I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

basgetti I hope youre feeling a bit better Now? Sorry you had to be admitted.
Agreed that we all deserve nice easy babies!

Got a diff med today prochlorperazine. I of course vomited it up immediately, after fainting in the doctors surgery. Was mortified. Lovely nurses looked after me though!
Hopefully better results with this though. .

elizabethsmum · 30/10/2014 22:51

Don't want to jinx those who are improving but so glad to hear it!

Meerka · 30/10/2014 22:55

dear god yes, easy births are more than deserved.

new are you okayish now? prochlor might help in conjunction with other meds. Though HG is just a shit, bastard, horrible condition that needs to fuck off forever.

Fraggle31 · 30/10/2014 22:55

I think I may have asked this before but can't remember - does anyone find that baby's movements makes them feel sick/nauseous? I'm nearly 32 weeks now so movements are very strong and every time he kicks or moves I really feel like I'm going to throw up...........I woke up at 3am last night and he had hiccups for 45 mins - I thought it was going to finish me off".......really can't enjoy movements at all

elizabethsmum · 30/10/2014 23:00

fraggle yes it was yet another unenjoyable part of pregnancy for me! I can honestly say I did not really enjoy a single day of either of my pregnancies (safe in the knowledge that I do not have to hang my head in shame on this thread) xx

Fraggle31 · 30/10/2014 23:04

Nice to not be the only one but sad I feel this way! All my friends go on about how movements were the best thing ever and how they really missed them once they'd given birth - I honestly don't think I will miss them one bit, they really make me feel grim

Newshoesplease · 31/10/2014 08:43

meerka

I kept some toast down yesterday which is progress I guess. I'm just a bit low. I have depression as it is and this isn't helping. It's a relief to not feel so alone though.
fraggle the movements once they get larger used to hurt me. It was just another reminder of how shit I am at pregnancy! I suppose the flip side being you know they're ok in there when they're doing a full rhythmic gymnastics routine inside your womb.

AuntieVenom · 31/10/2014 09:30

Can I join please?
I'm 16 weeks and have been on ondansetron since week 12. It was working well but in the last week I've started being sick again multiple times a day, even with the pills.

WillowHouse · 31/10/2014 09:32

(rant warning). I have had havr enough - i seriously cannot do this anymore. I have been in bed for two weeks, the cyclinze has stopped the vomiting but not the nasua and dizness. My eldest asked if i didn't like her anymore and thats why im in bed Sad . Im so hungry my tummy actual hurts but one or two mouthfuls and i have to lie flat and wait for the awful feeling of going to vomit passes. And has i have a high misscarriage risk all of this could be for nada.
But what finally broke me was my younger sis asking why everyone else manages to carry on in pregnancy. Cos their bodies don't fucking hate them Angry

basgetti · 31/10/2014 09:39

How is everyone today? I've woken up not feeling sick for the first time in a while, those fluids helped!

AuntieVenom, sounds miserable, due you think you might need some fluids?

Quick question, my growth scan showed baby is breech, I'm almost 33 weeks. Does anyone have any experience of likelihood of it turning? They said there is still time but I'm a bit worried, don't like the idea of a c section! x

basgetti · 31/10/2014 09:42

Sorry Willow x post. Can you try any other meds? I'm quite a fan of cyclizine, been on it since 8 weeks, but when I get worse I usually need to combine it with another drug too. Your sister sounds very insensitive, why do people insist on making stupid comments? Do they think they know more than the doctors, who certainly don't medicate and admit pregnant women to hospital just for fun! Grrr x

Newshoesplease · 31/10/2014 09:48

auntievenom
Sorry you're suffering! Are your doctors helpful? Are you managing to keep any food down?

willow I wish I could say something to make you feel better. It sounds like you're having a tough time. I wish I knew why some people sailed through pregnancy (me included with my first! )

I've just done something potentially stupid and told my dc. I have 2 excited boys who now have to wait a lifetime until june! Oh their faces made my day though.

I'm finding that my cravings are returning, but I know if I eat I'll puke.

basgetti I think it still has a fair chance of turning. Just what you needed to hear, eh?

AuntieVenom · 31/10/2014 09:49

Sorry to hear you're feeling so terrible Willow. I'm sorry your sister was so unfeeling.
Basgetti I'm not sure, I was able to keep a wee bit of fluid down during the day so I'll see how I go in the morning. I'm in New Zealand so it's currently night time here. If I'm still feeling rotten I'll call the doctor and see what they suggest.

AuntieVenom · 31/10/2014 09:51

Crossed post newshoes. Yes, I'm using an obstetrician here and they are absolutely fabulous. I've never had a problem getting medication or advice. Food wise, I'm keeping wee bits down now. Mainly bland stuff like a spoonful of mashed potatoes but it seems to be enough.

