Christmas / NYE babies?

Annette76 · 27/04/2014 09:44

Just got that BFP and facing the long road ahead.... The baby is due NYE which could be interesting - perhaps didn't think that one through!

Dying to tell people - all I can think about - but think I should play it safe until I get the all clear scan. Soooo exciting though.

Anyone else out there playing the waiting game?

Me too due date Jan 6th, so nervous at the moment though, taken 2years to get here and feels like it's still too early to get excited, will prob poas everyday for next week or so!

Rosa9 · 28/04/2014 23:30

The lack of symptoms at this stage is a killer!!! Sometimes I'm feeling little cramps in my uterus but not painful...just a bit uncomfortable I don't know how to describe it... I was even thinking to do one of the early pregnancy scans privately but is a lot of money and I think it might be a bit crazy lol...just because I can't wait... Congrats everyone for the BFPs!!

TurquoiseDress · 29/04/2014 06:48

Congratulations to you all! Very exciting times especially not being able to share with others yet.

Can I just ask, some of you only found out in the last week or so and are awaiting your 12 week scan- how do you know your due date already?!

j200 · 29/04/2014 06:55

I only estimated mine using an online calculator, I do know the exact date I ovulated as was having fertility treatment and had a trigger shot to make me ovulate

Knottyknitter · 29/04/2014 06:58

Can I join in?

EDD 27/12 by dates.

You can work out an EDD from your LMP date, they might adjust it at your scan, but it's the old fashioned way of working it out. The Mumsnet calculator works the same way but with an adjustment for cycle length for good measure, but the midwives circle thingy works it out this way, too. If your EDD is changed at the scan, it's "by scan" rather than "by dates"

TurquoiseDress · 29/04/2014 07:11

Oh ok yeah I know about predicting by dates and using LMP, was thinking scan dates take precedent if they differ to another calculated date.

Just thought that it'd be hard to predict exactly when fertilisation took place as sperm can survive a good 7 days, but I guess with an ovulation predictors it narrows the window as the egg survives for a much shorter time.

Hi everyone!! Im due somewhere between 24-27 dec :) really struggling to keep if quiet this time :) x

LadesC · 29/04/2014 17:08

Hello all and congrats. Im due 30th Dec.....first time mummy so very excited, terrified etc etc!!

j200 · 29/04/2014 19:47

Hi this is first time for me too and I am soooo paranoid I can't get excited yet- is this the same for everyone else?

I keep testing everyday as my line is very faint.

Also did you go to your GP for a test after the +ve HPT? Don't know what to do next....

CatFaceCrayola · 29/04/2014 19:51

It's so hard to keep quiet! There's a pregnant lady at work so a lot of staffroom chat revolves around pregnancy. Today it came to me..."so, are you going to start trying soon then"? Aàhhhh!

Got first appointment with midwife tomorrow, seems a bit early but the dr just told me to book in with mw so I did. What will my appointment involve??

(6 weeks)

ViviPru · 29/04/2014 22:55

CatFace & J200 it must vary. I called the surgery today about seeing GP and receptionist said unless I felt there was something I specifically needed to speak to him about then she would just schedule a 'booking appointment' with the midwife for me for wk8.

I slipped and fell today hard on my backside. Been getting some very mild cramping today too so a little anxious but trying not to get stressed.

I've always watched OBEM religiously, it was so weird watching it tonight for the first time with a BFP. I still don't really think of myself as pregnant. I don't think I will until the scan...

Millasaurus · 29/04/2014 23:51

Congratulations everyone! :) I'm due on the 8th of December.

Annette76 · 30/04/2014 09:20

Just skipped over into week 5 :) and made the slightly unwise decision to google mc stats.... I'm 37 so it's on my mind as slightly older. Found some good articles though saying that once you have tested this brings the odds down considerably. Still high though... Feeling urge to sit in a big ball of cotton wool for next 7 weeks!

Have succumbed to booking early scan on 17 may - hope my sanity holds out that long!

Concentration on well quite frankly anything proving to be an issue....

Hi Annette....also 37 and just into 5 weeks so know what you mean. Is this your first? Im trying to do everything right to give this little one the best chance but its sooo hard to know what to do for the best. Went for a short slow run earlier in the week as most things ive read say exercise is recommended. Was gonna go again today but have now read that overheating is potentially risky...and i overheat after about 5 mins!!

Been awake since 4.30am today (damn hormones) so think delirium is setting in!!

j200 · 30/04/2014 10:52

I think it is hard as so many conflicting guidelines! Had a bath last night and then read about overheating, had my normal caffeinated tea and some smoked salmon too as I read under 200mg caffeine is ok as is smoked fish but then my friend said she was told to avoid smoked fish....ahhhh!
As I had fertility treatment I have a ver early scan in 2weeks so hopefully will be reassuring!

Alibaba32 · 30/04/2014 16:12

Hi.. I just found out I'm due on December 28th, it's been 10years since my last baby and I'm feeling really nervouse

ViviPru · 30/04/2014 16:39

"Concentration on well quite frankly anything proving to be an issue...."

I hear that. I hope I don't become like I was when I was engaged when I held zero interest in anything other than weddings I so will, perhaps worse

Have you tested again,Annette? Is this your first? I'm 35 so also concerned about stats and all that.

LisaC2611 · 30/04/2014 16:49

Hi All

Can I join you? My EDD is 15 December.

Annette76 and LadesC I've just turned 38 and this is my first, got my BFP as a belated birthday present, I'm 7+3 weeks.

LadesC I was a bootcamp in the morning on the day I found out that I was pg and went running the next day, am continuing to see my personal trainer and with the running (although have given bootcamp a wide berth for the time being). As long as you know your limits and listen to your body you will be fine to carry on as you was before, however, if you have not been doing the running before you was pregnant it is not adviseable to start without building it up gradually.

I'm off to my mw appt on Friday, looking forward to it but feeling very anxious as for the last couple of days I have felt decidely less pg than I did. Boobs not as sore and ms not so obvious. I hope I'm not in for a disappointment. I'm going to do my last test on Friday morning before I visit the mw to make sure it still says "pregnant".

Lisa

LisaC2611 · 30/04/2014 16:51

j200 can I ask what fertility treatment you had? I was on Clomid when I fell pg and I want to argue on Friday at my mw appointment that I should be scanned early - I have heard that this is the case at most HCTs just not mine!

j200 · 30/04/2014 17:18

Hi Lisa I had menopur injections and trigger shot and was scanned twice a week during treatment. think I have a high chance of twins which could be why, not sure really but if I was you I would see if I could get an early scan too x

LisaC2611 · 30/04/2014 17:41

Thanks j200. Not one I've heard of but I know that I have a lot of factors which make me high risk of twins so would really like an early scan. Clomid increases the probability of twins as does my age so will definitely be pushing for it on Friday. Although feel like I have lost all my pg symptoms today and feel exactly like I did before I found out I was pg. hope this is not a bad sign

j200 · 30/04/2014 18:51

I have just started bleeding dark blood, so scared Hmm

ViviPru · 01/05/2014 10:00

Oh no j200 are you ok? Did it stop?

j200 · 01/05/2014 11:03

Yes it did thankfully, was so worried but GP thinks normal spotting/implantation and only worry if I get pain or lots more blood. Just want to fast fwd to Jan and all is well!

cheshirem2b · 01/05/2014 11:20

This is so stressful isn't it?
I'm just 5 weeks on my calculations. GP next Friday and then take it from there! Exciting times!
