lady Congrats on your scan - it's so amazing to see that little heartbeat!

winoh Good luck with your scan on Tuesday and happy clothes shopping! I bought a top yesterday which wasn't maternity but will definitely work with a growing bump.

feather I know how you're feeling - I'm not showing yet but am feeling like such a chubster. I think it will be a relief when everybody knows and I have a proper bump!

Sorry you had a bit of a scare rp but it's reassuring that you got such good treatment. I hope that the antibiotics sort it.

kitten I know all about the howling boobs! Mine started really early on (tho I have DDs so prob to be expected). I bought a couple of cotton bras from M+S without underwire to sleep in, as well as some vest tops with the built in support. I find it's really helped. Can't sleep on my front any more though!

Thanks for the lovely welcome from everyone! Afm I'm generally feeling ok, just really tired. I haven't done any exercise for weeks and I'm feeling really bad because of it. Am going to drag myself out for a slow run along the river now. How do the rest of you manage to motivate yourself, I just don't have the energy in the week when I'm working.

rp The horrible comments were when I had a 10 week scan. Have since read that in Germany where I am, the drs are obliged to warn you of the high risks of being "over 35". Have calmed down a bit since discovering that, but it would have been nice to know the context at the time! Have got another scan tomorrow (12w exactly) to do the NT measurements, the bloods were done last time. Really hope everything will be ok.

ladybunnikins · 07/09/2014 16:53

Kitten I've bought some non-wired bras like Chloe today, looking forward to trying them tonight!
Good luck tomorrow with the scan Chloe.
I just can't face the gym at the moment, still constant tiredness and nausea, but only vomited twice so far.

RevoltingPeasant · 07/09/2014 21:09

I think my tits are malfunctioning or something as they are precisely the same as pre-pregnancy Hmm I am still wearing pre-pg bras and 19w tomorrow, and no soreness, increase in size or anything!

I suppose we're all different!

Yeah, lady on exercise I only really started that again in week 16 or 17. It feels great to be doing something again, but it wasn't right for my body before then. Don't push it, go for walks if you cano get fresh air and do so,e gentle stretches, and the nausea will probably pass in a few weeks and you'll be able to do much more.

Today we went sea swimming in a lovely estuary off a sandy beach and then say around reading the papers and dried off. Living in Devon is ace.....

win thinking of you for Tues!!! Not that you need it, but good luck! What time are you on for?

RevoltingPeasant · 07/09/2014 21:11

Oh and chloe good luck for your scan too! I'm sure everything will be fine but if you are worried after, do they offer Harmony where you are? I haven't had it but I think Feather did.

FeatherFeather11 · 08/09/2014 19:32

Sending Berrie power to you for tomorrow win! All will be great, I'm sure!

And to you chloe! If you have any Harmony questions, ask away. It was the best money I've spent on anything and totally worth it, but it's not for everyone.

FeatherFeather11 · 08/09/2014 20:07

Hand hold please ladies: weird, strong, periody cramps all the way home from work. Feeling ok now, and nothing unseemly in my pants, but I'm am freaking out. Are cramps normal at this stage? Argh!

RevoltingPeasant · 08/09/2014 20:32

Feather I think cramps can be normal throughout, but esp when you are tired or stressed. Get home, don't do any chores, lie down and have a simple dinner with zero prep or better, get DH to cook. Relax and hopefully they will go. You can take paracetamol if they hurt and if you get really worried ring NHS direct. The out of hours GP should be able to listen to the feral HB and reassure that it's going strong.

FeatherFeather11 · 08/09/2014 20:56

Thanks Rp. I just hit the panic button. I have had a really stressful day at work so that may have played a part, along with the mentalling about next Tuesday. Have had a shower and about to have Nutella on crumpets for tea (I had salad for lunch, so levels out in the end!). Will call nhs direct if it comes back or anything. Feral heartbeat made me chuckle btw.

How are you? How's everyone else doing?

winohhh · 08/09/2014 21:17

I also had harmony Chloe. Fingers crossed all well with your scan!

Feather, I agree with RP, I think cramping, pulling, stretching is all normal. Everything is getting bigger!

Thanks for the berry power for tomorrow! I'll let you know how if goes! It's not till later so I probably won't check in till the evening.

RevoltingPeasant · 08/09/2014 22:06

Blush I'm sure your baby is perfectly civilised!

