Hello,
I'm new to this but wondered if anybody was in or has been in the same boat. I had a miscarriage on 22th August at 5 and half weeks (first pregnancy). Me and my husband weren't advised not to try straight away after but weren't trying religiously or anything. After reading online I did a pregnancy test after 2 weeks to check all was gone, that was negative.
Today after feeling pretty rubbish all week I decided to do another test, clear blue digital came up pregnant 1-2weeks, am excited but completely terrified same is going to happen again. Going to ring docs tomorrow and see what they say. Would really appreciate some advice/stories. Thanks xxxx

This happened to me last June. Had my 2nd mc at 5 weeks..... Three weeks later was feeling pregnant again and thought - don't be silly but did a test and was positive. I was sure I'd lose it too...... But 6 month old DS asleep in my bed as I type Smile. Hope you get a happy ending too.

This happened to me, had a miscarriage earlier this year and didn't get another period. I'm almost 32 weeks with a boy Smile. Congratulations

Beau5y · 28/09/2014 19:50

Iwantvino - thank you keeping everything crossed it'll be ok. Did you have an early scan or did they just wait until 12 weeks. Hoping its a stinky bean Smile xx

This happened to me with my ds - I had a very early miscarriage, and was taking a month out of ttc to get over it, and lo and behold fell pregnant again immediately.
I hope all goes well and that you have an uneventful next 36 weeks! Good luck!

Beau5y · 28/09/2014 20:05

shroomboom I really do hope so, these positive messages are making me feel better Smile

Hi Beau5y,

I am in a similar situation and very confused. I had a suction removal of my 8 1/2 week angel 6 1/2 weeks ago. I bled for about 4-5 days and had a scan after a week which showed everything was going back to normal. I had a little bit of tissue left but not much and I think this came out a day later because I had bad cramps and past a final big clot before he bleeding finally subsided. We were due to go on holiday 4 weeks later so I took a pregnancy test to see if it was negative but it came back positive. I thought this could be still due to HCG hormones in my system, and then 4 days later (first day of our holiday) I had a lighter period on and off over 4 days so thought that I mustn't be pregnant. I had taken the second pregnancy test on holiday with us just incase, and 6 days after my period thought id take it to make sure it was negative, but I still had a very faint positive show up. Still confused at this point but thought that because it was fainter than the previous one it must still be some hcg in my system. I am now 14 days post period and I took another digital pregnancy test yesterday (out of curiosity) and amazingly it has come back positive at 1-2 weeks pregnant!!!!! I took another today and still the same! Surely this still can't be my hormone from the previous pregnancy because I've had a period and it's nearly 7 weeks post D&C? I'm not getting my hopes up because it could be still but I'm not sure what to think!!!! I have an appointment at the EPAU tomorrow at the miscarriage clinic following my last pregnancy and I was hoping they'd do some blood tests as this is our 3rd miscarriage now, but I keep getting period like twinges but it's pretty specific around my left and right sides.
I hope for us both to have rainbow babies but it will be a shock so soon after.
Can anyone give any advice to me also please?
Thanks guys xxx Smile

weebleswillwobble · 28/09/2014 20:12

So sorry to hear of your miscarriage Thanks

I had this exact same scenario, but unfortunately for me it was still residual pregnancy hormones. I had done a post mc test and got a negative, and then about 3 weeks later did another test and there was a faint but definitely there line. I can only assume I had binned the first test before a line had chan e top The EPU agreed to do a blood test, but sadly for us it was the case that it was residual HCG. I hope your outcome is better than mine - but just to be prepared for a possible not-so-good outcome, as I really suffered from what felt like a double bout of grief.

The upshot is that I now have a gorgeous 3 month old who was conceived pretty soon after. There are statistics to say that a pregnancy following a miscarriage has a higher chance of 'success' (I didn't know how better to word that - I hope it didn't come across insensitively). I really hope yours is a different outcome to mine - there's every chance it is a new pregnancy. All the best Smile

Pregnantagain7 · 28/09/2014 20:12

This happened to me twice both times they were successful one is now 3 and one is 1! Good luck and congratulations :)

weebleswillwobble · 28/09/2014 20:15

*had a chance to appear.

Beau5y · 28/09/2014 20:18

Hi Sarahlouisa1983 wow deffo similar to me. It definitely sounds to be like a new pregnancy, I would push for some blood tests tomorrow to confirm. I'm going to ring the docs tomorrow and hoping they will do a early scan or something before 12 weeks to confirm really not sure I could cope with worrying until then. I so hope we have rainbow babies would be amazing xxxx

This is just a roller coaster of emotions ladies!!!!! One minute your up, then you're devastated, then you think you have found hope again but you don't want to be too positive! Is it possible to have a period after 4 weeks and still have high enough hormones from your pervious miscarriage?

Beau5y · 28/09/2014 20:21

weebleswillwobble Didn't come across insensitive at all, I'm sorry you went through that I really hope it is a new pregnancy for me, going to push for a ASAP appointment at the docs. Congratulations on your 3 month old :-)xxxx

Hi beau5y,

Mohave you had any sort of period? That is what is confusing me. I've never had a negative on a test since my removal, only positives eh oh makes me think it's residual, but surely if I've bleed 4 weeks after (which I assume is my period) then all the old stuff would be gone????? This feels like a whirlwind! Don't want to get my hopes up incase, but we did start trying again 2 weeks after miscarriage and you never really know when you will ovulate again. I hope we both come back with positive stories. I will push for tests tomorrow and maybe a scan. But you know what they are like!!!!!

Beau5y · 28/09/2014 20:22

I think having a period in between means you've ovulated again, deff think it's a new pregnancy. Let me know how it goes tomorrow sarahlouisa xxx

Sarahlouisa1983 · 28/09/2014 20:23

I didn't know there was more chance of a successful pregnancy after a miscarriage. I thought it was the other way around because you may not have built up enough tissue to hold a pregnancy. But who knows! It's so easy to question everything!!!! Confused

Beau5y · 28/09/2014 20:23

I've had no sort of period, only the week of bleeding after the miscarriage. So I'm scared now! Keeping everything crossed xxxx

OP posts:
Sarahlouisa1983 · 28/09/2014 20:25

Yes I definitely will Bea5y.

I just worry because I still had a positive 4 days before my period, then 5 days after, and now 14 days after. Maybe I had residual before my period still left in me and now this is a new one.
I only ever hear of people who have never had a period since their miscarriage and then they find out they got pregnant again so I think you are in luck sweetie! I do so very hope so!!!!!Smile

nosleeptilever · 28/09/2014 20:36

This happened to my mom, and I'm the result. She didn't have a period between her mc and Getting pregnant with me.

I hope everything works out.

Beau5y · 28/09/2014 20:38

I hope it's good news for both of us. Whatever is happening I'm stupidly tired ha!! Off to bed. Let me know tomorrow, will be keeping anything crossed for you xxxx

Thanks Bea5y. Keep in touch. Good luck! X

Sarahlouisa1983 · 28/09/2014 20:42

Not offended at all weebleswillwobble. I think if you come to these sites you have to be prepared for the honest truth and that is what we want Smile

Pregnantagain7 · 28/09/2014 21:30

I never had any kind of period either time just a positive test five weeks after miscarriage :)

Iwantvino · 28/09/2014 21:33

Bea5y, I did have a scan at 10 weeks but I live abroad and it was private. So I'm not sure about the nhs.

Do you feel pregnant? I got good at spotting symptoms - hence testing only 3 weeks later.

I have my fingers crossed for all of you.
