What's the best bit about having a newborn?

I'm 21 weeks pregnant with my first DC and have heard nothing but horror stories and birth, having a newborn and how I won't ever have time to have a shower or tidy my housemate, EVER AGAIN!! Grin I absolutely accept this, I just want to hear something good about saving a newborn.

Tell me some lovely things about having a newborn, please?

Oh my god this thread is killing me! DS is 5 weeks old and is currently snuffling away in his sleep next to me in his little moses basket.

I definitely appreciate things a lot more this time around, first time round we were too focused on routine and being the perfect first time parents that we didn't really enjoy this stage as much as we should have because it goes by too bloody fast.

This is also our last Sad so I'm definitely getting my money's worth in terms of sleepy cuddles, and doing all of the things they say will spoil them Smile now my response is 'don't you worry about it, it'll be me who deals with it if it comes to that' when MIL gives me that look for cuddling him to sleep.

He is just perfect, his massive eyes that follow me when I walk past, his chunky hairy shoulders and little rolls in his thighs Grin I could weep when he tries to latch onto my cheek/nose when he's hungry - he actually latched onto my bottom lip last night when I was giving him far too many kisses Grin

Enjoy it all. It won't seem like it at the time, when you're on your knees and could actually cry with tiredness - but it is one of the most special things you'll ever experience.

Oh and lanugo! Meaning the cutest, hairiest babies. Ds currently has hairy cheeks and hairy ears, the softest little monkey ever.

When the bottom lip curls out before they cry
