Ooh congrats chloe! Great news

bunny is the list queen!

FeatherFeather11 · 10/09/2014 22:10

Btw - we had a talk on this thread about hair growth and a lot of you mentioned that you noticed it slowed down. Well, I seem to be hairier than ever! I shaved my legs this morning and I have proper stubble now. And don't even get me started on my upper lip. Eurgh! Confused

RevoltingPeasant · 11/09/2014 14:18

Hmmm guys, I just felt a little 'muscle spasm' a few inches below my belly button..................

?????

winohhh · 11/09/2014 16:49

Ooh RP!! Is this baby movement??? I'm still not sure what I'm feeling in there!! Thanks for googling on my behalf RP! I also googled... It doesn't even look like something every hospital checks, so can't be that serious right??! My midwife still hasn't called me back though. Tut tut!

RevoltingPeasant · 11/09/2014 17:42

Might be! Or just my imagination Confused I wonder, though! I'm 19+3 so it's about the right time.

Yeah, the marginal cord wotsit seems like a not-uncommon and not-dreadfully-serious condition. From what I could see, they want to scan later as it's possible but not likely that baby will receive fewer nutrients through the placenta and I think it said C-sections are a bit riskier. But it's definitely not a panic-making condition I don't think :)

On the plus side, it may mean you get more scans/ attention which can only be reassuring!

chloechloe · 11/09/2014 20:53

Good luck for your scan next week feather Yeah I'm convinced the bump is a he. DH's family only produces male offspring! In the last 2 generations with 9 children, only #9 was a girl! I know the most important thing is to have a healthy baby blah blah but I want a girl! Surely the ICSI has reset the odds!?

RP Spot on! The 12w scan was weird as it actually looked like a proper little person rather than the splodge of the last scans! Exciting times for you if the baby is moving already! One of my friends said it felt like bubbles bursting!?

winoh Sounds like the cord thing isn't anything to majorly worry about (easier said than done!) Re clothes. I have already been mooching online and asos maternity has nice stuff at reasonable prices. Some say it's great and really rave about it while others say the quality isn't that great. I guess it depends on what you order as there is brand and own brand. Still I'm wondering whether to buy a load of stuff and send it back if needed.

I broke the news to my boss today as I'm away at a big work conference next week and am sure the gossip mill will start if I don't drink. She was really pleased and totally amazing, saying I should come in late / go home early / work from home if I need to. As well as quizzing me to make sure I'm taking the right vitamins, have got a good doctor and then ticking me off about my heels!

yorkiebilb · 11/09/2014 23:02

chloe I've lived in asos maternity dresses and leggings. I thought they are great. I originally ordered a load of new look stuff but thought the quality was rubbish so sent it back! Asos for me all the way!

RevoltingPeasant · 11/09/2014 23:07

I'm in New Look stuff but agree it's variable. Some stuff, mostly tops, is nice, but trousers less so! I have been gifted stuff from H&M Mama range and Next maternity range and both are nice.

FeatherFeather11 · 12/09/2014 08:22

I just want to plug how amazing the Topshop maternity jeans are. SO comfy and brilliant quality. I'm living in them at the moment.

Soooooo, went to do my bloods for the glucose test yesterday and receptionist came up to me while I was waiting my turn to say I'd missed my 16 week appointment with the midwife and that she'd like to see me now. Not sure how that happened, but anyway, it was a relief to hear the bean's heartbeat on the Doppler and to share my ridiculous list of concerns (early onset pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, an mmc, etc - all self diagnosed via dr google, of course). She suggested mindfulness meditation, and let me listen to the baby's heartbeat for ages and generally calmed me down a bit.

chloe great your boss was such a doll. Makes the whole thing so much less stressful when your superior at work "gets it".

rp movements! Yay! I've had a couple of things happen but to be honest I'm pretty sure it's trapped wind... Grin

Bunnygirlie · 12/09/2014 08:59

Morning, sorry I'm not popping in as much, everything is too much effort at this stage.

RP I'm 37w today, not sure how that happened!!!

I started feeling flutters just before 20w scan, I dismissed them as wind or food settling though until after the scan, it's hard to work out when you start feeling movements as everyone describes them differently. To me they felt like my bump was a big fish bowl and the fishes tail would brush against the side now and again (now you think I'm weird don't you lol)

Yay to a good scan Chloe do you have a due date? Welcome to the berries, I had ICSI too!

I have an updated list ready to go, just need due dates for Win and Chloe. lady have they given you one yet? Mine was working out by FC based on EC and they stuck with it at my scans.

ladybunnikins · 12/09/2014 10:27

Bunny full-term, wow! How did you find NCT? I've registered for the buying-friends aspect.
I had my first MW appt this week, it was fine. When she found out I was an obstetric anaesthetist she predicted correctly that I'll be asking for an epidural! I'm actually also thinking of signing up to a hypnobirthing course because of the fears I have about childbirth based on what I've seen. I know this is all very premature at the moment but I seem to spend a lot of time thinking about it, that and childcare when I go back to work!
I think my due date is April 18th, MW has put April 10th because she's going on LMP, so I'll wait for the dating scan to confirm it.

winohhh · 12/09/2014 13:32

My due date is jan 23rd bunny. Finally trying to embrace the pregnancy!

I might check out asos maternity, and topshop.

