Oh dear cakebaker. No wonder why you can't relax! I can't if I know two who lost their beans so late at 16 and 19 weeks. Just keep tell yourself that you are still pregnant, and hopefully the positive vibe will help.

Alb1 · 14/07/2014 14:29

cakebaker so glad to hear ur good scan news! So sorry you still have to deal with the bleeding stress, but your little one has shown how strong they are already so try and stay clear of dr google (easier said than done I no). I attempted to join the September antinatal thread twice (due 30th august but the august thread all seemed so far ahead so went for September instead, but I just couldn't keep up cos it moved too fast so I gave up on that one.

Thanks for the advice yesterday all, I woke the baby with some sugar and movements returned to normal and have been normal since, and have had virtually no CM at all since which is very unusual but preferable to any more potential plug like stuff at this stage so iv calmed down. Iv been overdoing it at work and as I work with the public I get told about 10 times a day that I'm far too big to make it another 7 weeks, look like I could give birth any second, should really be on maternity leave by now, should be working less hours etc etc I think it's finally starting to take effect! From my research tho most woman are not actually on maternity leave at 33 weeks and plenty of women are still working 45 hours a week (although my job involves being on my feet 100% of my shift) and my midwife doesn't seem concerned with how active I am so I'm planning to work as close to term as I can (I'm very fortunate that I don't need to give a planned maternity date) people at work are being nice and are genuinely looking forward to me having this baby but they don't half cause me some stress!

baby sorry your still feeling so rough but atleast the tablets are doing something for you, I wasn't too bad with DP at the start but these days it takes all my effort not to cry on him/rip into him for anything and everything all the time! He's very much a live in the moment sort of guy, never worries or plans for the future and that majorly clashes with my crazy pregnancy hormones, poor DPs can't do anything right Smile

MrsGiraffe12 · 14/07/2014 14:49

Hi all. Pleased to announce that my 32 week scan went well today. Baby is measuring bang on what he or she should, amniotic fluid is fab and placental and umbilical function is great. They've said that baby weighs approximately 3lbs 13 oz which is 1lb 6oz more than my DS weighed at 32 weeks when he was born :-) how much weight does the average baby gain between 32 weeks and full term?

Now for the consultant appointment tomorrow - discussing the hernia, blood pressure, and hopefully convince then to allow me a c section where I had DS by c section and with baby being breech etc I'm so anxious about vbac I think it would be a hindrance x

Alb1 · 14/07/2014 14:53

Great scan news mrsg that must be a huge relief! Fingers crossed tomorrow goes smoothly too and you get the answers you need, it must be so stressful not knowing were you stand

MrsGiraffe12 · 14/07/2014 14:58

Thanks alb it is such a relief, through I don't think ill fully relax until baby is safely delivered, however that may be x

Babytinx11 · 14/07/2014 15:03

Thanx alb1 I'm trying to look at it as a sign baby is healthy as we are fast approaching when I had the miscarriage last time in fact next scan is exactly when I lost the baby last time which is really scaring me keeping everything crossed everything is ok

Fab news about your scans cake and mrsg :)

OneLittleToddleTerror · 14/07/2014 15:18

alb ignore those people. You can tell if your body can cope. I worked till end of 36 weeks last time but I started labour the wednesday of the first week of my leave. I was also falling asleep at my desk before starting leave, though I can't remember from which week on.

This time I have just over 20 days of annual leave to use up. I'm starting officially at 37 weeks again, but taking all the annual leave makes it 33 weeks. Given how early DD was, and that I haven't actually done anything to prepare. I think I actually need a couple of weeks to order a cot/cot mattress, wash the baby gros, get a hair cut, pack my hospital bag, and generally have a feet up.

I'm sure you know what's best for you.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 14/07/2014 15:20

mrsg I'm assuming it must be a good normal weight, or they would have mentioned something about growth scans?

MrsGiraffe12 · 14/07/2014 15:29

Well they've said ill probably have more scans due to the complications with DS and with this baby being breech too. Only time will tell :-)

GailLondon · 14/07/2014 15:38

Hey everyone,

Lovely to hear good scan news from you cake and MrsG
I have my private 12 week (basic, no nuchal test) scan on Sunday so am hoping to join you on the happy news front.

Still no news from the NHS about my booking in appointment or my 12 week/nuchal scan. I managed to get through to the midwives on the phone today and they said they have changed the system recently so that they don't offer booking appointments until 12-13 weeks anymore, and that it is due to workload. Is it me or is that a polite way of saying they are counting on a proportion of people to have had a MC by then so they don't need to waste time booking them in? I thought it was all a bit odd. And I'm sure there are plenty of women out there who would have appreciated some first trimester advice on diet/folic acid/medication etc, but now we are just left alone to see if we 'make it' to the second trimester and then they will bother dealing with us.
One of the joys of living in a busy area of London I guess! But it hasn't filled me with confidence about my local medical support.

MrsGiraffe12 · 14/07/2014 15:59

gail I had my booking appointment at 8 weeks and my scan at 12 with this pregnancy but with my eldest I had my scan at 12 weeks and the booking appointment after it, maybe had it sooner this time as I previous mc so perhaps it's a reassurance thing? Or perhaps that protocol changes / varies from area to area x

Babytinx11 · 14/07/2014 16:24

Seems a bit odd but my gp
Said that booking is between 8 and 10 weeks but there is probably a smaller number of people to each midwife in my soggy corner of south west wales lol does seem pretty off to leave you till 12-13 weeks to book :( hope your scan goes well gail

Happilymarried155 · 14/07/2014 16:25

I had my booking in appointment today, it feels like such an achievement to have got this far! My midwife is lovely as well and she said it will always be her I see so it's been a good day! Glad everyone's scans went well today! :)

Cakebaker35 · 14/07/2014 16:43

It's so strange how booking in etc varies so much by area. Here you have to have had a booking in with the midwife or they won't see you for 12 wk scan. Normal booking in here is around 8 wks but if left it til 10 wks this time because I'm a crazy and felt I'd be jinxing things if I had it sooner!

