Christmas / NYE babies?

Just got that BFP and facing the long road ahead.... The baby is due NYE which could be interesting - perhaps didn't think that one through!

Dying to tell people - all I can think about - but think I should play it safe until I get the all clear scan. Soooo exciting though.

Anyone else out there playing the waiting game?

j200 I'm so pleased to hear that. I'm just back from GP after having a persistent lower abdomen ache in one place for the last 2 days. She was initially very concerned but after examining thinks it's nothing serious. Hear you on the FFwd to January, if we're already thinking that just a few weeks in, what are we going to be like!!

Glad to hear J200 that the bleeding stopped. Hope you now have a trouble free pregnancy.

My symptoms are back, have been feeling decidely queasy all day today and doesn't matter whether I am eating or not.

Had a chat with DH last night and we decided that whatever happens with mw tomorrow, I am going to have an early scan. If they don't offer one to me I am going to book a private one. Feel so much more relieved for having made the decision. Just want to get tomorrow out of the way now.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Can I join?

Am 5wks today I think. Not quite sure whether I o'd on the Thursday or Friday: I'd just quit BF #2 and hadn't had a cycle. But based on cm and when we dtd (just the once in the entire week, embarrassingly enough) I think I'm 5wks making me due Jan 1.

This is #3 for us and all my hopes for not stressing so much have obviously gone straight out the window... :) Having waves of bad morning sickness (I don't vomit in pregnancy so if I start doing that there are two in there!!), sore boobs, stretching pains every so often etc etc. And remembering too how much I dislike first tri: just want to be on the right side of 12wks!!

Hi! I'm also due around Christmas - on Christmas eve! It's my first pregnancy and I'm so nervous something will go wrong...I can't wait to get to 12 weeks so I can start to relax!! It's so hard not talking about it!

Hello! I'm due on 30th December, just got bfp today as wanted to wait till I was at least a week late. Got a midwife appointment booked for 3 weeks time, but even that seems quite a way off. Just like you ggabs worried something might go wrong, but trying to think positive :)

Hello new festive seasoners. I worry this is the wrong place for a social thread such as this and we'll all get shooed off to ante-natal clubs but it's so nice having a tiny little xmas and new year niche here.....

That's some incredible display of self-control there on your test, baking I thought I was showing restraint waiting until AF was 5 days late!

Just came on to say congratulations to you all (especially Vivi -- it doesn't seem long since the wedding thread, does it?!)

DD2 is currently sleeping on me. I got my bfp this time last year and my original due date was 31st December. It was changed to 5th January after my 12 week scan, and she eventually arrived on 8th January.

I remember the point you're all at so vividly! Good luck, ladies. Have lovely pregnancies. I'm ever so slightly envious :o

Alright, Tobes?! Man alive yes that was a lifetime ago and yet feels like only yesterday all the same. Fancy us having the same original dude date too. Nice to see you here.

I still can't believe this is actually happening....

Funny, isn't it? DD arrived 4 days before our first wedding anniversary :)

I'm not sure you'll ever really believe it's happening, even when the baby is born.

Hi just wanted to see how you are all doing? I am permanently paranoid and now stressing that the stress is going to make it worse! Missed my usual morning test and boobs don't hurt anymore so fearing the worse.... Really hope I feel more positive soon, anyone else the same?

Im a terrible worrier but I've been coming to the realisation that worrying and over thinking isn't going to help.

Obviously I am scared, and I want everything to work out but I think a que sera sera type approach is keeping me calmer and is probably better for all involved :)

Is there anything you could get absorbed in that will take your mind off if for a bit?

We're going on holiday on Monday which while on the surface feels a bit like dud timing (South of France - had been planning to visit artisan cheesemakers and vineyards and go white-water kayaking and scuba diving Hmm ) It's actually the ideal time as it will be a great distraction, hopefully be relaxing and keep me away from people I'm dying to tell. And keep me occupied until my appointment with the midwife the Monday after we return...

Congrats everyone!! Baby due 30th dec. Surprise baby as well, weren't planning another, already have one ds age 4 :)

Stop testing!!!

Seriously - it will tell you nothing. HCG stays in your system for a while, so even if you get a positive test today, that doesn't necessarily mean that all is well with the baby. It is a waste of time and money.

Distraction is key here. Anything bad that happens in first tri is generally due to things you have zero control over. All you can do is wait. It sucks, but it's true.

And try not to read too much into 'losing' symptoms. They fluctuate constantly.

Thanks ladies, I have got a grip now Smile. No more testing, if it's meant to be it will and I am just going to make sure I eat right and get lots of sleep to help.
Please update me with all your positive news as we go through this journey and hold my hand/slap me when needed

J200 glad to hear you are feeling better today. I must admit I took my last test on Thursday night before I went to see the midwife. I think I just needed to see that word to make sure the thre me tests that I did 3 weeks ago weren't a figment of my imagination!

I have booked a private scan for Wednesday evening the midwife told me that unless I start bleeding they will not offer an early scan and having waited 2 years for this baby I am desperate to know tht everything is ok (and whether it's twins).

Congrats Kat welcome to the mad house!!

Hi j200, all good hear thanks :) Just finding I'm tired by mid-afternoon and seems like I'm weeing about twice as much as usual. Not really had any nausea yet, just feel ever so slightly queasy when I get hungry. I know not everyone gets morning sickness and often doesn't kick in till after 6 weeks, and one of my friends who is 6 months pregnant never had the slightest bit of nausea. So not going to start wishing for that! Like you I'm trying not to stress too much, but easier said than done.

Hi LadesC, don't have experience of this, but didn't want to read without bumping it up. I know a little spotting isn't necessarily a problem, but I suppose if you're in any doubt, ring your GP surgery or midwife if you already have their number. Hopefully everything will be fine x

Report
LisaC2611 · 06/05/2014 11:12

Hi all

LadesC sorry to hear you are spotting, I would give your midwife a call and see what she says as they may get you in for an early scan.

J200 midwife appointment was a bit of a waste of time, as my drs surgery should not have booked me in to see her, they should have given me the number for the community midwife office so that I could book through them.

As I was there she took my blood pressure, which was all fine and she sent off a urine sample, but she couldn't do the booking in as she didn't have a form and she couldn't take my bloods because I didn't have a unit number. I've now spoken to the community midwives and given them all my details. They will send me a scan date and then the midwife (who I saw on Friday) will call me after I have received the date to book my booking in appointment. The midwife was really lovely and she said that I would see her for all my antenatal care but that she wouldn't get to meet my baby Sad, as although I am under where she does her surgery at my drs, I am outside of the jurisdiction where I live and I will have my post natal care through a different group of midwives who I have never met, which is a bit of a shame really.

She dated me as 7+5 (I made it that I was 7+4) and she gave me the same EDD that I had worked it out to be so an early Christmas present for me (unless the bean's late) in which case it could be Christmas day!

However, she did tell me an interesting piece of information. She told me that 1 in 8 pregnancies start out with twin but only 1 in 80 make it to a twin birth, which is why you may have some spotting in early pregnancy.

I tried to get her to get me booked in for an early preganancy scan because we conceived using Clomid but she wasn't having any of it, so when I got home from the appointment I booked a private scan and we will get to see out little bean tomorrow night for the first time and hopefully find out that everything is ok Grin Am super excited and can't wait - just hope DH manages to get out of work on time so that he's on the right train home.

Nausea is really starting to kick in now, if I don't eat every couple of hours I start to feel really rough and although I haven't thrown up yet, I feel that it is only a matter of time.

I'm 8+1 today. How's everyone else doing?

Lisa