GetTheRedOut · 31/10/2014 10:15

But what finally broke me was my younger sis asking why everyone else manages to carry on in pregnancy. My older sister came round last night and had a good old laugh and joke about how when she was pregnant (12 yrs ago) she didn't have any morning sickness at all and she just let us think she did to milk it for the sympathy. I think she realised what an insensitive cow she was being when I burst into tears. Why do people say these things?

muddylettuce · 31/10/2014 10:58

bas dd was breach around 33 weeks I think, she turned in time, although was back to back. ouchie. There is still time.
willow it sucks. That's all I can say. I think it's very hard for people to understand how debilitating hg is unless they've had it. Sorry she was so insensitive.
Feeling ok today, managed trip to asda without hurling which is always good.
Dd is super clingy with me at the moment, if dp tries to do bedtime or even take her upstairs for a nappy change she screams blue murder, this morning I left her with him having breakfast while I nipped upstairs and she cried. It's ridiculous, he tried to do bedtime last night and she cried for half an hour, through bath, book, in the end I went in as we were worried she'd bring her bottle up. She's 18 months, we've been through separation anxiety months ago. I think it might be related to the fact I'm poorly. Anyone else having this problem?

elizabethsmum · 31/10/2014 10:58

auntie hi and welome to the thread. sorry you are so rough but glad you are getting good care. feel free to rant here day or night!

bas yes still time for baby to turn- so no need to panic just yet!

WillowHouse · 31/10/2014 11:29

thanks everyone. im back to the docs on mon so hopefully will get new drugs. My little sis is spoilt basically and cross as she was expecting a few days being waited on by my parents and now im here with the dcs.

Hi auntie hope you feel better. Good that you have an understanding doc.

WillowHouse · 31/10/2014 11:31

muddy my dds always get super clingy when im ill. Dd2 will only sleep in my bed at the moment.

LucindaE · 31/10/2014 11:52

AuntieVenoom Welcome, sorry you have to join the Thread That Nobody Wants To Need, but it's nice to have you and everyone's very nice and supportive on here. I gather you are monitoring your ketones with kestostix and if you're eating a little, they are probably not too bad?
basgetti So glad you feel better. I've heard they often do turn but am ignorant about this.
*GettheRedOut and WillowHouse I am really sorry about these insensitive sisters. I think suggesting that they read up little on Hyperemesis might help. It is bad enough to have this - but to have this sort of thing is just the last straw.
Meerka Ha, Ha, you took the words out of my mouth.
Fraggle and elizabethsmum That is such a shame about the movements being torment. I was just so licky that as my daughter was extremely active in the womb and when born was sleepless that I didn't suffer througout (except for bad redisual heartburn leading to an occasional vomit after week fifteen)or it would surely have killed me.
NewShoes I do recall Kalidasa saying that her cravings did help her eat a little. I hope yours turn out the same...
How are freckle Muddy Glitter and Everyone?
Apologies to anyone carelessly overlooked.
xx

willow im sorry it's so unbearable at the moment. Please do push for stronger meds. Sometimes it's a matter of getting through each 15 mins, or even the next few moments. I hope you can get some rest .... very hard when you have two little ones to look after :(

venom welcome. Might sucking on ice chips help with the liquids?

newshoes HG is awful for getting you down ... being stuck in the house is not at all helpful for mental healthiness, never mind feeling so utterly ill all the time! Have you spoken to your doctor about this at all?

muddy Im afraid our son was rather older, around 5, so he didn't get that clingy. It was difficult for him though of course. Does your little one know that you're having another baby?

Glitterbug21 · 31/10/2014 13:40

guys im now keeping down just enough water thanks to my new medication but i am still bringing up everything I eat, I haven't eaten properly in over 2 weeks and im wondering if that is safe or not?

Meerka · 31/10/2014 13:50

It's not usually too bad, glitter. The baby is actually pretty ruthless and takes what it needs from your body, from the stores. Which is exhausting for you, but the baby is generally ok.

The one thing that might be worth keeping an eye on is some of the vitamins can't be stored in the body and have to be replaced. When people go into hospital for HG here (in the netherlands) they usually put a bag of vitamins up on the IV stand as well as the hydration bag. Are you due back at the doctor? it is worth mentioning. It's not panic stations though, unlike if you can't keep any water down at all.

Glitterbug21 · 31/10/2014 13:55

meerka- thankyou, im still feeling pretty rubbish, can't even walk properly, im so hungry and tired but it just won't stay in and its hard to eat anyway but seeing as i am keeping fluids down I don't think I will get much more help medical wise.