KeepingTheFaith9 · 14/07/2014 22:59

Hello all, just dropping by, my posts are likely to be weekly but I do read all your news daily. Congrats to all those with reassuring scan news.

I had an eventful weekend - ended up staying overnight at the maternity unit on Sat owing to some minor bleeding on Fri/Sat.

They saw me within 30 mins of me phoning for advice and doc insisted I stay in for observation (I am 26 weeks) - baby heartbeat was fine and she was moving loads so she seemed fine - me and hosp were less carefree.

Have never stayed overnight in hospital in my life (almost 40 years!) it was an experience - but the staff were lovely and I feel more prepared for going back there (hopefully not till I'm
due in Oct!)

Thought I would share as apparently bleeding can be common esp with a low placenta (which I have)
Obvs - the miscarriage thing was my concern - so very relieved all okay.

No more bleeds and have taken day off today - and tomorrow to rest up - well - taken it as sick - which I hate doing but boss encouraged.

Strictly no sex, no flying, no lifting from now on - another scan at 32 weeks booked to see what placenta is doing - if it hasn't moved then a C section likely.

Re the booking thing - I actually would rather they didn't book you until after your 12 week scan if I'm honest. I found it heartbreaking first time around going for my booking and getting all excited at 8 weeks - only to find out it was all in vain and a blighted ovum was already present at that point - I felt so cheated - and like it was a waste of time.

I found it so difficult going for my booking this time round (10 weeks) and got so upset that half way though the midwife rang the sonographer and had me go for a scan there and then to allay my fears - that was a real help - but I know that was a unique situation.

Anyway - I guess everyone is different and for some that early booking is vital.

Well signing out time for me.

Night night all. Take care.

TeaandHobnobs · 15/07/2014 07:49

I'm glad it has settled down KeepingtheFaith. I had bleeding with DS from 29 weeks until he was born at 31+5 - not because of low-lying placenta, they don't know why it happened really. Tis not fun Sad Hope all stays quiet for you now though!

Cakebaker35 · 15/07/2014 08:05

Glad to hear you're ok keeping it must've been very scary. Another bleeder here, just when I thought it had stopped, haven't bled for 2 weeks then there it goes again yesterday. Sigh. I just don't really know what to do anymore, I've already had 4 scans and I'm only 13+2! All the scans have been ok but every time I bleed I can't help feeling the worst, it knocks my confidence and stops any enjoyment at all about this pregnancy. Just don't know whether to see gp again and try and push for referral to see someone? But I think I'll just be told bleeding is common blah blah. I guess I am looking for answers where perhaps there are none and it's just one of those things?

OneLittleToddleTerror · 15/07/2014 08:30

keeping I actually agree with you about the early booking in at 8 weeks. I really felt it was a waste of time when I did it this last time. I've filled out that sodding form three times within a year! (We have to do it before the appointment). I really wish they'll just book us in for the scan at 12 weeks and then see the midwife.

CorporeSarnie · 15/07/2014 11:05

Having had to cancel a booking appointment in the past due to MC, which was in itself quite traumatic, I agree. GPs can provide info on folate supplementation, basics on diet and EPU referrals for those of us needing them, so I'd prefer to wait to see my MW. Felt like a bit of waste of time to go this time at 8 or so weeks (even though I'd already been scanned twice and had seen a heartbeat).
What is more difficult is how variable this is from district to district - it is hard not to feel hard done by when other people get different/more antenatal visits than happens in one's own area.

KeepingTheFaith9 · 15/07/2014 11:09

Thanks ladies, I appreciate the sentiments - gosh - so much of it around, just what us nervous mums to be don't need!

I now have constant need to pee, even with the smallest amount in my bladder - it's slightly infuriating - having to time my visits out around where there are loos!

The midwife said this is normal so I guess I will just have to deal with it, there are worse things.

Today I am using my last rest day before going back to work to clear some room in the spare room for baby items - it is good excuse to have a mega clear-out!

Have a happy Tues all!

KeepingTheFaith9 · 15/07/2014 11:11

PS: Corpor - I agree the variation in how things work in different regions is baffling! No uniform approach it would seem! Hmm

blankfornames · 15/07/2014 11:12

Morning ladies, thanks for your advice. I've taken it all on board and I've delayed my first hospital visit from 10 weeks until I'm 12 weeks. At least that way, if all is well we can start sharing our news straight away.

I'm in Ireland so the first hospital visit takes about 3 hours as everything is done in that appointment. Even though it's adding two weeks onto my already nailbiting wait, at least I'll almost be over my 12 week mark.

Cakebaker and MrsG, great news abour your scans! I hope things have settled down for you today Cake and Keeping.

OneLittleToddleTerror · 15/07/2014 13:12

keeping welcome to the need to wee club. It only get worse. If I have a pint of coke at lunch, within an hour, I'd need to go every 15-20min. It's ridiculous. And a lot of times, it's only tiny amount that comes out. My bladder just feel so full all the time.

Rosevan17 · 15/07/2014 13:56

Hello everyone!!! I found out about MMC 5 wks ago, this was my first pregnancy, I was 10w but baby had no hb, is it ok if I join this thread?

OneLittleToddleTerror · 15/07/2014 14:12

Hi rosevan are you pregnant again? It is not clear from your post. This is the thread for those of us pregnant after losses. There is another thread for those TTC after MCs. If you are pregnant again, congrats and welcome on board. Otherwise hope to see you soon here.
