fennel - mm yes the summer school was a liitle mmm interesting !! to say the least , if only I had known about these sort of things before ! , I went on a 12 hour 'cultural ' walk around manchester ha ha
I can not wear any of dh clothes , he is only 9 1/2 stone ! I now have near on 3 stone over him , handy for fights over the remote tee hee

MrsDoolittle · 01/04/2004 14:39

I sat on dh's knee yesterday - nearly broke his legs!! Apparently.

Debbiethemum · 01/04/2004 15:02

Is it just me that has grown out of my maternity clothes? I have over the bump trousers that won't go that far so bag rather attractively around my hips. Also tops that should reach below my bump and don't get as far as my belly button!!!
I suppose I should be grateful that my tummy is now stretched so tight that there is no hint of flab.

Also pondering what I should wear home from hospital. Might pack a pair of non pregnancy trousers and top and wear either that or what I turn up in - lets see what fits. This is baby no2 so I should remember how big I was last time I left hospital.

motherinferior · 01/04/2004 15:45

I was actually thinking of not optimistically packing your slinky pre-pregnancy jeans.

I'd personally go for something as close to tracky or PJ bottoms as possible, bearing in mind the various delightful things that can assail a lady's undercarriage during delivery. (Also pack spare Big Pants in case of emergency C-section - not that I ever did.) I just remember staggering around after giving birth to dd1 feeling rather winded and knackered, and really not up to wearing anything remotely demanding.

MrsDoolittle · 01/04/2004 16:56

This all makes sense Motherinferior. Maybe I'll come home in my sloppy cords? I am just not sure how I should expect my tummy to feel. Should it be really wobbly or just not as tight? I don't have any draw string trousers and I am desperate not to have to wear my tracky bums again. Maybe I should get a new pair.... I can't really, I can't face the shops.... Ho hum what's a girl to do?

Fennel · 01/04/2004 17:04

Mrs D,

your stomach will definitely be very wobbly and large. that's for sure. there will be a surprising amount of it considering the baby is no longer in there. Jeans of any kind are likely to be depressing.
thinking positively, you will be so radiant that you might not care.
When my sister saw photos of me just after the birth of dd1, she said "I've never seen you look so bad"! After dd2, I only let them take photos of dp and the baby, not of me.

I give up. I'm just not gonna make myself look gorgeous am I?
So much for the hoarding of special creams, body wash, face wash, body lotion and body sprays in little bottles for my trip into hospital. I was soooo looking forward to feeling pregnant anymore!

MrsDoolittle · 01/04/2004 17:15

Ooops 'not' feeling pregnant - I meant!

dolbear · 01/04/2004 17:18

mmm , nice !
i ma also coming out of my mat clothes , have now just given up completeley , just been to john lewis in my tracky bums and a t-shirt with under construction on it , don't care anymore
midwif says i am 3/5s down , does that mean i have 2 or 3 5s to go ? stupid question I read somewhere that your should be the same as 5 months when u come out of hopital

bea · 01/04/2004 17:41

posting on here on behalf of Dot1... sorry no news yet! she can't log on due to the probs they're having with the phone lines in manchester!so she's frustrated at not being able to keep an eye on the postings on this thread.

due date come and gone... but she's keeping fingers crossed that it will all be over soon!

emmagee · 01/04/2004 17:51

Definately something comfortable for when you come out of hospital. Also I lived in men's t-shirt-fabric boxers after my c-section - girls' knickers sat right across my scar, VERY painful! Who cares what we look like, you'll have the baby you've been desperate to see for weeks/months, you'll be tired, emotional and just thrilled to be going home to your own bed/bath/bosom of your family! Style and sexiness can wait.

Lesley76 · 01/04/2004 20:11

Thanks everyone for the advice.I will go for the baggy joggers to go over my enormous flabby jelly belly. Emmagee, you sound like a woman after my own heart!!!

Unfortunately my Dh is quite .........em....how shall i put it........well built so I won't fit any of his clothing, let alone his underwear. On the other hand, at least i willl never ever ever get heavier than him, no matter how pregnant i get.

I should point out that this has not stopped him telling me that i look like Nellie the elephant. FYI I am 5'5', eight and a half stone unpregnant and now ten and a quarter stone at nearly 38 weeks!!!

MrsDoolittle · 01/04/2004 22:37

Dot1 has not had her baby yet, so it's only been Udar so far. Who's next? I'm due Saturday. Although at the rate we're going it won't be til Easter or after. Anyone else?

Lesley76 · 01/04/2004 22:56

I think Dot1 is due next. I've supposedly got another two weeks, although as you know I have no signs at all .Except todays onset of the poo thing. Which Mrs D has now had for over a week so who knows.........

