Morning all. I hope you had a good weekend. I've had a UTI since Friday and it's made me feel pretty rough. I think the antibiotics are working but I've also developed a hacking cough. Nice. I've therefore decided to spend the day in bed, watching tv and resting.

Have a good day everyone.

beansprout · 15/05/2004 12:23

Get well soon Piglit, I'm glad you are looking after yourself. You have my sympathy as I have never quite shifted the cough I had at Easter. Need to hold bump when I cough, prob as it's all a getting a bit stretched down there these days. Take it easy. I hear chocolate is good for coughs...

Harman - are you feeling more pg today? I do know what you mean. A friend warned me that "you are left to get on with it for the first 6 months" and it does feel like that sometimes. Can't get away from my bump these days though - how is yours?

Got my nuchal fold results at the weekend and it's all fine - hurrah!

Hope everyone else is ok xx

miffy2 · 15/05/2004 14:21

Hi everyone,
gosh, you blink round here and miss whole conversations!
Hope you are all doing well, benansprout good news on your Nuchal Scan result. Piglit hope you feel better soon. Can't imagine how painful that must be.
Almost 17 weeks now, bump firmly in place.

Spent most of last night awake, and you know when you get a tune in your head that you just cannot shake? WHY is it always the most pathetic, annoying one to be found? I spent about 2 hours last night with the Streets 'jingle'...how does it go again, oh yeah, 'You're so fit but my gosh don't you know it?'. Pathetic!

Wow - fab bump!!! Thanks for posting!! I did have similar horrible dream. Have told myself it is a natural anxiety to have, but it did leave me feeling very upset at the time.

Miffy - that song is designed to be annoying. Completely up there with "2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps" (which I know most of us will remember as we are all, ahem, of a certain age).

Piglit - am thinking of you tucked up in bed with chocolate and daytime tv. Please confirm or deny the rumour x

Great Bump Harman!! I love it. I will take photo tonight of my bump and develop photos shortly and post it! Bear in mind there is some pudge there also!!

Piglit hope it improves fast - what an annoyance, like you don't have enough to be dealing with!

My DH actually likes that song by the Streets and it drives me crazy especially seen as how I am so UNFIT!

I am feeling very unenthusiatic lately about work, is anyone else really stuggling to keep any interest at all in work these days?

beansprout · 15/05/2004 16:48

Btw - and can't believe I forgot to say this!! Have felt Beanie moving over the weekend. Just a little flicker, but it's definitely there!!

miffy2 · 15/05/2004 16:53

Yay beansprout - nothing beats those first few flutters. I have been feeling things for about a week or so now, but what with all the gas rumblings going on in there it is hard to know what is baby and what isn't! Still, treasure this as v soon babs will be keeping you awake at night or sending you running to the loo as s/he pummells your bladder...

Harman, fab bump. I could not show mine as I still have two bumps - the real one and the podge. Can't wait for them to blend into one

Turtle for the record it is now almost 2pm and I have done nothing of worth so far today (except surf here of course). Know just how you feel.

beansprout · 15/05/2004 16:56

Pretty much same here (as can be witnessed by my number of MN posts!).
I have good days and bad days, but really can't honestly say I am as productive as I used to be.

Ooops.

piglit · 15/05/2004 18:43

Hi everyone. Harman - I love the picture!

I've actually been slobbing out in an armchair soaking up the suns rays and munching on timeout bars and I'm feeling much better. This Morning was good today!

I think the antibiotics have given me a dodgy tummy. It couldn't possibly be the chocolate....

Glad to hear that everyone is doing so well. Beansprout - I think I've been feeling some movement. Is it like little bubbles bursting? I get it in the evening mostly but I have been sitting for the last hour saying "Hello - it's mummy here. Give me a kick. Please". The only problem is that by the time I realise there might have been some movement it seems to have gone quiet in there.

