Here we go, as promised...

Yes Dino, I am M2T. Not in disguise though, just got really bored of my name.

So this thread can be a record of the last half of our pregnancies. I'm going to print out the original as a nice log of the first 5 months of the pregnancy.

This is thread we'll all be posting on when we go into labour!! I'm all excited now.

No idea Muriwai. Sibble, what is it??

Castor Oil is another old favourite. Now THAT is minging! When I was on the Antenatal ward for the few days before ds was born a couple of the women were given a real telling off for sneaking in castor oil and putting it in their tea!! And I had to make up an elaborate story as to why I just wanted cups of hot water instead of tea when the wee trolley lady came round.

muriwai · 04/07/2004 13:28

NO WAY is anyone getting castor oil down my throat - not unless they want me to puke this baby out!

sponge · 04/07/2004 13:29

I'm so jealous SK, I'm up at least 3 times every night and have been almost all the way through this time.

Had my scan yesterday afternoon. Placenta has moved out of the way enough and his head is below it now so we're all systems go for a natural delivery. Hurrah.
He has a slightly small head and a huge tummy so I'm giving birth to a pinhead with a beergut - just like his dad then .

Good luck with your last day Toothache. It must be such a relief.
I'm having a pretty slack week myself actually. Left early for the scan yesterday, "working from home" because of the tube strike tomorrow and then off Thursday and Friday as we're going to France for a wedding. Lovely .

Toothache · 04/07/2004 13:31

Great news Sponge!!!
I;m been up at least once a night all the way through this pregnancy too. Grrrrrrrrrr!

Are you flying to France Sponge???

OP posts:
oliveoil · 04/07/2004 13:33

Bollocking hell, I am anaemic (sp), confirmed yesterday so now I have to have iron tablets. Does anyone know how long they take to kick in, feel like shite .

Toothache · 04/07/2004 13:34

OO - But at least you know why you feel like shit now! I think they are pretty fast acting, so you should be back to your old self in no time.

OP posts:
Toothache · 04/07/2004 13:36

OO - Make sure you eat loads of fruit coz they might make you a bit constipated.

OP posts:
oliveoil · 04/07/2004 13:39

They are the same tablets I had after my section with dd and they didn't have any effect on my 'movements' (polite doc term) last time. Very fed up, have no energy at all for dd and feel mean.

Last week at work hurrah, but also how on earth am I going to cope with a stroppy 20 month old who wonders why mummy won't run around????

Toothy - how many weeks are you again?

Sponge - good news

muriwai · 04/07/2004 13:40

OO - - hope you feel better soon.

sponge · 04/07/2004 13:46

Hope you feel better soon OO. I just tell my toddler that daddy will have to help her as mummy is stuck in her chair - sometimes I get away with it.

Yup Toothache, flying to France. Considered driving but it's about a 14 hour drive and we're taking dd who gets car sick so flying seemed like the best option. I'll check with the midwife tomorrow that she doesn't see any reason not to and get her to re-endorse my "OK to fly" letter. Should be OK as Swissair will fly you up to 36 weeks and I'll be 35+4 when we come back (cutting it fine I know but still within the limits).

Toothache · 04/07/2004 13:57

Oh OO it's tiring enough without adding an iron deficiency into the equation.

I'll be 35 wks on Friday. If I can just hang on for another 2/3wks I'll be happy.

sweetkitty · 04/07/2004 18:08

I've got until next Friday at work. Boss has just given me a big to do list before I go

Might go for a little sleep as now back at home.

Sponge - that's great news about the placenta

Toothache · 04/07/2004 18:17

SK - Tell him to fuck off, then burst into tears. Male Bosses just cannot handle a pregnant woman crying!

sibble · 04/07/2004 23:22

hi y'all
so toothache you are a lady of leisure - I am jealous. I have a concoction of rlt, black and blue cohosh and nettles made by a medical herbalist friend of mine. The cohoshes are supposed to bring on uterine contractions so you start with a low doses then build up, they also can be a bit of a happy pill relaxing you etc., the nettles are full of iron and generally good for you. Problem is it is meant to taste absolutely foul. Didn't take any yesterday as felt sick last night and didn't want to chance it so will take bottle into work today - any excuse to leave early!!!!
OO sorry about your anaemia, it really is a sh*t isn't it, it took 10 days before my iron pills kicked in and 3 weeks before I felt human again, hopefully they will kick in soon for you. I upped my intake of steak, spinach, oranges and iron rich foods as well at the same time.
I'm worried too about going into labour with DS around, still havn't worked out who is having him when I do. Is starting to keep me awake at night so need to get it sorted. Am more worried about DH's 'last nights of freedom' trips to the pub, that he won't be able to drive me anywhere if I go into labour early. The little darling sheepishly asked if he could go on a go-carting weekend the weekend before baby is due - didn't need to answer the look said it all - 'I'll take that as a no then shall I' he sadly said as he told them he couldn't go. Then I felt guilty - blokes ehhh????

Pennies · 05/07/2004 11:40

Yes, my DH keeps submitting so called "pink slips" with requests for nights out with the boys. The agreement was that he should be sober enough to drive all the time after 8 weeks before the birth (i.e. from this weekend) and already I've had two further requests some in. I was really lucky and got pregnant very quickly indeed so its not as if I had an opportunity to have any "last nights of freedom"! But agree with you about feeling guilty if I said no (haven't yet but might be veto-ing an annual boys weekend to Goodwood at the beginning of August!).