Fennel had some signs last week i think, so my money's on her or Dot being next

Chuffed · 01/04/2004 23:14

Well it is udar here but as I can't be called the translation to 'bump' anymore I have changed my nickname.
Jaimee and I came home this afternoon and are doing well. It sure is different being home than in hospital that's for sure.
Have worked out now why the baby didn't drop and maybe why I didn't have a waddle even up to the hospital between labour pains - but will pop that on the childbirth thread now.
Haven't had a chance to read through the threads since getting back but might find the time to do so tomorrow.
Good luck to everybody, may everything go smoothly for all if you go into labour before I get a chance to get back on and communicate.
PS: I wore trackies home. Am still surprised how large my bump is still (day 4 post birth) and I think I am the same size as I was at about 30 weeks pregnant but the bump is soft.

Fennel · 02/04/2004 09:16

Udar/chuffed, welcome back to Mumsnet, have already been over to the birth announcements thread to read the story. but where's the bit about why the baby didn't drop?

hope it's going well at home.

I wouldn't place any money on me being next, btw, I have had no signs for nearly a week now. A friend just told me how with her 2nd she had contractions which she thought were early labour a whole 4 weeks before her ds was born.

am gearing up for a weekend of rampant sex to hurry things along. have of course absolutely no urge but dp is very keen!

dot1 · 02/04/2004 10:14

Hello! I'm back - have really missed reading and posting on this thread! Fortunately Manchester seems to be sorting itself out now. Unfortunately, this flipping baby's still not coming out to play..!

I had an ante natal yesterday and my blood pressure's raised - usually 100/70 and is now 120/90, so I've got to go in to the day unit today for monitoring - if it stays high they might induce me.... Am trying not to worry, and hopefully it'll be down today and they'll send me home. As much as I want this baby out, I don't really want to be induced - not how I imagined it happening. But the good news is it's fully engaged and has turned round to a good position - hurrah!

Other than that, just more of the same - regular strong Braxton Hicks, particularly at night, but nothing more exciting!

If they let me out I'll post later!

Good luck everyone!!

Lesley76 · 02/04/2004 10:16

Congratulations Chuffed and welcome Jamiee!

Good luck with the plans for the weekend Fennel. I've tried this with no luck so far but maybe I'm a bit early. Suppose it also depends on your definition of rampant, which is a whole other subject.......!!!!

Lucy and Emma - aren't you due soon? And what about Dot1? What's happening with you Mrs D? I think HD, HMC and i are all due in a couple of weeks and LauraKim at the end of the month - is that right? Sorry if I've missed anyone.

Lesley76 · 02/04/2004 10:18

Oops sorry Dot, posts crossed. Good luck at the day unit. Thats enough to put anyone's BP up, IMHO!! How is your wee boy coping with all this ?

M2T · 02/04/2004 10:24

Dot1 - I don't think they will induce unless it stays up for a few days..... was there protein in your Urine? I had that at 37 wks last time around and coupled with my BP going up quite dramatically they admitted me to hospital. They kept me in for 3 days.... sent me home for 2.... back in for 3, but this time I was adament that the next time they sent me home the baby would be in a car seat! And he was after lots of RLT and bouncing on a birthing ball to bring on labour!!
I was a week early. They weren't that keen to induce me until after my due date, but then again every Consultant is different.

After my time in antenatal ward, bored senseless I was BEGGING them to induce me!

MrsDoolittle · 02/04/2004 11:09

Morning Everyone,
Big congratulations Udar/Chuffed!!! And Jamiee!:0
Can't wait til I'm there too
I am feeling slightly different today, but maybe that's wishful thinking. I have only been up two hours, but I have felt like I need the loo for the entire time. It may be wishful thinking but I was really quite achy when I got up today and I was feeling the old-fashioned period pain.
Dh told me I wasn't allowed to drop today as he wasn't ready - "it's not due til tomorrow!!", he has also timetabled a weekend of rampant sex (which may explain why he doesn't want me to drop today!)Infact he has just sent me an e-mail with a list of jobs! Including baking a carrot cake!!!! The Cheek!! I have reminded him of my fragile state this morning. Teeee heeee!

Lesley76 · 02/04/2004 11:45

Good luck Mrs D - sounds promising - the feeling different I mean. To be honest, i think that if Dh is getting a weekend of rampant sex, the least he can do is bake the cake himself. Or go and buy a nice goody from an expensive deli, if he can't bake.

I will inform my Dh that a weekend of rampant sex is compulsory for us April Mums and see what he says. Though i fear i will see that hunted look in his eyes......... again

I also suspect that he will ask for a definition of "rampant" (he's a scientist / engineer, they can't help it really.....)

MrsDoolittle · 02/04/2004 11:57

Now shall I or shan't I go to Tescos and buy a loaf tin? Or shall I carry on around here feeling crap?
Did I tell you yesterday that when I was walking through the village a man said to me "You'll wear that dog out!!" ? Hah ha

MrsDoolittle · 02/04/2004 12:04

I'm really sorry girls - for posting such tedious drivel.
I am infact trying to ignore the fact theres a possiblity I might have to be induced. Needlephobic you see.....

M2T · 02/04/2004 12:12

MrsD - If they induce you they would probably start off with a gel inserted behind your cervix.... so no worries about a needle. I can assure you that when you are in labour your fear of needles will most likely disappear too.

Since you are already dilating I imagine they would probably just break your waters and you'd be on your way.
