Has labour started??

I'm currently 40+3 had a sweep 4 days ago, show the following day and today I have period type pains, tummy is tight but not sore, and isn't tightening then relaxing. Could this be early labour?? This is 2nd baby but 1st was induced.

Amy progress? I was about to post the exact same symptoms five mins after you this morning so was watching the responses with interest!
I think my period type pains are getting stronger but still nothing I could call a contraction and baby's head doesn't feel very engaged.. Am out for a walk at the mo to see if that does anything... Will keep my fingers crossed for you!

No progress :( tried to have a sleep, but cramps could still be felt, more continuous than coming and going, pottered about the house and taken some paracetamol going to try another snooze as I was awake last night between 2-4am.

Maybe tomorrow's sweep will give it a real kick start it needs. Hope your walk works, when everyone is home I'll sit on my ball and see if that helps.

Bugger! Came back from my walk still the same but generally knackered. Went home. Meant to rest on the birth ball but somehow ended up lying down in bed instead. Slept for two hours!!
Woke up still tired, stiff all over and now cold but tummy cramps have gone right off
Ah well, on the plus side I'm nice and hungry for my tea now - have been feeling a bit sicky the rest of the day..

Sounds incredibly likely that the sweep tomorrow will do the trick. Your body's obviously gearing up for action! Even if you do get to induction it shouldn't be quite as difficult as you're not starting from scratch. Fingers still crossed!!

I'm so glad to see others experiencing this! I thought labour would just start, I would know, and that would be it. But I've had 3 nights of on/off contractions, feeling sick and bowel movements, I'm hoping it's gearing up for the off tonight! Getting a bit bored of not sleeping because of cramping!

Let's hope tonight is it ladies :)

How are you doing ladies?? Nothing happening at this end other than a sleepless night, midwife calling this morning to make sure I'm still at home and then it's sweep time. Although the experience on Monday was horrid, I just want it to get things started properly. Fingers crossed it works :)

Nope! Had a fairly unpleasant sweaty, crampy night last night. Was a bit naughty and took Nytol at 1am.. Not sure that's allowed but I got a
good few hours sleep after. Am having more bother from restless legs and aching bum muscles than I am from my back or tummy now Think I might have got a bit carried away with the walking yesterday..
Soo.. I don't think I'll be the first of us to pop! Hope the sweep does the trick frogem and three days sounds plenty Hannah! Let's hope thinks ramp up today!

Had sweep at 11am, and back ache has really kicked in over the last hour, shooting up my back with tightening of tummy. Midwife could feel head, so fingers crossed these tightenings become regular and stronger. Been up since 4am so going to try and have a snooze.

Oh buttercup I wish is thought of taking something stronger than milk & a digestive, because it didn't work :(

That does sound like things are moving along! I had a night of period pain again, with nothing more! All stopped now, again... was going to ring the midwife, but having googled it, it seems this happens to lots of women, just everything limbering up! 39 weeks today, so at least I know at some point soon I will have a baby! Which after 9 months doesn't seem so long!!

Saying that, I still might try and use the sure fire way of getting labour started today, don't know when we'll be able to again!

Everything settled by bedtime....... :( I could cry :( sleepless nights take a while different meaning in a few days but right now I'd kill for some proper sleep. Looks like induction tomorrow will go ahead as planned :( really hoping nature takes it's course over the rest of the day

Awe Hannah hope it works for you, OH away to work so no chance of that here. Maybe a curry and 12 pineapples may be in order. I drank so much RLT yesterday I felt like I was going to explode!! Hope it works 40+5 today and super fed up :(

Noo!! These babies are obviously determined to abuse our bodies for a little bit longer! I haven't had any more pains since Friday so it looks like that was a one off
Frogem, there's still a day to go.. I've got a funny feeling you might just get going in the nick of time. My cousin had a baby recently, she went in to be induced and her waters broke pretty much as she stepped through the hospital doors! Either way, good luck tomorrow and at least you won't be pregnant any more in a couple of days

It sounds terrible no longer wanting to be pregnant especially as this is defiantly the last, but I really have had enough. I'm sure as soon as baby born I will miss my bump and probably get far less sleep, esp with 17mth old at home too.

Awe I so hope it happens naturally, back on the RLT today and and early night - we live an hour away from the hospital so have to leave by 7am at the latest tomorrow. It's going to be a long day!!

Well that's good news, 2 whole days for it to happen naturally, I bet it will :)

Romantic time with hubby and a 3 mile walk today, and nothing as yet! More period pains though today, so at least my body is still preparing!

Joining in! It must be the bloody weather!! Also due in 3 days and having on/off period pains. Sweep booked for due date Wednesday and fed up! Ds was here by now, ten days early! But not this little critter, instead my ribs are on fire and I am one moody cow!

Ha ha scuttlemum I know that feeling!! Look at me the wrong way and I'm likely to kill!!

No more progress at this end, feeling deflated, called midwife to advise of change in date so hoping they offer me a 3rd sweep tomorrow and I can go naturally.

Well if it's any consolation I woke for two hours with acute rib pain lat night and cried! How idiotic is that?! Iv spent most of today teary, what is wrong with me?! Best of luck with sweep :)