When I had my nastiest day of bleeding back in week 6, it was the same day I'd had a massive 200mile round trip to a big meeting followed by a dinner meeting. My GP said it was my body's way of saying I was overdoing it. Today I had to get up at half five, get a train to London (3 hours away) do a board meeting, and train back. I was SO exhausted sitting in Paddington waiting for the train home! As I walked up my street I started getting sharp cramps. I lay on the floor in the hall for a bit when I got in and did back stretches. Touch wood they are all gone now. I really think it is stress and we are in a higher stress category than most pg women because of our different histories. Just be kind to yourself and if it starts getting too much at work, try and go home or distract from the stress Flowers

Win excited and nervous for you!

yorkiebilb · 08/09/2014 22:33

feather I've had menstrual type cramps on and off throughout. My last lot were on Sat at 31 weeks. I worry every time as mine have lasted a day or so but have been reassured that it's perfectly normal. I try and drink more water as I read that dehydration can sometimes cause them as well as gas, growing pains, ibs...the list goes on! I was told to only worry if they were particularly bad. Hope that helps

yorkiebilb · 08/09/2014 22:48

Oh and congrats lady on your scan! Really chuffed for you Grin

FeatherFeather11 · 09/09/2014 07:58

Thanks for all the reassurance lovelies. It seems to have passed and I really need to chill the hell out.

rp your schedule sounds really full on. Is there any way of it being less so?

Go win! Will check in tonight for your (great) news.

Happy Tuesday all! Anyone got holidays booked? I'm on the countdown - away for two weeks in Cyprus from Sept 20!

RevoltingPeasant · 09/09/2014 17:53

ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH.

Feeling ranty/ scared.

So remember I said the other day that over the weekend, I'd gone to the out of hours GP and he'd prescribed antibiotics for a budding kidney infection?

Well, today I was ringing the antenatal clinic as I'd a missed call from them, and as I was talking to a MW I've seen at the clinic and also spoken to a time or two, so I updated her on the OOH GP, being put on ABs etc. So she looked up my urine test results and they were CLEAR! As in, I don't have an infection and shouldn't be on ABs at all.

Added to which, when I said what kind I was on (co-amoxiclav) she said 'Oooh we don't normally prescribe those for pregnant women!' Apparently they are linked to gut disorders in pre term babies :(

Obviously this is a remote risk as I'm unlikely to have a pre term baby - also a link is not the same as a certainty even if the dino did come early - and also she said loads of women used to take these in pg and were fine, it's just they tend not to use them these days.

But it will be okay, right? I don't know what that GP was thinking! Really cross :( Before taking ANYTHING else during this pg, I am going to check with a MW! I only took them Sat/ Sun/ Mon and one dose this morning, so it's unlikely to have caused real harm, right? (The full prescription was for a fortnight Shock )

I have tried so hard to live as cleanly as possible this pg and I'm a bit afraid of the consequences of this. But. Only 3.5 days - unlikely to be lasting harm - and anyhow the dino probably won't be premature.

Confused

win bumping for your news! FX everything was okay; I know you must have felt really nervous this morning! I know I will next week.

winohhh · 09/09/2014 18:38

That would make me so angry RP!! I think you are right, you're very unlikely to have caused any damage with the small amount you took, and even if you'd taken the full course the chances are dino would be fine.

Just back from the scan. Mostly good, baby doing well, all measurements fine. They said I had a marginal cord insertion, which I think means the umbilical cord is attached to the side rather than middle of the placenta. She said it was fine, not to worry, don't google, but booked us in for a follow up scan at 28 weeks. She didn't really explain the risks. Any of you more experienced berries know anything about this? Of course I'm going to google!! The worry never ends hey.

RevoltingPeasant · 09/09/2014 20:00

Oh win super big congrats Grin

I have so many questions!

Did you get to see your baby on screen like the 12w one? Have heard 20w is less chatty and more serious!

Did you find out the sex?

Did you get a pic?

Was DH there? How did he react?

But....most importantly....you're there, halfway and no big issues and it will all work out! Well done you.

Bunnygirlie · 09/09/2014 21:22

win so pleased your scan went well, I'm afraid I've not heard of the cord thing! perhaps speak to midwife for advice? I will ask the other berries too.

RP omg you so have to complain to your docs, I am grrrrrr on your behalf!

P.s. My boobs haven't changed much either. I was looking forward to getting some for a change. I wore normal bra until quite recently when I got measured and I went from 34 to 36 but stayed in same cup!

feather very jealous of your holibob!

lady so pleased your scan went well!

