I'm 35 weeks and driving myself crazy! I'm so uncomfortable and this heat isn't helping. I'm constantly expanding, my jeans are getting too tight but it seems silly to buy anymore now.

I just want him out, he must be just about big enough by now!

Anyone else feeling the same?

Roseberry I was induced with my last 2 pregnancies, 1st one I needed epidural because of the intensity & 2nd one I managed on gas & air....I found my 2nd labour much easier but I had been worried about the intensity.

I'm feeling fed up today, emotional & in so much pain... I want baby out now Hmm

RoseberryTopping · 01/07/2014 22:37

Congratulations double!! Lovely that she made it for your DHs birthday :) what a brilliant present for him. Enjoy your high!

That's good to hear coffee. I'm hoping that I can manage and stay calm enough to avoid it as it should hopefully be a shorter labour.

Do you know much about declining induction then always? I haven't looked too much in to it and just assumed it's what happens next. Is there much danger involved in leaving it to happen naturally?

Oh coffee, just seen your last line :( have you had a good cry? Helps to get it all out, even if it's not really over anything. Or have a good rant here if you want, we all understand!

Huge congratulations double!Thanks

I dread the thought of induction too as I found it so intense and also ended up with an epidural. DS2 without induction and gas and air only was a way more positive experience and did much less damage to me physically.
Huge hugs coffee

Congrats double-sounds like an amazing birth, well done you.

Always-4cm!! How is that possible-I was in agony then & well into the gas n air! Amazing how different everyone's experience is....really hoping your baby does come soon, what an annoying midwife-she does not have a crystal ball!

Sorry the sweeps have not worked roseberryHmm I've got no words of advice re induction sorry but keep on checking in to see how you're getting on...really is not long to go now, am thinking of you!
Good luck ladies x

Iwill, sounds like you've got your head round the breast feeding now & as you said what happened to your mum put it in perspective. Glad you've got her sorted now too. You never know you may end up doing mixed feeding for a while, works for lots of people.

Mummymidwife87 · 02/07/2014 09:44

40+6 today.
Had a sweep, cervix quite favourable all considering I haven't really been feeling anything.
Cx 1cm dilated, 1.5cm long, central and soft, head fixed in the pelvis.
Had lots of bloody mucus afterwards and a bit of pelvic discomfort but that's it. I have had loose bowels since 3am on 3 occasions, but I think I'm looking into it too much.

Having a meeting this morning with a supervisor of midwives regarding using the birth centre with a high heart rate (mine, not baby's)

Mummymidwife87 · 02/07/2014 09:46

Also have a midwife appt on Friday for another sweep, and then I suspect an appt at hospital on Monday for post dates scan and sweep, then induction booked for Tuesday at my request (41+5). We normally do post dates inductions at 42/40

Janicka01 · 02/07/2014 10:01

Hello, who is in 8 weeks pregnant? Because it´s my the worst week, I´m still in the toilet :-( Have you go the same problem as me? On these sites: www.behappypregnant.com/60/8-weeks-pregnant/

say that the 8 week is the worst because the hormones work at full speed. ...in the summer it´s horrible!!

Iwillorderthefood · 02/07/2014 10:06

Congratulations Double! How fantastic.

Roseberry I hope you get underwaywithout intervention.

Coffee I felt like this when I was about to give birth. Crying over many things.

Mummy midwife, this sounds promising.

Always, I was going around at 2-3cm without feeling anything, but 4cm is pretty amazing, although I was induced, once triggered my body worked pretty fast, it was all over in 1.51 so beware that when you go, it is likely to be quick!

AlwaysDancing1234 · 02/07/2014 17:38

Huge congrats double!!
coffee sending hugs and hope you are feeling ok
Not quite sure how I've got to 4cm and got stuck, really uncomfortable now, lots of mucous again following sweep yesterday (sorry if TMI!) and lots of twinges etc again, how the hell is this baby not born yet??!!
I think I've come up with a cunning plan to make her arrive tomorrow, I've booked a pedicure and plan to treat myself to lunch so she's bound to turn up and scupper my plans ha!!

RoseberryTopping · 03/07/2014 09:56

Hope you enjoy your pedicure today always :) either that or I hope she spoils your plans and turns up at last!

Did anyone else get extremely tired towards the end? The past few days I've been so worn out, am managing to do the bare minimum that's needed of me. Even just being awake is enough of a chore Hmm

Huffpot · 03/07/2014 10:51

let's hope the plan worksalways!

I'm knackered too roseberry
I've got so much to do in terms of last minute cleaning but so tired! I'm debating putting a dvd on for the boys in our room when I pick them up and sleeping while they watch to hide from the heat but then I'm thinking of everything that needs to be done before bubConfused

Iwillorderthefood · 03/07/2014 11:53

Always, Roseberry and Coffee I feel for you in all this heat.

I would go with escape the heat Huff.

I have finally been given the right medication for the thrush. Hopefully this will give us our best chance of breastfeeding. I really will be done if nothing doing after this!

