Trying not to overreact. Braxton Hicks?

History is carried dd at 40+4
Carried DS to 32+6 before my waters went and I gave birth to him at 33+4.

I'm now 32+2 with dd2.

I've never had braxton hicks before. I've felt unwell all day with high back pain (kidney sort of areas, high up to either side). Have been soaking in the bath for an hour and my bump keeps going rock hard and I'm getting lots of pain. But feels more like muscle pain around bump than the period pain type of contractions that I had with dd and ds.

It's almost squeezing my bladder and really hurting.

And baby hasn't moved for a few hours, though was kicking like made this morning.

I'm just being stupid aren't I. It's all fine.

I don't want to be dramatic and waste people's time. I'm already a drain on the NHS having to have 9 scans so far already and endless tests Blush

Better to go.in and get sent home for "nothing" than to ignore something serious.

just call. can't hurt to just call. You have a history of pre term. Please just call and get checked out

Ummm I'm a first-timer and am 36+6, I can't offer much advice I'm afraid but would recommend calling the Hospital just to be sure, there's no harm in seeking some advice from a Midwife. I'm not sure whether I've had Braxton Hicks but now and then my belly goes rock hard and I can just feel a real tight sensation around bump. I've also had random pains, like last week I had a few episodes of back pain so strong it took my breath away and made my eyes water, also had shooting pains right in to my fanny which made me wonder if I had a UTI starting (turns out it wasnt), but only the odd pain- nothing consistent so I haven't phoned the Midwife.

I imagine it probably is Braxton Hicks but I think it's well worth giving your Hospital a bell just to get some advice Smile

Okey cokey I'll give the hospital a bell. That means getting out of my bath though and walking alllll the way downstairs. Urgh!

Please ring your maternity unit. Tell them how you're feeling and they will most likely ask you to go in. It may be that you have a urinary tract infection.

Also, any time you are concerned about your baby's movements you need to be checked over.

I had almost 30 scans with DD. You are not a drain on the nhs. Call triage. If movement has changed/ reduced get in immediately to be monitored.

Reading your post, I think you should call the midwife. It's probably fine but it can't hurt.

Yeah I thought UTI. I have a feeling that's what caused my PROM with ds, though the hospital have never confirmed that.

I'm so bleedin uncomfortable. Selfishly I want this baby at 34 weeks anyway so I haven't got to feel this bad. I do not do pregnancy very well.

monkey I'd ring the unit. My prem was due to my waters breaking with a uti. With your history your higher risk of having baby early. Even if it is just a uti they can test and get antibiotics into you. And if it's early labour you need steroid injections as soon as possible.

But those steroids HURT! Don't worry team I'm going to call them in a sec. Dh is on his way home to sit with the older kids.

I'm not silly, I will go if you all think I need to. I still feel like I'm being a drama llama though Hmm

I had movements stop with my son he was sadly stillborn. I'm not saying that too scare you but you do really need to get checked Flowers

I've had 4 scans at 17 weeks, will probably hit double figures! You're not a drain, it's what they're there for. Hope all is well.

Yeah well we will all be more than happy to sit here after laughing at the time you had Braxton hicks and went to a&e Wink

we will call you a drama llama if you want. AFTER you get back from hospital and have been checked out.

til then consider yourself poked with sticks til you got in the car and are talking to a Dr x FlowersBrew

I'm waiting in triage. Pains and tightening have gone, but I feel like I'm going to wee myself and still haven't felt her move.

I drove myself here and everyfink. In DH car mind, in case my waters went Wink