OP posts:
FeatherFeather11 · 09/09/2014 22:22

win yayaaaaaaa! Congratulations! Half way there now and all is good. So pleased for you. Not sure about the umbilical cord/placenta issue, but if it was a problem they would have said, so don't fret too much. No googling! Flowers

rp that's outrageous. I can't blv they put you on those drugs. Just goes to show how little gps know about pregnancy. All the gear and no idea! 3 doses won't have done any harm so please don't worry. In times like these think of all the pregnant women who drink and smoke the whole way through and somehow give birth to healthy babies. DINO will be perfect, I'm sure. Don't beat yourself up about the antibiotics, but do file a complaint if you can be bothered.

I'm so tired. Just got home from work. Think I need to pass out. Cramps still happening but I'm taking all your advice and not allowing it to freak me out.

bunny! Remind me again when you're due? My boobs are about the same too btw but my areolas look like super moons - bloody huge all of a sudden! Blush

yorkiebilb · 10/09/2014 07:15

win woo hoo that all was well on the scan. I can understand your worry about the cord but please please try to keep telling yourself that if it was something major to be concerned about they would have got you back in much sooner and told you there and then that it was a problem. Try to keep on telling yourself that if that helps.

rp sorry the docs are causing you unnecessary stress. That would make me so angry too and you should complain. Agree with the others you took them for such a short amount of time to have any problems. Can you speak to the midwife again for some reassurance?

feather hope the cramps have disappeared again now but as I said before they are completely normal unless they get increasingly bad. As I said before mine used to last up to 2/3 days at a time, go away and then come back a week or so later.

RevoltingPeasant · 10/09/2014 17:30

Thanks for all the sympathy everyone :) Have calmed down a bit!

I am seeing the consultant again at 22 weeks (19+2 today) so will leave it till then to ask about any potential damage - after all, it won't get any worse in the meantime!

Feather when is your 20w scan again? I know you said, but have forgotten Blush

chloechloe · 10/09/2014 19:21

Hey ladies!

feather like the others have said, cramps are normal throughout and nothing to worry about on their own. I had them for the first time this week for an entire day. Fortunately I had my appt that evening and the dr said it's normal - basically it's the uterus growing and the ligaments supporting it stretching. Bizarrely the pains seem to be making me feel sick as well. Grr. Apparently magnesium can help. My MW prescribed me 2 x 150mg a day but the dr said I can add another one to help with the pains.

rp Am glad that you're feeling calmer after that spectacular balls up. I agree with the others that it's really unlikely to have any effect - worrying about it won't help things. Like you say, try and forget about it until you can discuss it at your next appt.

wino Great news about your scan. Can't help re the cord thing, but I would definitely be consulting Dr Google as well!

Thanks for all the good luck wishes. 12w scan went well. Got to see the bean for ages on screen as it took a while to get him in the right place for the NT measurement. The dr had to keep waking him up (by jiggling the camera around inside me! Blush ) We saw his little hands tho and everything, totally surreal! Still waiting for the results, but the dr said she thought it would all be ok based on what she'd seen. FX.

FeatherFeather11 · 10/09/2014 20:08

That's great news chloe! Blush re jiggling the dildocam about!! And you keep referring to 'he'....? Grin

rp scan is on Tuesday and I am absolutely bricking it. Going in for my diabetes bloods in the morning, which I feel neither here not there about. When's your scan? Next Thursday?

winohhh · 10/09/2014 20:55

Thanks for the congrats berries! Trying not to worry about the cord thing. Not heard back from the midwife yet do fingers crossed I hear from her tomorrow.

I went out and bought maternity clothes today! Finally bit the bullet! I could only really find any in h and m. Any of you guys had any good finds?

We did get to see the baby on the screen RP, very cute! DH was there and very excited and relieved. He's much less worried about the cord thing than me. We got photos. They also showed us some 3d images which was weird!

Half way now! I can't believe it!

winohhh · 10/09/2014 20:56

Ooh Chloe, congrats on your scan! That's a massive mile stone! Let us know how your diabetes test goes feather. I have mine in a few weeks.

RevoltingPeasant · 10/09/2014 21:10

Feather mine is a week Friday, on the 19th. Feeling reasonably calm now but I know I will need hand holds this time next week! DH and I are planning to go for a swim and a coffee first so we feel more relaxed.

I think you just need to bear in mind that all the conditions that are really serious that they are testing for now are fairly rare. It is not the same as going for a 6w reassurance scan where realistically your chances are worse. You have come this far and will keep going!

Win I was naughty and googled :) it sounds like it is generally not serious.

Chloe exciting about your scan! Did you have that whole OMG there's a person with arms and legs in there moment? Grin

So does that mean lady and Chloe are officially in the copter now? New list anyone?????