RoseberryTopping · 03/07/2014 12:36

I don't feel too bad now, I've got Saturday in sight and it's getting closer and closer! The good thing about inductions is you can plan for it quite easily, make sure phones and chargers and cameras etc are packed. I do like the thought of being able to wake up and think 'today I will go in to labour'.
My burn has healed a lot now so I'm less worried about the monitoring straps rubbing on it. I just need Saturday to come now!

RoseberryTopping · 03/07/2014 12:38

You've done so well to carry on feeding IWill, at least you know if it doesn't work out then you've given it you're very best shot. Do you feel alright about maybe having to stop? Can be a big deal emotionally so I wouldn't blame you for feeling a bit sad about it.

OP posts:
Iwillorderthefood · 03/07/2014 13:28

It is lovely that the end is in sight for you now Roseberry. You will have your baby soon.

I feel ok about stopping. But I each time I think about stopping my milk supply, I feel panic. So although I know it might be the best thing the act of following through may be more difficult.

ch1a · 03/07/2014 14:15

Congratulations double - what a wonderful labour.

Always, roseberry, coffee, huff and mummy midwife my thoughts are with you on these hot stuffy days and nights. Hoping all babies get a move on.

I feel like I'm out the other side. Breastfeeding hard but going well in that none of the problems I had last time are recurring...no tongue tie, no supply issues etc. Some pain ands thrush but he is gaining well and all is being treated so its reassuring. Plus the sandwich latch is working wonders for reducing the pain despite every midwife in the hospital telling me it's not a proper latch it feels right for us.

Please no one awaiting induction be swayed by stories like mine. It's just my body does not deliver babies effectively! Twice now this has been shown! I carry pregnancies but don't give them up at the end.

All of this is all worthwhile when I look at my two beautiful boys and ds1 says mummy I love Ezekiel I'm so glad he came out of your tummy he is so little and cute. It melts my heart.

Come on July babies - get a move on and join us and make your mums happy!

ch1a · 03/07/2014 14:23

Iwill the thrush is a killer isn't it?! Ouch. We are on day 3 of the oral one for him and cream for me....still can see white in his mouth but feeling definite improvement in my breasts and nipples. Hope your meds give you some relief soon. And again if you have to stop then so be it.....not being in pain should be your only priority. A mixture of milks and methods or just formula is for the best of it helps your body recover and feel good again.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 03/07/2014 15:29

Ooh - haven't read the thread but this takes me back. DD1 was born mid July in the middle of a horrible heatwave. I had to commute into central london every day and had legs and feet swollen to elephant size. Argh - it was horrible.
Best of luck ladies - can I recommend sticking an electric fan in the boot of the car for the post natal ward (I ended up with EMCS); tell all visitors they won't be admitted without a large portion of freshly squeezed juice [for the vitamin and iron content] with ice, AND a large fresh salad. the hospital will be serving beef casserole when it's 35 degrees on the ward Bliss.

LucyB1 · 03/07/2014 15:36

Oh my god get this baby out of me!! (39+3)

Iwillorderthefood · 03/07/2014 16:32

Anyone waiting for induction check out my story instead. I had a great experience delivering number three. It's in this thread dated around 15 or 16 June. Induction does not always have to mean problems.

Ch1a you sound very upbeat, hopefully all your feeding issues will be quickly resolved, sounds as though the doctors you have seen are more clued up than those I have seen (doctor I saw today excepted).

I hope all you waiting for your babies are able to stay cool, in this very hot weather.

evertonmint · 03/07/2014 16:43

Just checking in. Life has gone crazy here - good, but crazy Grin

Iwill - you're still going: you are officially awesome Grin

I also had a truly wonderful birth with DD after an induction and a really positive one this time round too with DS (only slightly less good as it was a bit more medicalised, but really positive experience and great recovery) So please don't be scared of induction!

DS2 is 12 days old - time flies! Feeding every 1.5-2 hours still in this heat but getting at least one 3 hour stretch at night, and he is very chilled so no marching the corridors with a crying baby at 3am, thankfully. His older brother and sister adore him. I have my first day without any help tomorrow - timed so I only have one to get through one before DH is around for the weekend!

AlwaysDancing1234 · 03/07/2014 19:20

Our baby girl born at 12:49pm water birth gas & air, I'm so pleased she's finally here!! Small tear and stitches so staying overnight. She's on the boob a lot already!

RoseberryTopping · 03/07/2014 19:25

AT LAST!!! Grin was just thinking about you and how surely you can't be hanging around much longer. Congratulations! Were we right about it being quick once it got going? Enjoy your snuggles :)

I'm feeling quite calm mostly about induction now, taking on the attitude of what will be will be.

Congratulations always! Wonderful news!

Roseberry I'm sure it will be a great experience. Even though mine was dramatic I feel so good about it now looking back...I kept my focus and concentration and gave as good as I got so I feel a sense of satisfaction as much as I would have with any other birth I think. And I have a wonderful baby which was the main thing ... mission accomplished!
