I'm 35 weeks and driving myself crazy! I'm so uncomfortable and this heat isn't helping. I'm constantly expanding, my jeans are getting too tight but it seems silly to buy anymore now.

I just want him out, he must be just about big enough by now!

Anyone else feeling the same?

That's a good addition Everton - the "oh poor you" look!!

ch1a · 19/06/2014 08:25

Thanks for the moral support everyone. I turned up and despite being booked in there is no bed for me. Feeling really irritated. Have been sent to labour and delivery to wait for a bed but there are two women waiting here without beds who are in actual labour so I can't think it'll be too quick.

Trying to not make a massive big deal about all this and be a good patient but I'm so fed up.

Thanks for the advice & numbers Everton. I think I'll stick to the same position for now but might try lying down when tired! Nipples & boobs not too bad now, one side on rhs is a bit red & sore, but I find if I use my nipple shells in between feeds, plus lots lansinoh then that helps. Really enjoying feeding my baby but it is demanding getting established.

Ch1a, how frustrating for you-everything in hospitals seems to take forever....hope you get seen soon & in meantime have some good things to distract you!!

evertonmint · 19/06/2014 09:11

Ch1a - that happened to me. Didn't have a bed at 9am as booked due to the number of women in labour. I was distraught. DH took me off for lunch and we ended up in an art gallery buying ludicrously expensive art and a posh boutique buying ridiculously pricey baby clothes as we didn't know what else to do! Can you get out for a walk and nice lunch and ask them to just call you when the bed is free rather than hanging around the hospital?

evertonmint · 19/06/2014 09:15

Lost a lot of mucus this morning and just had a second mild contraction 10 mins after the first. Think we're starting again after 2 days of being totally halted but not yet sure if this is going anywhere. 40+7 today.

I put on a big sunhat and big sunglasses for the school run, found a good friend and made her have a very long conversation with me all the way in and out so nobody could mutter platitudes at me. So bingo chocolate not technically allowed but I'm going to have some anyway Grin

evertonmint · 19/06/2014 09:17

Seasalt - all sounds good. Keep an eye on the red, sore patch, but otherwise sounds like you're well on the way. Frequent feeds (no more than 3 hours between and often 1.5-2 hours at this stage) are the best way of building supply and getting things established but it's hard work physically and emotionally so drink lots, eat lots and rest lots!

AlwaysDancing1234 · 19/06/2014 09:24

ch1a I know it can't be helped but how annoying, like someone has said can you go out for a walk and they ring you on your mobile when a bed is free? Worth asking I reckon.
seasalt it does get easier, sounds like you are doing all the right things, look after yourself.
Everton sounds promising and yes I think you deserve the chocolate anyway!

RoseberryTopping · 19/06/2014 10:51

Lol a long way to go for you yet then deathmetal! You should be in your 2nd tri soon though and that usually brings some relief :)

Aww ch1a that's poo, how frustrating! Have you got lots of things to keep your mind occupied? Not exactly what you need when you're already nervous.

Hope this is it for you everton, who'd have thought we'd ever be excited about lots of mucous.

Nothing happening here, I'm still fat and pregnant. Just put on some light fake tan on the off chance that I go in to labour after my sweep - you never know!

Good luck with the sweep tomorrow Roseberry hope things get moving

RoseberryTopping · 19/06/2014 14:17

Cheers Always :) do you reckon I'll be alright to drive afterwards? I'm having to leave DS at a friends house in the next little town over so will have to go back to collect him. I've totally forgotten what it feels like afterwards though.

evertonmint · 19/06/2014 15:55

Stopped again. Bleugh!

Rosebery, I think you'll be fine. I drove 5 miles immediately after to collect DD. Had a slight lower backache but nothing to stop me driving.

ch1a · 19/06/2014 18:35

So I cried, got all anxious and they brought supervisor of midwives to speak to me. She was lovely. Calmed me down and let me leave.

Phoned me twice to say still full then a third time when a bed came free. Am here now awaiting gel then hopefully home.

AlwaysDancing1234 · 19/06/2014 19:12

Roseberry when I had my sweep last time around we walked home afterwards and all was fine, a little bit achy from being prodded and poked was all. Nothing happened straight away, was a few hours before it kicked off so you should be ok
Ch1a sorry you've had a crap experience so far but glad things are finally moving in the right direction. Looking forward to reading your birth announcement. Sending you hugs and positive thoughts.
Everton your baby is obviously too damn comfy in there!
It's so annoying with all this stop start malarkey isn't it.

RoseberryTopping · 19/06/2014 19:28

Oh good :) if it's going to work does it usually happen the next day then? DP is off to a wedding a couple of hours away on Saturday, bit nervous about him going tbh.
Just had my grandma on the phone wanting me to take my dad with me to my sweep! I love him dearly but I think I'd rather go alone!

I'm glad they let you leave ch1a, it'd do you no good being sat around there all day. Hopefully you will be able to get home this evening as well. How are you feeling about it now?

How frustrating everton! Is this your 2nd or 3rd baby?

It's all happening Ch1a the hospital bed issue is a nightmare isn't it? I had that too, booked for induction at 7 pm sat only for it to happen the following morning, only they could not send me home since my waters had broken. I got very emotional too, crying on the ward. It is very hard waiting for the induction to start. I am willing you to stay strong and calm (not that I managed this!),

Everton, poor you stop start again. It is so hard waiting for things to move. I am sure people just do not remember this part of being pregnant, school run people should know better really since most of them have been there.