Yay for a heartbeat feather. Amazing! Glad the mid wife could reassure you. How was the gtt in the end?

Bunny I can't believe you're 37 weeks!! Hope you're holding up ok.

Lady, we've just signed up for nct too. No idea what to expect really!!

winohhh · 12/09/2014 17:05

I can't stop eating!!!

RevoltingPeasant · 12/09/2014 17:20

Bunny don't know if it was movement or not! Maybe?? To me, it felt like my uterus is a bowl with someone doing very faint Morse code on the inside of it. Like, tap tap, tap tap. But it's only happened once or twice so might be a genuine muscle spasm!

So you're really on the home stretch now though Grin

Feather good for you! Yeah, looking back I can't remember you posting about the 16w check and it ought to have been the same time as mine, ish, as we're so close. Good you know there is a HB!

lady didn't know you were an obstetric anaesthetist specifically. It's so funny how our fears/ concerns shape what kind of birth we think we want: I am totally anti-epidural on the cascade-of-intervention grounds, as the thing which terrifies me most is having an instrumental delivery and being all torn up inside, or worse, the baby's head damaged. What's the betting we each end up having "each other's" birth????? Grin

win so 21w now, right? So that is 16w to go till term: not too shabby!

ladybunnikins · 13/09/2014 07:30

RP that's what terrifies me as well but at least with an epidural I won't feel it happening, or the stitching up afterwards!

FeatherFeather11 · 13/09/2014 10:07

I'm in two minds about The Birth: part of me wants to do the woo-natural-hypno-birth and the other is going 'GIVE ME ALL THE DRUGS!' - I figure I'll just go with the flow and see what happens.

rp yes, I remember wondering (and probs saying on here) why I didn't get a 16w midwife appointment. Think it was more down to me not paying attention/being overwhelmed than hospital incompetence. Must try harder! Grin

Standing outside the community yoga centre dying for a wee and it's not open yet. Turned up 30 mins early thinking it was a 10am start. Confused

Happy weekend all!

RevoltingPeasant · 13/09/2014 15:06

Just came back from a walk which unexpectedly involved running up a very steep Devon field to get away from some cows. A few weeks ago I would scarcely have noticed, now I'm wheezing Hmm

FeatherFeather11 · 13/09/2014 20:50

rp oh, wow. Running. I remember that. *stares out into the middle distance reminiscing of fitter days...I got totally puffed out walking up the stairs to my bedroom the other day. Apparently it's because our lungs are all squished up and over to the side, making room for the humans growing inside us.

Has anyone else been a little weirded out by the thought that there is another person swimming about in our bellies recently? I think it's finally hitting me. Shock

RevoltingPeasant · 13/09/2014 22:09

Yes, I didn't think I could run either, but I am more scared of cows than of running, as it turns out.....

I know, actual people with arms and legs, moving on their own.

PuppyMummy · 14/09/2014 09:40

hello berries!

just popping in to see if everyone is ok?!

bunny 37 weeks, how exciting!

Nice to see the thread full again!

puplet is 14 weeks now and very chatty! He is starting to roll over which is very exciting!

Fingers crossed for straightforward births for you all! Smile

FeatherFeather11 · 14/09/2014 10:54

Umm, so I just spotted my back fat as I got out of the shower. Shock Hmm Shock

chloechloe · 14/09/2014 18:35

Hey ladies!

Wow 37w bunny. Are you sick of hearing "Oooooohhhhh not long to go now!" My EDD is 23 March (hopefully a stubborn aries just like me!)

What a scarily responsible job you have lady Your comments have given me some food for thought. The thought of having an epidural scares me more than the thought of the pain. I'm a total controlfreak and am terrified of the prospect of not being able to stand up or walk during childbirth. I definitely need to do some more research though as obvs there are plenty of options nowadays. Since getting pregnant I've learnt lots of things I was in blissful ignorance of previously!

rp and feather Am glad I'm not the only one getting out of breath, good to know there's an explanation for it. Then again at 13w surely my lungs can't be getting squished yet!?

I am really struggling at the moment, am totally exhausted and also getting near constant headaches every day. May go back to my acu lady and see if she can help.

Am away with work at the mo and have to go out for dinner tonight with big boss, but probably not until 9ish! I have absolutely no idea how I will keep my eyes open!

ladybunnikins · 14/09/2014 18:48

For anybody who does want more information about the pain relief options available, this website www.labourpains.com is written by the obstetric anaesthetists' association. (There's also information about anaesthesia for caesarean section for anybody who ends up having to go down that route.)

RevoltingPeasant · 14/09/2014 21:16

Hell and the devil!!! I ended up walking through a field of bullock calves and being chased AGAIN today. I mean, even in Devon, what are the chances? Luckily it was just one and stopped when we stuck our hands out and said no loudly, but it is so scary when they come at you with their heads down.

I had a large traditional pasty for lunch as revenge Grin

We were heading to the finish line of the Dart 10k which is a 10k swim down the River Dart and my sister and her partner were doing it. I seriously felt pretty much as tired as they seemed, just from walking about 4 miles to meet them.

Have a massive day tomorrow, boss's boss picking me up at 7.30 and going to drive 2.5 hours trying not to be sick and then present at a conference. Slightly convinced my presentation is shit and will embarrass boss but way too tired to work on it further. Beddddd...........