Oliveoil - I got told I was anaemic a couple of weeks ago and was prescribed iron tablets (Ferrous Sulphate @ 200mg per day). I felt really cheesed off about it because I really thought I was getting my vits in and eating well. Have been eating more spinach during this pregnancy than Popeye so was quite surprised that I was anaemic. Have noticed that the iron tablets have slowed my system down quite a bit so have been eating dried apricots which are also rich in iron to keep everything going! Take your tabs with orange juice as the Vitamin C helps the body to absorb the iron.

So jealous of you Toothache! Can't wait to finish work but still got another 4 weeks and 1 day left (plus two days off but they don't count!). I've really lost my motivation and today I'm starting the process of making sure all my admin adn filing is up to date before I go!

Felt sure that labour was imminent last night (not sure why as I've still got 8 weeks to go, but I just felt really odd) so have decided that this weekend I'll start to prepare my hospital bag. Quite looking forward to doing that for some reason!

Have been having some really scared moments about labour. Am totally dreading it. Anyone else feel the same?

sponge · 05/07/2004 13:18

35 weeks today, off work due to tube strike and have finally started shopping. Yippee.
Ordered a buggy and car seat yesterday and they have already been delivered this morning. Good prices and free delivery too - and they're in Glasgow Toothache. Incredibly impressed.

Midwife appt this afternoon so hopefully all will be well and not too imminent as we're off to France tomorrow for a wedding this weekend.

And yes Pennies, everyone's dreading labour. It just isn't much fun. But it's the only means to an end and the end is worth it .

muriwai · 05/07/2004 13:50

Yes Pennies - the prospect of labour is definitely becoming more real and more scary, especially as baby seems to be moving downwards and putting a lot more pressure on my whole pelvic area - just reminds me that, yup she's got to get out of there somehow. I just hope she's got herself into a good position, but I've got a 36-week scan next week, so I guess that'll reveal all.

Sponge - fingers crossed that the M/W gives you the all clear to travel.

sweetkitty · 05/07/2004 14:28

muri - I'm the same about labour I think it is fear of the unknown but I just keep thinking about holding my little girl in my arms. Know what you mean about the pelvis feelings as well. Think I'm having some BHs as well.

35 weeks today cannot believe it will be all over one way or the other 7 weeks maximum and I'll be a mum. Got a stinking cold now and feel like s* today. Came into work late because of the tube strike I don't get the tube to work but the buses were mega busy. Should have stayed at home but got loads to do.

Toothache my boss has been really good since I announced I was PG. Loads of people in our team left and I was left with the jobs of 3 people to do, we got new people in but they are no where near trained. He fought for a good bonus for me and I've just been promoted to the next grade up (the pay rise is ineffective during mat leave though). I'm hoping to come back 3 days a week in January and job share with someone else coming back off mat leave.

littlerach · 05/07/2004 22:26

I have been on those iron tabs too, and I was warned not to up my intake of iron rich food, as the dosage should be adequate, also not to concsiously take them alongside vit C rich foods. You can have too much iron, especially when taken in tablet form.....not sure if this is just a warning, or if it is seriously possible. Don't mean to panic anyone, just passing on what I was told.

oliveoil · 06/07/2004 12:20

I have been taking my iron tabs with water as that is what it says on the instructions, I have orange juice in the morning anyway so hopefully it will work its way in somewhere! Feeling a bit more lively today, its the afternoons when I feel knackered.

LAST WORKING DAY TODAY, HURRAH!

Big kicks from baby today, felt like it was going to make an appearance out of my noonar on the bus

sibble · 06/07/2004 23:31

lol oo. Dh keeps looking at me as though baby is suddenly going to appear between my legs - keep telling him if only it was that easy...can you imagine being in the aisle at sainsbury's - oops there's teh baby, never mind pop him in the trolley, need to do the frozen section first!!!!

I take my iron pills with a huge glass of water follwed by a glass of jiuce or some fruit. I'm also taking multivits which include iron but my midwife told me you can basically double the dose I am having 375mg and be OK - guess as ever information depends on who you see. I was gutted at being anaemic as was eating very well, taking multivits with iron and flurodix (plant based iron) and still got very anaemic!!!!who knows why.

Anyway have good weekends everybody. Now we are in July the July list will start to have their babies then it will be our turn - exciting but scary....

sweetkitty · 06/07/2004 23:35

Think mine is playing "headie" football with my bladder. Keep feeling like I need the loo but when I go virtually nothing. Got tingling sensation in my pelvis as well.

Wow can't believe it's the first of July getting close now girls

Toothache · 07/07/2004 01:11

OMG!
I think I just had a show!!!!
WARNING - GROSS DESCRIPTION COMING UP.....

I went to the loo for a pee and after I'd wiped and pulled up my HUUUUUGE maternity pants my back felt wet! So I pulled them back down and looked at my back in the mirror...... the was a chunk of gunky stuff stuck to my back! It didn't have blood in, it was just mucus like gunk!

What d'you think girls?? I haven't phoned the hospital coz it's quite far away, I don't want them saying I'd best go in.... just for them to poke around and send me home. I am just going to see what happens over the next few days.

How soon can you get a show before labour starts? All the books seem to contradict themselves, but I read in one that it could still take 2 wks to go into labour. Now THAT would be perfect.... but I'm only 35wks at the mo and it's a bit early. I don't know whether to be excited or worried! HELP!

OP posts:
Toothache · 07/07/2004 12:10
