Trying not to overreact. Braxton Hicks?

History is carried dd at 40+4
Carried DS to 32+6 before my waters went and I gave birth to him at 33+4.

I'm now 32+2 with dd2.

I've never had braxton hicks before. I've felt unwell all day with high back pain (kidney sort of areas, high up to either side). Have been soaking in the bath for an hour and my bump keeps going rock hard and I'm getting lots of pain. But feels more like muscle pain around bump than the period pain type of contractions that I had with dd and ds.

It's almost squeezing my bladder and really hurting.

And baby hasn't moved for a few hours, though was kicking like made this morning.

I'm just being stupid aren't I. It's all fine.

Thinking of you Monkey Thanks

Littleturkish · 31/01/2015 06:13

Oh my love- wishing you all the best- hopefully measuring at 40 weeks means you have a good sized baby in there.

monkeyfacegrace · 31/01/2015 06:37

I'm still pregnant. Drugs have stopped contractions.

I feel like shit. Blood pressure was 79/35 and I'm running a temp.

Why can't I just be normal?!

Do you have a urine infection on top of everything else, too?

You're in the best place- have you got your DH with you? Or at least visitors coming today?

monkeyfacegrace · 31/01/2015 06:43

No, no UTI. Swab has shown bloody strep b though so will need antibiotics in labour.

I'm petrified of cannulars. They had to hold me down last night.

My worst nightmare!

And yes Dh is with me, though is as useless as a fish with fucking tits. He's happily slept all night and enjoying being brought tea. What a twat.

Just caught your thread, hope they manage to keep dd in a little longer. Try not to be too frightened of the cannula, once it's in you can't feel it much. xx

afreshstartplease · 31/01/2015 07:16

Oh monkey you poor thing

Atleast you are in the right place

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 31/01/2015 07:43

Just caught up on this, so glad you went in to be checked. MonkeyFace. Wake DH up and send him out for a bloody McDonalds breakfast! Crossing fingers your DD stays put a but longer.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 31/01/2015 07:43

Gileswithachainsaw · 31/01/2015 07:58

Oh gosh. You poor thing. Thank god you went in.

hope all is ok. try to rest if you can and send that dh to go get you something to eat.Flowers

monkeyfacegrace · 31/01/2015 08:38

I've got my pepsi max and chicken fajita wrap Smile

I sent him out to Asda at 6 am!

I'm fed up of the limbo.

Me and DH are having very serious debates about what we will do when we win the lottery tonight.

fattymcfatfat · 31/01/2015 09:00

Oh well at least things seem to have settled for a bit now. When you win the lottery I think you should get your arse on holiday. ..after this you definitely need one!

DropYourSword · 31/01/2015 09:06

The reason your blood pressure will have crashed is most likely because of the drugs they gave you to stop the labour.

When I worked as a MW, women were given nifedipine to try to stop labour. It's a drug that lowers blood pressure by relaxing smooth muscle around the veins (as far as I remember, in simple terms)! So giving you that drug helps to relax the smooth muscle of your uterus and reduces cramping / contractions, to a degree. It won't really stop labour for any length of time if you are going to go into established labour, but it will buy you some time for the steroids to kick in!

DropYourSword · 31/01/2015 09:07

But that being said, it's pretty frickin low!

monkeyfacegrace · 31/01/2015 11:42

I just want to either go into labour or go home. This is horrible.

More steroids in a minute. And they hurt Sad

I'm not very brave!

Irelephant · 31/01/2015 12:21

Pleased everything's ok(ish) those steroids fecking hurt I had bruises for months.

Pleased you went in and got seen Flowers

fattymcfatfat · 31/01/2015 12:38

Aww hun because you have gone into labour they wont be able to hold it off forever. They need you in hosp for the steroids to make sure your baby is as strong as possible, not nice but a necessity Flowers

You are brave. Very brave. I cry and pass out when I have injections, so you're doing better than me and I have them fortnightly so really should be used to it

Best of luck.

BellMcEnd · 31/01/2015 14:31

Oh best of luck. Sending you virtual support. OTH: useless as a fish with fucking tits nearly made me wet myself. Well done! I shall add it to my selection of profanities

monkeyfacegrace · 01/02/2015 07:08

I'm still pregnant. Grrr. Those steroids had better not have been for nothing!

I feel like the worst person in the world as everyone keeps telling me it's a good thing that baby is staying put. I just want her out of me now. It's so hard being this poorly all the time.

Hopefully can go home this morning.

2 lots of blood tests, 2 cannulas, endless blood pressures, temperatures, baby monitoring, meds every 15 mins, steroids, antibiotics, being told I have strep b so need iv antibiotics when I do go into labour. Moan moan moan moan moan.