Raspberry hope the sweep goes ok.

I am having a breast feeding disaster, after a day of everything going really well, my nipples are now so sore I cannot feed her at all, and she is being fed expressed milk. The hospital are sending someone in the morning to hopefully help me out, but am so sad, I cannot feed her directly, I don't feel able to hold her like I want to as my breasts are so sore. I think this might be the beginning of the end, even though I went through this last time and came out the other side :0(

Everton thanks for the information. Am going to take a closer look at it now.

ch1a · 19/06/2014 20:55

I feel better and less of a princess that you are all speaking of similar reactions to anticipating induction and being held up!

I have now had a third sweep for good measure, a pessary and am home again. Please all cross fingers and toes for it to kick in overnight and for me to avoid more pessaries in the morning and to be able to use the birth centre and pool!

Feeling optimistic. Have some dragging pains but not significant.

Iwillorder I'm sorry about your poor nipples. I did a lot of pumping last time and it's so tiring so well done. Hopefully they will be able to help you tomorrow with some good advice.

Everton I hope stop start has gone back to start again. Hopefully this means when it does all kick in it'll be super fast as your body has been practicing for a while!

Roseberry good luck for the sweep. I'd tell them to get stuck in and give you a good one...I think my previous two were too gentle and this evening definitely made more of an impression!

Always I hope you are feeling good too...I love your idea of pregnancy bingo!

Love to all for general kindness and listening. Thanks a million.

RoseberryTopping · 19/06/2014 21:47

Argh that is a horrible stage to be at IWill :( have you tried nipple shields as a bit of respite? I'm sure you know that they will soon toughen up, it's just that horrible in between stage to go through. Hope the hospital can offer some assistance with it anyway.

Got my fingers tightly crossed for you! Sending lots of positive thoughts your way, do update us in the morning if possible. You should be cuddling your baby tomorrow - how mad is that! Grin

My friend told me to ask for them to not hold back, I'm just not sure how you politely bring that up? It's awkward enough having someone finger you without asking them to be a bit rough if they fancy.

evertonmint · 19/06/2014 22:19

Oh Iwill Hmm In addition to the midwives, do contact the NCT to talk with your local breastfeeding counsellor who will have a lot of experience helping with this sort of problem and will be able to consolidate what the mws say and hopefully spend more time with you.

Ask the mw to specifically check for tongue tie as that can often cause pain and sore nipples even if latch looks good.

In the meantime, let your sore nipples get plenty of air - walk around with your top off. Also try rubbing in some breast milk at the end of each feed and let them air dry. This can sometimes work better than lansinoh.

You will probably be feeling worried about pain at each feed, which will make you tense and make positioning worse. So make a very conscious decision to relax your shoulders and open out your chest before you start a feed. Get DP to press down on your shoulders if necessary to remind you if this.

Hope you get through the night ok, and that you get lots of face to face help tomorrow x

seasaltbaby · 19/06/2014 22:35

Oh no Iwill! I'm so sorry to hear u say that-don't lose hope just yet-you're only few days in & it will get easier day by day. Hopefully the advice on here & face to face support tomorrow will help. I've used nipple shells in between feeds to allow air to them & I think they really have helped. Today they are not so sore at all. Fingers crossed for u...

Good luck for the sweep tomorrow roseberry, hope it does the trick! I guess in a way it is the same as being fingered....dear god, the things we ladies endure!

And good luck for induction too, you're nearly there now. Soon u will all have sleeping babies on your tummy, rather than inside, like I have now-it is the best Grin

Iwillorderthefood · 20/06/2014 02:57

DH now appreciates how much sleep I save him. Hope to resolve feeding issue soon!

AlwaysDancing1234 · 20/06/2014 10:56

ch1a I hope your induction got things moving and you are now in labour or holding your new baby!
*Roseberry have you had you sweep yet? Hope things start happening.

I had a rubbish night last night, only a few hours sleep. Baby was wiggling like mad and Had tightenings every 10 mins for couple hours but all stopped again now. Feeling odd today, can't stop bloody crying at nothing in particular (I don't feel particularly upset or sad, just can't stop crying!). Also feel a bit nauseous. Pregnancy hormones have a lot to answer for!

ch1a · 20/06/2014 12:13

I was in latent labour last night but tens machine made it so bearable. Then today quite strong contractions in hospital. When the doctors came to give an examination unfortunately baby has had decided since last night to turn into a transverse unsstable lie. So it looks like despite the contractions a caesearian is on the cards. So shocked And confused and don't know what to think to be honest.

Iwillorderthefood · 20/06/2014 12:19

Oh no Ch1a I was just checking back to see if there was news. I am sorry about this. Unplanned section is not what you want is it. Still tranverse lie is not good either.

Do you know when you are going? I assume fairly quickly since you are contracting. I will check back a bit later for more news. At least this way you will not be in danger during labour, I understand this lie can be dangerous for you and the baby.

AlwaysDancing1234 · 20/06/2014 14:46

ch1a sorry to hear things are not going quite as planned but it sounds like a c section is now the best thing so take heart in the fact that you will meet your baby very soon. Thinking of you.
