Flabber - congrats on your pegnancy! You must be so pleased

flabbergasted · 31/10/2006 13:18

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble, (excellent name by the way) thank you.
I'll admit to some mixed emotions: on one level I'm thrilled beyond imagining, on another I'm worried I'll be a terrible (and terribly embarrassing) mother, on another I'm worried the baby won't be healthy, on another (and forgive me this one, I know how bad this sounds) I'm almost resentful that I spend so long yearning for this very thing and got nowhere, but now that I have a nice life, my selfish tranquility and occasional hedonism will be taken from me, and on yet another I'm terrified it's all some cosmic mistake and I'll have parenthood snatched away from me again because I don't deserve it. Mainly though I just have sore bosoms and an urge to lie down.
Hormones, eh? What a rollercoaster.

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 31/10/2006 13:23

Flabber - you'll be a great Mum!

Those late nights will be replaced by early nights, but you'll gain loads of cuddles, picnics, kiddies parties, making sandcastles by the sea etc and a heap of new friends with babies as well!

earthtomummy · 31/10/2006 13:27

Hi everyone. I'm 36.5 and will be 37 when baby arrives next July. Only just got my BFP. It will be my 4th - DS is 5.5, DD 3.5 and DD 1.5...Q. busy then! Wondering how long it will be before my body just gives up and my clothes don't fit!

sleeplessinhants · 31/10/2006 19:47

Hello, new to this thread (and still finding way round MN) I'm 37 and have DS 10mths thanks to IVF will be trying for second in mid november, currently having to take HRT as part of treatment, hormones all over the place! Congratulations to all those preggers and good luck to those still trying

OonaghBhuna · 01/11/2006 13:52

Hello I am new to this thread. I am 35 and expecting my second child on 3/01/07 however it looks like another c/s so it will probably be before the EDD, my DD was born in May 05 and I had a m/c in March o4.

jabberwocky · 03/11/2006 10:05

Welcome newbies! OonaghBhuna, I had an emergency section with ds, so this time around it is scheduled for 10 days ahead of my due date. I am sooo glad as it feels an eternity just waiting 4 1/2 more weeks as it is.

K1K2 · 04/11/2006 14:14

Hi Jabberwocky -so good to see all is going well for you ! Like you, just dipping in from time 2 time to check in with all at MN. Especially the oldies thread. Well, I don't feel that unique on being one of oldest of the older Mums (43). I am in good company with Stingray ( hi again!), Foxinb , Ginger Bear and Angielfie. Stingray, I'm trying to remember which thread we knew each other on, and I am guessing it was the due in Dec thread from my earlier preg (mc in May ) , the ironic thing too is you have the same EDD if things had gone well the first time... This time so far so good - 9 wks tomorrow. The sickness is getting me down - the worst time is early evening , just when I am rushing home from work by tube and train, trying to pick my son up from nursery. I have to stage my journey to find suitable secluded spots ( if I am not near a toilet) to puke!. This week was bad- 3 nights in a row! Now arming myself continually with a packet of ginger biscuits in my bag to stave off the constant feeling of nausea, and that seems to be doing the trick. Any other tips would be welcome ( I can't remember if I was as bad as this with DS1, propbably!)Hi again (and congrats!) also to some other familiar names, Piffle, and so sorry to Muckers and Lemonstartree , ... Chubley -probably not a good time to enquire but any result(?) as you were due yesterday. If not so far- the very best of luck to you Apologies for long thread by the way ( making up for lost time ) x

Rosybumpily · 04/11/2006 17:25

Oh no! thats awfull being mistaken for the granny! I usually get it wrong the other way round...calling people the mum when they are the granny.
Sometimes I wish I was the granny though, then I could play with the kids then hand them back and get some decent sleep!

sleepfinder · 05/11/2006 12:20

I'm 37 and just had my first.

The nanny we had help us out in the early weeks was 35 (though she looked a hell of a lot older) and as we were making our way home one afternoon she was mistaken for the mother and me as the nanny!

jabberwocky · 06/11/2006 06:15

K1K2, yes it was the December thread. I had a lot of nausea with this pg too and it did get me down a bit. But, luckily it went away after about 14 weeks. I never tried the preggo pops, or whatever they are called. I kind of wish now that I had. Anyway, they always say that MS is a good sign so you can keep that in mind along with feeling crap

angel1807 · 06/11/2006 22:20

Hi,out there. Im 29wks with 3rd child. Im 35 and my other two kids are 11&14. It may just be me but theres a big dif between being 18 and pg and 35 pg. I kept telling my hubby it'll be ok lets try for that little girl Ive always wanted. well I pray everything does turn out well, but it has been harder than the first two. I know everybody is different but for me it has harder on me. However the good side has been that we're better off (money wise)now than we were then, and thats a big difference to.

doobydoo · 06/11/2006 22:36

steggers · 07/11/2006 07:17

Hi, I'm new to MN so sorry if this does not make sense. I am 43 and about to have my 5th child by cs on 23rd nov. Like a lot of peole here, I have been very tired this pregnancy, and I have certainly noticed that I am not a spring chicken anymore. However apart from severe sickness until 20 weeks I have been fine (touchwood!) I am now counting down to 'b' day but I am terrified by all the scare stories about 'mature' mums and increased stillbirth risk. Is anyone else a neurotic bag of nerves??

doobydoo · 07/11/2006 08:27

Yes i am cpmpletely neurotic..about everything.Ds off on school trip today and i am worried[he is 7]Dp is away in UK this week[we are in Irish Republic].I don't like the family being fragmented. If i haven't felt the baby fluttering or moving for a while i start to become anxious. There has been lots of negative press re older mums but in my experience..i had my first child prem when i was 21 and she died at 3 weeks old so statistics can go either way. They don't really mean that much to me.
Try not to worry too much you are nearly there and Good Luck

jabberwocky · 07/11/2006 10:10

I think I'm much more neurotic this time around about wanting the baby to move a lot for reassurance. I keep reminding myself that he does have to sleep occasionally!

Greengirlforever · 07/11/2006 10:24

Hi Doobydoo! I've just been reminded about this thread by EllieK on our April one - it's all looking very busy!

Hello to all newbies.

Tiredness. I had DS1 at 27, DS2 at 37 and this one will be at 41. I am 17.5 weeks and I don't think the tiredness is going to stop at all !

Also feeling very rundown in general - like this pgcy is taking what little youth and goodness I had left! Hopefully will start to bloom any day now !

Sexonlegs · 07/11/2006 11:38

Helo, can I join as well?

Greengirlforever · 07/11/2006 14:01

Hi SoL - for some reason I thought you were one of the young gels! (Well, you still are next to me !) Welcome to the older but not very much wiser thread!

Sexonlegs · 07/11/2006 14:39

Hi GGF - no an old bag me! Well, not really! It is so difficult to tell from people's postings as to how old people are isn't it!
Where are you in Devon by the way? I lived in Exmouth for 10 years. x

Greengirlforever · 07/11/2006 17:08

I know Exmouth well, SoL! Shame you are not still there and we could add you to a Devon or Somerset meet-up....

K1K2 · 10/11/2006 11:23
