Christmas / NYE babies?

Just got that BFP and facing the long road ahead.... The baby is due NYE which could be interesting - perhaps didn't think that one through!

Dying to tell people - all I can think about - but think I should play it safe until I get the all clear scan. Soooo exciting though.

Anyone else out there playing the waiting game?

Congratulations to you all! My Christmas Day baby will be 16 this year! She was born on a still cold winter morning. There were only three of us present as she was born in a birth center. The room was dim and warm, classical Christmas music was playing softly in the background. My mum delivered a big turkey dinner to us shortly after she was born..it really was a magical time...

I hope you all have wonderful memories of your time too..xx

Lades really sorry to hear that, take care of yourself and let everyone around you look after you.

Thanks Bicnod, if I go by the scan dates I am 9 weeks today so only another 3 weeks until I can start screaming I'm pg from the rooftops. We all seem to be wishing our pg's away!

I'm sure once you tell people why you was cancelling plans that they will understand and not think of you as a complete flake - not that you are!

We have a family christening this weekend and some of my family are travelling down from another part of the country, they may be coming late tonight but I am hoping they will come tomorrow morning as for the last few nights we have been going to bed about 10 pm and if they don't arrive until midnight I'm never going to be able to stay awake for them. I might just leave a key under the door mat so that they can let themselves in and I can sleep.

What's everyone else's plans for the weekend? Anyone up to anything good?

Lades, so sorry to hear this Sad be kind to yourself. Have you got people you can talk to about it?

Lisa, that's great news about the scan. As a pp said, I wish I could fast forward to that point!

I'm currently feeling sick as a dog. Bleurgh. Cancelling plans all over the place without being able to tell people the real reason why, I think I'm about to get a reputation as a total flake...

Just wanted to wish you all luck...ill be disappearing as it seems im miscarrying. Had scan and bloods yest and will again sat but there was nothing to see on scan. Being monitored for either failed or ectopic. Hoping (in inverted commas) that its the former, lesser of two evils i suppose Sad

Scan was unbelievable. There is definitely a bean in there and there is only one. Saw the heart beating but the bean was at the bottom of the sac so was very photogenic. Got very emotional when I heard the heat beat for the first time. Am so glad that I paid for the scan.

She dated me slightly ahead of where I thought I was, so 8 + 5 and edd now 11 December so if this baby is 2 weeks late will be induced on Christmas Day!!! She also said not to worry too much about her date as they will date me again at the 12 week scan so could end up with 3 different dates.

Sonographer was really nice and said that I am at less risk as I am over 8 weeks of mis carrying because most mcs happen by 7 weeks and that the placenta takes over from week 8 and mine looked fine.

Am now going to relax and enjoy the pregnancy even the nausea - it's all for a good cause Grin

lisa c how did the scan go?

I'm feeling a bit fed up of it all now. The nausea, the tiredness, the waiting, the having to go through all this whilst keeping it secret.

beginning to hate work as I know I have to try and hide how crappy I feel whilst still being told "you look rough, are you ok?"

Sigh

Hi all

LadesC sorry to hear you are spotting, I would give your midwife a call and see what she says as they may get you in for an early scan.

J200 midwife appointment was a bit of a waste of time, as my drs surgery should not have booked me in to see her, they should have given me the number for the community midwife office so that I could book through them.

As I was there she took my blood pressure, which was all fine and she sent off a urine sample, but she couldn't do the booking in as she didn't have a form and she couldn't take my bloods because I didn't have a unit number. I've now spoken to the community midwives and given them all my details. They will send me a scan date and then the midwife (who I saw on Friday) will call me after I have received the date to book my booking in appointment. The midwife was really lovely and she said that I would see her for all my antenatal care but that she wouldn't get to meet my baby Sad, as although I am under where she does her surgery at my drs, I am outside of the jurisdiction where I live and I will have my post natal care through a different group of midwives who I have never met, which is a bit of a shame really.

She dated me as 7+5 (I made it that I was 7+4) and she gave me the same EDD that I had worked it out to be so an early Christmas present for me (unless the bean's late) in which case it could be Christmas day!

However, she did tell me an interesting piece of information. She told me that 1 in 8 pregnancies start out with twin but only 1 in 80 make it to a twin birth, which is why you may have some spotting in early pregnancy.

I tried to get her to get me booked in for an early preganancy scan because we conceived using Clomid but she wasn't having any of it, so when I got home from the appointment I booked a private scan and we will get to see out little bean tomorrow night for the first time and hopefully find out that everything is ok Grin Am super excited and can't wait - just hope DH manages to get out of work on time so that he's on the right train home.

Nausea is really starting to kick in now, if I don't eat every couple of hours I start to feel really rough and although I haven't thrown up yet, I feel that it is only a matter of time.

I'm 8+1 today. How's everyone else doing?

Lisa

Hi LadesC, don't have experience of this, but didn't want to read without bumping it up. I know a little spotting isn't necessarily a problem, but I suppose if you're in any doubt, ring your GP surgery or midwife if you already have their number. Hopefully everything will be fine x

After being relatively chilled so far, last night and this morning Ive had some spotting. Anyone else had this? Am undecided whether I need to do anything or wait to see if it gets worse. Am 6 weeks today.

Hi j200, all good hear thanks :) Just finding I'm tired by mid-afternoon and seems like I'm weeing about twice as much as usual. Not really had any nausea yet, just feel ever so slightly queasy when I get hungry. I know not everyone gets morning sickness and often doesn't kick in till after 6 weeks, and one of my friends who is 6 months pregnant never had the slightest bit of nausea. So not going to start wishing for that! Like you I'm trying not to stress too much, but easier said than done.

J200 glad to hear you are feeling better today. I must admit I took my last test on Thursday night before I went to see the midwife. I think I just needed to see that word to make sure the thre me tests that I did 3 weeks ago weren't a figment of my imagination!

I have booked a private scan for Wednesday evening the midwife told me that unless I start bleeding they will not offer an early scan and having waited 2 years for this baby I am desperate to know tht everything is ok (and whether it's twins).

Congrats Kat welcome to the mad house!!