Oh, and I can totally understand where everyone is coming from on the work front. I have no motivation whatsoever. I'm leaving my job early anyway and I've worked out that I've only got 8 weeks to go. I know it will come round quickly but it seems live an eterntiy now. I wonder what happen to the career woman I used to be?

beansprout · 15/05/2004 19:02

Piglit - that's a good description! Feels like someone is gently flicking their finger on the inside?

I am sitting here obsessing about giving up an evening class I am doing. It's a bit work related (Sign Language, which I sometimes use at work) but really not essential. I am really struggling to give myself permission just to stop, not long before the exam. I really don't think I will be sitting there in December saying "damn it, I have this lovely child but I wish I had stage 2 BSL!!!" and yet I have a million commitments outside of work and am just managing to keep up energy levels. Was good to hear you say you will give up work - perhaps I just need to get over myself and see it as the first step to parenthood i.e. it's not all about me anymore! Sorry for the rant, but would appreciate any feedback from you all.

What am I like?!!!!

piglit · 15/05/2004 19:13

That's exactly how I described it to my dh - flicking a finger from the inside!

One thing I've learned from this pg malarkey is that you have to slow down. I'm sure one of the reasons I have been run down and suffering with this UTI is because I have been trying to do too much and trying to pretend that I'm not affected by this growing baby inside me and by these hormones. I just can't live life at the pace I used to, even a few months ago, and I think we all have to realise that we have changed. I know some women carry on as normal working like mad and doing lots and lots of other stuff but I can't believe that they don't find it a struggle. I sometimes get so tired that I want to weep and I've never been like that before - even after a hard week at work and a night of hard clubbing!!

Anyway, the long and the short of it is that I think you should put yourself (and the bean) first. You can take your exam after bean arrives, if you still want to.

Now, where's that remote control? I think an old episode of ER is on soon.

Toots · 15/05/2004 23:40

Hi all. Glad all bumps are progressing well. Agree with Miffy 2 will be pleased when upper and lower podge, the bread in my baby sandwich, is all filling/baby.

Beansprout. If it feels good, do it. Give up the course. I normally run a music group once a fortnight, and last week I just thought 'sod it - not today'. It's very informal, and I knew that other mums would step in. There are only a few more til the hols so I'll keep on. But an evening class - this isn't the first time I've been amazed about you keeping that up. Give your self permission to jack it in, and make one rule - no guilt!

beansprout · 15/05/2004 23:49

Thanks my fellow moosey lazeez. Bunked off college and went for a walk on a sunny Hampstead Heath with dp and then came home to a lovely dinner and feel much better.

Really appreciate your support (sniff) xx

piglit · 16/05/2004 11:56

That sounds like a much more sensible idea Beansprout.

My dh told me this morning that I still looked a little under the weather and suggested that I spend another day at home. I didn't need telling twice.

I hope everyone is well today. My bump has had a growth spurt over the weekend and it's beginning to get in the way a bit. It seems a bit more real now.

beansprout · 16/05/2004 12:16

Wise Piglit (and Mr. Piglit). Hope you are better soon.
Alas have had 4 hours sleep again, and yes, could be seen taking up a pair of trousers at 5am this morning. Bump is getting bigger here too - last week's evening belly is now the morning one - and got all uncomfortable last night and started to feel I can't manage if it keeps going like this for another FIVE months. Could be seen crying on dp saying "I think I am going to be a rubbish moose, I can't do this...". Reality bites.

Bump back down to managable size again this morning so feeling a bit better. Ho hum.

Hope everyone is well.

Its taken me ages to catch up on the thread! but great to know everyone is well and bump's are making themselves known. My tiny MIL keeps asking me if I have felt the baby move yet (am almost 19 weeks) and when i say no she says it will be because I am a bit overweight to start with...charming!

Has anyone got their 20 week scan coming up? I know this has come up on other threads but DH doesnt want to know the sex but I'm not sure - we'd be delighted with either a boy or girl but I was wondering if I would feel any closer to the baby during my pregnancy if I knew ahead of time...has everyone decided one way or the other?

Hope you are all well and having a good day
