arses and give me seat.

Just round the corner SK - Tottenham Court Road!

sweetkitty · 14/06/2004 16:04

|love the people (men especially) who look at you, then look at your belly then still don't offer you a seat! I have been offered a seat only twice and both times by women our age.

Sponge - at least you've got decent shops up Oxford Street to browse for baby stuff at lunchtime.

I have been overcome in Boots by baby fever! Have just bought:

Pack of ickle nappies, soooo small compared to dd's huge pads!
Disposable knickers for me
Pads for me
Breast pads for me
Toothbrush
Mini shampoo and conditioner
Toothbrush
and for some bizarre reason, a Special K snack bar!

I am getting v excited now, preparing my bag makes it all seem real somehow.

sweetkitty · 14/06/2004 16:35

know what you mean dino I don't think anyone in the Square Mile has babies .

I haven't bought anything for my hospital bag yet can't quite bring myself to buy 6 packs of maternity sanitary towels and disposable pants.

oliveoil · 14/06/2004 16:37

Know what you mean, hardly glam is it this baby lark?

sibble · 15/06/2004 00:48

wow plenty of activity on this thread since I last checked in. I may be moaning about being in a NZ winter (rains loads) but I guess at least I don't have heat related swelling to worry about and the extra padding should be helping to keep me warm. Am a stone heavier than I started out but did lose a stone in the first trimester so guess that means I've put on 2 stone too. Still getting used to the growing bump, kep catching it when ironing yesterday and keep getting stuck trying to squuze past people then having to apologise.
Jeep tyre blew the other day on countyr lane near home with DS asleep in the back, managed to slow down and eventually stop but no schmuck stopped to help even though i was trying to flag somebody down. DH reckons the blokes must have thought I was in labour and kept passing - that I should have put up a sign saying - 'not in labour, flat tyre' and they would have stopped!!!!!
Am going shopping today to start putting a few things aside for my bag - so exciting.

Toothache · 15/06/2004 11:18

Hi all. Antenatal appointment went well: Baby is fine and head down! Yeah!!!

I am fine physically, but when I explained to her how I'd been feeling she decided to do the Edinburgh Test. I scored 18!!

She hurried off and fetched the GP who I had a long chat with. He prescribed AD's. I took one last night before bed (as advised) and have woken up feeling like a right zombie! I've started a thread about this.

Anyway... that what happened and here I am.

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 15/06/2004 12:11

hi toothache glad baby is fine

Thats the thing about ADs they don't kick in for at least 3 weeks but the side-effects start straight away sods law really, persevere and see how you get on.

I'm getting really fed up with work now just don't have any motivation - still got 22 days to go and feeling every one. At least I have parentcraft class to cheer me up tonight

oliveoil · 15/06/2004 12:19

Toothache - what is the edinburgh test, not heard of that. Don't know much about AD but hope things work out. What did dh say? Is he being supportive.

Toothache · 15/06/2004 12:27

Thanks Sweetkitty - It does seem unfaor that they make you feel worse before feeling better. I know it'll be worth in the long run. But I only have 3 wks left to work..... seems I'll be a zombie for most of that. Might make it pass quicker, perhaps I should up the dose!

OO - The Edinbrugh test is those 10 questions you get at your 6wk post natal check-up. They range from:
Do you laugh at things as much as you used to?
to
Do you have feelings of self-harm or suicide?

I think any score about a 10 is an indicator of depression.
